Cooking up a storm!

Hello There! How are you today?

Well, I survived another Brownie pack holiday and I've taken today off work to recover. We spent all weekend with our pack in a lovely activity centre, set in the middle of a field. The weather behaved, we did lots of activites and everyone had a fab time! I'm very proud to say I got a gold at archery! Now I'm baking for tomorrow's cake sale at work...my biscuit dough is chilling and my coffee cupcakes are in the fridge. I'm hoping to raise a lot more money for Marie Curie this week.

Talking of baking...the challenge this week over at Cupcake Craft Challenge is "Cooking up a storm!"....they want to see cards with a cooking theme. One of my work friend's has just made her daughter's wedding cake, and I made her this card just before the wedding...

I wanted a pretty card...and I just love that rose backing paper, its so sweet and perfect for this card. My little pinny is made out of paper scraps and ribbon. I added a little white faux stitching to the blue backing paper and the sentiment which I created on my computer. Pop over to the cupcake blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

I also have some really exciting news....I've found a flat. I've wanted to move out of my mum's dining room for a while now....I was only ever supposed to be there for 6 months (its 4 years and 2 months later now!!). Its a lovely little flat close to Joe, overlooking a beautiful courtyard with lots of cats! The best bit is the huge kitchen!! I'm picking up the keys next weekend, so its all go, go, go at the moment! How exciting!

Well, thank you for popping by today, its lovely to see you.

Something Old, Something New!

Hello there campers! Hope you're well.

Well, its Saturday and that means another fab challenge from Sweet Stampin, and this week its the turn of my team....Team Abi...woo hoo! The theme this week is Something Old, Something New....you just need to use something old on your card and something new on your card...simple! Take a peek at the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog and all Team Abi DT blogs to see some wonderful cards!

As its still June, we're still joined by the fab Prairie Fairy as our monthly sponsor......

...and this week we're joined by the fab Bugaboo Stamps as our weekly sponsor....check out the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog to see the prizes that are up for grabs!

Here is my card....

We were lucky enough to be given some digi stamps from Bugaboo this week and I picked this gorgeous frame to feature on my card. I'd like to count the digi image as my something new.....but the "thinking of you" stamp is also new! I wanted to keep the card simple to show off the frame, so I opted for a blue colour theme with just two papers and some ribbon. The gorgeous blue and bronze swirly paper is my something old....I've had this paper for ages and I love it! I've used it very sparingly and this is my last piece! I've had it so long that I'm not sure where it came from!!

Right, thats all for today...this post is a little bit of a cheat really as I'm actually on Brownie Pack Holiday this weekend and have scheduled this post to appear! We're at a fab activity centre for the weekend, so keep your fingers crossed that the weather is ok!!

Thanks for popping by today and I look forward to visiting your blogs!

A couple of sketches!

Hello there! Hope you're well and having a fab week so far!

I missed my usual Wednesday post last night because I ran out of time! I held my first cake sale for Marie Curie last night at Brownies....it was a modest affair, but we still managed to raise nearly £50 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Look at the yummy selection of cakes that we had to choose from....donated by myself, mum, Lorna and some of the lovely Brownies! I've got a cake sale at work next Tuesday followed by our official Blooming tea party on the 9th July.....its all go, go, go....and lots of baking!!

So, I have to catch up with some challenges because I'm running a little behind! First off here is my card for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges where they have a lovely sketch challenge this week.

Yes, its really pink and really girlie!! I might have got a bit carried away with the pink papers, but they're all so pretty! This is a Kanban image coloured using my Promarkers. Check out the Cupcake blog to see the gorgeous cards that the DT created this week!

I also have a card for this week's challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday...Arlana has created another corker of a sketch this week and the DT have designed gorgeous cards, pop by their blog to see them all. Here is my card....

Shock horror! I've created a card for a boy without being asked to! Ha, ha! To be honest I actually really enjoyed making thi card, it seemed to fit the sketch so well....and after all that pink on the card above it was nice to use different colours! The stamp is an old Papermaina one and it fits brilliantly with the challenge over at a Passion for Promarkers this week - park life (they want to see things you'll find in a park)! Again, I've coloured my image with my Promarkers. Pop over to the Passion for Promarkers blog to see other park life cards!

Right, I'm off to pack for Brownie Pack Holiday! Yes, keep your fingers crossed for no rain in Surrey this weekend because I will be spending lots of time outside with my Brownies! This is an annual weekend trip....and I know how shattered I'm going to be on Monday...I've booked the day off work!!

Thanks for popping by today,

I can't think of a post title!!!!

