A little bit vintage

Hello there...hope you've had a fab week!

Mine has been another busy one with a big consultant event mid week which I organised for my work. We brought together medical consultants from across the country for the meeting in London...I've been working on it for ages and I'm pleased that it went well.

In fact I've been so busy with this meeting that I nearly didn't have a card for you today! I headed off to work on Wednesday and hadn't planned to go home until fairly late on Friday evening (I stay with either my mum or my sister, both of them live much closer to my office than I do!). When I got to mum's on Wednesday evening I suddenly realised that I needed to make my card for Sweet Stampin this week! Luckily I had my laptop with me and so I had some digi images to choose from. Then I discovered mum's little craft cupboard....and manage to find enough materials to make this card....

Isn't that ribbon fab?? Mum's cupboard is technically full of things for our Brownie meetings, so I am really pleased that I could find these bits and pieces!

Sooooo...you might be wondering what the actual challenge is this week at Sweet Stampin!! We have a theme close to my heart this week....we want to see your vintage cards! If you'd like some more inspiration, pop by the Sweet Stampin blog to see all the gorgeous Team Abi DT cards!

I think this is a bit more shabby chic than vintage, but the sentiment definitly fits the bill and I love this Pollycraft image (it reminds me of me!!). I have also used some brown parcel paper and some gorgeous backing paper that I found in a craft magazine. I've coloured the image with some colouring pencils that I found!

We are joined this week by

as our weekly sponsor....and we are joined this month by

as our monthly sponsor!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Love to Create - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes

The weekend is in sight.....

.....Hello there...happy Thursday! I am so glad that its Thursday evening...the last couple of weeks have been so busy at work. Plus I am training for a 10k run that I'm doing on the 16th September around London Zoo. I am officially exhausted!!

Luckily I am working from home tomorrow, so I can have a mini lie in! That makes me happy!

Soooo....I have a slightly different card for you today....

See...I told you! Yes its girlie...but there is not a drop of hot pink or purple to be seen! I fancied trying something a little different this evening and I'm kinda pleased with how this has turned out.

I've used plain black paper to back the whole card and the image. I then added a square of lovely flowery/swirly paper and my sentiment. I made two paper flowers using my punches and some Stickles...they were both supposed to look like the bottom one....but I seem to have broken my mini flower punch! Whoops!!  Above the image I have added some punched paper lace.

Finally I coloured my cute LOTV image with my Promarkers and added some tiny pearls to the flowers. I wasn't very happy with her hair at first....but looking at it now I think its turned out ok!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - lace and swirls
DYSU - Birthdays
Lili's Little Faries - Black Magic (use black on your card)
Digi Doodles - handmade flowers

Don't forget to pop by all these fab blogs to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week.

A Blooming Great Tea Party!

Hello Folks....well I have to say a BIG thank you to everyone....you clearly all did a sunshine dance for me! Our Blooming Tea party for Marie Curie was a huge success yesterday...complete with yummy cakes, lots of tea, pretty dresses and lots of sunshine! So many people joined us on the day and lots of people supported us via other things....the lovely Lucy Hayward vintage hair stylist worked her magic on us, giving us all fab hair styles (Lucy also added to our donation pot). The lovely Kerry at Wrapped 4 You designed really yummy chocolates for us for our goodie bags....and donated some vouchers for the raffle! A brilliant florist in New Malden called Imagine gave us a beautiful plant for the raffle and Lake-Thomas Cakes made us fab 8 inch cake also for the raffle.

Everyone seemed to have a fab time and more importantly we raised nearly £160 for Marie Curie!

Yummy Cakes!

My siser having her hair done by Lucy (who also looks fab!)

The girlies enjoying some tea

Now....I've actually got a card for you today too.....

What a week!

Well, I have to say I've had a fun packed and very eventful week! You may have noticed that I haven't posted since last Tuesday which is a bit odd for me....well I was really lucky and mum whisked me away to Bath for a couple of days! I've had soooo many Birthday celebrations this year and Bath really was the icing on top of the cake - what a wonderful place....I actually wish I lived there (although I think I'd be very poor all the time!!).

Soooo...this morning I've finally had my oven door fixed (so I can start baking again!!) and I've been catching up with my card challenges.

After the no pink challenge at Sweet Stampin this week I decided that pink was the way to go this morning....with one of my favourite stamps....

This card features loads of my favourite things....pink, cooking, buttons, lace, stitching and of course a bit of bling! I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Inspired by a film - I've been inspired by all the cooking in "Julie & Julia"....if you haven't seen this fab film, you really should!

Simon Says Stamp - this cute layout is inspired by the sketch created by Dawny this week

CES Challenge - buttons - the more the merrier!

Passion for Promarkers - pink, pearls and lace.....to my dismay I only had one actual pearl (see bottom right hand corner), but I also fab these gorgeous pearly buttons! I've gone for paper lace punched using my Martha Stewart border punch and of course I love pink!! And of course my image is coloured with my Promarkers!

I've got one last Birthday surprise this afternoon (yes another one!!), my fab friend Alex is taking me somewhere....I have no idea where, but I have to wear a pretty dress!! I better go and get ready...I'll be back tomorrow to tell you all about it!

Not the best colouring!

Helloooeeee!

Thank you to everyone for their lovely Birthday messages, I had such a lovely time this year and its so nice to read everyone's comments too.

I'm back! I've had a fab 24 hours....Joe whisked me off to Bournemouth yesterday afternoon as a Birthday surprise! We paddled in the sea, walked along the beach and stayed in a fab hotel. Then today.....we went to Monkey World! Such a fab place! Yes, I'm a big kid at heart and I don't care!! Joe loves the chimps and made a friend who he wanted to bring home!

As well as the two cards that I posted yesterday, I also started another one which I've had the opportunity to finish off this evening.....I'm not as happy with this one as my colouring is rubbish! However, I love the layout and so decided to share it with you anyway....

See what I mean.....rubbish colouring!

I want to enter this card in the following challenges:

Digi Doodle - paper lace
Papertake Weekly Challenge - a stitch in time (there is