Hello there...hope you had a fab weekend. Mine was busy and emotional, but good.

This week's challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge is brilliant....I was spoilt for choice when making my card really! Their theme is "something from around the home"...basically you need an image showing something you'd find in a home...how cool!

I decided to opt for a bath in the end...I love this new stamp, its fun to use and I think it looks fab too!

I've used a fun polka dot backing paper, along with some lovely mauve paper to give a real girlie feel to the card. I've coloured the image using my Promarkers, and I added a little sparkle to the bubbles using my trusty stickles! I'm pleased to say that I really like this card...yes, shock horror you heard me right...I was just openly positive about one of my cards!!

Check out the SCSC challenge to see all the wonderful DT cards this week.

My sister Lorna and I are hosting a Great Blooming Tea Party in Lorna's garden in July. As you know we're partial to hosting the odd afternoon tea and so this appeal is right up our street....in fact I think we've probably got a little carried away with the guest list....if everyone turns up for tea and homemade cake we'll raise a lot of money...but I think we'll also run out of chairs! We've set the date (Saturday 9th July) and the invites have been sent, now we're planning the decor and food (we want it to have a vintage feel). I'm really looking forward to it - please keep your fingers crossed for good weather on that day!!

Hello everyone...Happy Saturday!

Well here we are again with another fab challenge from Sweet Stampin....I can't believe how quickly time is speeding by at the moment! Thank you to everyone who joined in the food glourious food challenge last week, there were lots of really fab cards! This week it's the turn of Fi's Team to create some gorgeous cards to inspire you, and the challenge this week is "Things with Wings"...take a peek at the Sweet Stampin blog to see all the wonderful DT cards and if you've got the time pop by their blogs too!

We're still joined by the totally fab Prairie Frairy as our monthly sponsor in June.

And this week's sponsor is the wonderful Pollycraft, home of fab digi stamps and more......check out the SS challenge blog to see the fab prizes on offer!

Here is my card for the challenge....

I've used a fab Lenny digi image and one of my favourite sentiments at the moment! I wanted a fun, bold Birthday card and I think this fits the bill quite nicely!

I've got a friend visiting me today and my sister popping by tomorrow...so I'm a bit of a busy bee this weekend. Hopefully Lorna and I will get some crafting done tomorrow though! Check back later in the weekend to see what we made!

Now, don't forget to pop by the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog and I hope you join in the fun this week....I'm looking forward to stopping by your blogs and seeing your lovely creations!

A little controversial!

Hi there!

It's Wednesday....I've been to work...to Brownies and to Guides.....I then came home and got to play along with one of my favourite challenge blogs! I love Sweet Sketch Wednesdays....Arlana creates amazing sketches for us to follow and the DT are all so lovely...not only creating gorgeous cards, but also leaving fab comments. Tonight when I popped over to see this week's sketch I was delighted to see that I'd won their Grand Prize with my card last week......how exciting! Thank you ladies....I'm dead chuffed!

I've been sent some skin tone Promarkers by my fab Sweet Stampin team leader Abi.....and some bleedproof paper to stamp on! Aren't I lucky?? Thanks again Abi.....I've already started practising! Here is my card for this week's challenge at SSW:

Now I know I always say this....but this sketch is fab! I really enjoyed creating this card. The wedding theme comes from this week's challenge over at Passion for ProMarkers....and as you can see I've decided to be a bit daring with my wedding card. I wanted a more contemporary feel for this card and so opted for non-traditional colours and black lace! I wasn't sure as I was putting the card together whether it was going to work, but looking at it now I'm quite happy with it. I think the grey ribbon and button really pulls everything together.

I'm also entering this card in the Bingo challenge over at Simon Says Stamp this week....you can't beat a bit of Bingo! I've opted for buttons, lace and sentiment.

Pop over to all three blogs to see some gorgeous cards....great inspiration!

Right, I'm off to bed....I'm in serious need of some beauty sleep! Thanks for popping by today, its lovely to read your comments.

The simpliest male birthday card there's ever bean!!

Evening Folks!

Hope you're all keeping well. I've got a quick card to share with you this evening...a lot of challenges at the moment are asking for Father's Day cards and if I'm honest I'm really not looking forward to Sunday....I still can't quite believe he's not here anymore. Luckily I've found a couple of challenges that have simply asked for masculine cards......so here you go.....

I decided to go with a clean and simple card, with a contemporary feel. I've seen this cute sentiment recently and thought it was fab for a male card....not too cutesy....but funny....well it made me smile! I've kept it simple using a green baking paper, which I've given a distressed look to. I printed the sentiment on my computer, and backed it with a little orange card to make it pop. I then made my beans! Once again I've gone a little Blue Peter on you all....yes you've guessed it...those are my thumb prints! I added the details using black pen.

I'm entering this card in the challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges and Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - both blogs have called for male cards this week. Pop over to both blogs to see their wonderful DT cards...lots of inspiration there!

Joe took me to Brighton on Saturday afternoon.....it was cold and windy....but I kept up tradition and went for a (very quick) paddle in the sea! Dad would have been proud!

Food Glorious Food!

Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope you're well today.....I'm in a fab mood as its my first official challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week! Woo hoo! The theme this week couldn't be better either....it's Food Glorious Food! I was sooo happy when I found out!

Our fab sponsor in June is Prairie Fairy...they have a cool collection of digi images....and if you're our lucky month winner in June you'll get to pick five images as your prize...how cool! Thank you for a fab prize Prairie Fairy!

In fact you can see one of Prairie Fairy's fab images right here...as I was kindly given an image to play with this week......

...bet you're suprised there are no cupcakes on the card!

I decided to be a bit different for a change and this ice cream cone looked so yummy that I just had to use it! I've coloured it using my Promarkers and I've added an extra layer to my ice cream to make it stand out from the card. I've also embellished with a little glitter glue and a punched flower....yes I'm aware that you don't usually get flowers on ice cream cones, but hey...this is one of my cones!

As well as our monthly sponsor we also have Bunny Zoe's Crafts joining us this week as our weekly sponsor...check out the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog to see what you
could win!

Now don't forget to pop by my fellow DT blogs to check out their gorgeous creations....right with all this talk of yummy food my tummy is rumbling....I'm off to find something tasty to eat!

Sketch Time!

Hello campers, how are you today?

I have a little card that I'd like to share with you today, this is based on a wonderful old sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.....

...isn't it a cute sketch? Check out the SSW blog to see how the DT have used this sketch on their fab cards!

I hope you like the sentiment...its a bit long, but I think its fab! It comes from a book of sayings that I've got on display in my room at mum's place. I love flipping through it, as they all make me smile!

Now, I've been practising with my Promarkers again and created this card with this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers in mind. This week they have a colour combo theme - blue and brown (or you can opt for pink and brown). Pop over to their blog and see all their gorgeous creations. While I'm thinking about my Promakers I'd love to ask you all some advice - what card and ink do you use when stamping images that you'll colour with your Promarkers? Any advice will be gratefully recieved!

One last thing I have to share with you all is my latest bake.....well it wouldn't be one of my posts without a little cake action!! These are lemon cupcakes made with lemon juice and rind - they taste delicious! I wanted to make pretty cakes and so spent a bit of time on my icing - flooding the cake first and then adding the detail!
Thanks for popping by my blog today, its lovely to read your comments. Don't forget to pop back on Saturday to see my first official challenge at Sweet Stampin....I'm soooo excited!!!

White on White with some tails!

Evening All, hope you're all keeping well and had a lovely weekend.

Anyway, I have a little card for you this evening...yes, I seem to be obsessed with my mini 4x4 cards at the moment!

I've created this mini card for the "White on white" challenge over at Allsorts this week...they want to see white backgrounds with a coloured image. I decided to add a little faux stitching to the background and a mini doily (I can't spell that!!) for extra detail. The cute little fish are for the "something with tails" challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week...aren't they fab? This is a fab Pink Petticoat stamp that I got free with a craft magazine recently! I've added some sparkle to the fish and the hearts using my stickles.

Pop over to both blogs to see all the gorgeous DT cards there - they're fab!

I also wanted to share my recently bakes with you...I helped Becca and Jim celebrate their Birthdays this weekend (it was a very busy weekend!) and decided to practice my cake making on them!

Here is Becca's cow cake...

I messed up the icing on the cake and had to raid my craft stash for ribbon to hide it!!

And here is Jim's I-Pod cake...
I was really pleased with this one...I finally managed to get the icing right!

Right, I'm off to bed...I'm exhausted and its only Monday!!

Playing in the Summer Sun!

Hello everyone! Well, hopefully its Saturday morning....I've scheduled this post because after celebrating Becca's Birthday on Friday evening I think I'll probably still be fast asleep when this goes live!

Sooo, this is exciting! Its not technically my week to make a card over at Sweet Stampin, but I couldn't resist joining in with the fun! The theme this week is "Playing in the Summer Sun" and Team Fi have designed some fab cards for you....pop over to the Sweet Stampin blog and take a peek at all their gorgeous cards! Here is my card....

I've had this image for ages, I was kindly given it by someone, but I've never known what to use it on. When I saw this weeks theme and was looking through my images I thought this would be perfect for a little girl on the beach.....now I know its really sunny at the moment, but my memories of UK beach holidays as a child involved wearing quite a lot of clothes! I've used sandpaper in the background of my card for texture, and I've used yellows and blues for a summer feel. I also made my little beach go-er a bucket and spade, well a trip to the beach wouldn't be right without a bucket and spade!

We're very lucky to have Prairie Fairy Designs join us at Sweet Stampin as our monthly sponsor in June and this week's challenge sponsor is Lili of the Valley. Check out the Sweet Stampin blog to see the fab prizes on offer.

So what are you waiting for? Get stampin and join in the fun!

Catching Up on some challenges!

Morning All!

I'm lucky enough to have today off work as its my best friend Becca's Birthday tomorrow and I am meeting her later for a girlie afternoon.....a bit of lunch and some shopping are in order! So, this morning I decided to do some baking....no surpries there.....and make some cards. I haven't really had that much time to make cards recently, so I decided to get stuck in on some challenges.

First off I have a dinky little card for my two favourite weekend challenges.....Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and Allsorts....

I love making little cards, this one measures 4inches by 4 inches - so cute! The challenge over at SCSC is "clean and simple".....I think this fits the bill perfectly....a cute little image, a sentiment and a little colour. The Allsorts challenge is "Things with Wings", I hope they like my bee! Pop over to both blogs and check out all the gorgeous DT cards, be quick though because there will be new challenges tomorrow!

My second card is a masculine card to fit in with the challenge over at Simon Says Samp...which this week is either Father's Day or Masculine. After loosing my dad so recently I don't think I'll be making any father's day cards this year, so I opted for "masculine". I've also decided to enter this card in the challenge over at Passion for Promarkers which has a sports theme this week. This is the first time I've entered a challenge there, but I've practised with my promarkers for a couple of months now and decided to give it a go.....after all nothing ventured, nothing gained! The only thing I haven't used Promarkes to colour is my golfers face....I haven't got my skin tone pens yet and had to use a trusty pencil....I hope thats ok with the Promarker DT! Don't forget to pop over to both of these blogs, there are some gorgeous cards to be seen!

The white blob in the corner of the card is supposed to be a golf ball.....looking at it now I'm not so sure! And I hope you like the sentiment - I love play on words on cards, anything to make people smile!

One last thing I wanted to share with you today is a photo of my latest buy for the kitchen....I'm very sad, but these beautiful glass jars for my flour and sugar make me happy when I look in my baking cupboard! They are actually preserving jars, but hey I think they look fab anyway...they even have "home made" etched on them!
Thanks for popping by today, don't forget to pop back tomorrow when I'll tell you all about this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin!

A bit of a girlie Birthday card for my brother-in-law!

Whoops! I was making a 30th Birthday card for my Brother-in-law Jim and look what happened......

It's ended up a tad bit girlie! Ha, ha! I meant it to be a masculine green card, but the girlie in me seemed to escape! Still, Jim loves cats (he and Lorna have just got new kittens) and he loves cake!

Isn't the layout for this card fab....guess where it came from...yes, you're right Sweet Sketch Wednesday! Its a fab sketch to follow and I really enjoyed putting this card together, pop over to their blog to see how the DT ladies used it.

Did you read my exciting news yesterday? I'm soooo chuffed, I'm going to be chatting about it for ages!

Finally I've got some more baking to share with you....hope you're ready for rumbly tummies....I can vouch that these butter biscuits are very tasty!

I decided I wanted to make pretty biscuits.....and discovered that not only can I not cut out circles from paper, but I also can't ice them on biscuits! Hee, hee!

Happy 30th Birthday Jim!

Thanks for popping by today, hope to see you again soon!

My very exciting news!

Hello everyone, another late post and no card! Whats happening here I hear you say!

Well I just wanted to share some very, very exciting news with you all....I'm so proud to tell you that I have been asked to join the Sweet Stampin Design Team - woo hoo! I've even got a badge to prove it...hee, hee!
I'm really looking forward to working with this bunch of very talented ladies and I'd like to say a huge thank you to Abi and Fi for having me on board with them. As some of you may know I've wanted to be part of a DT for quite a while now, earlier this year a very talented crafter told me to keep going, keep making my cards and one day I'd get there....well she was right (thanks for the inspiration Faye!).

Whats more I'm just one of the new team members and to celebrate the blog has a fab new look and there is some fab blog candy up for grabs.....pop by and take a peek!

Thanks for stopping by today.
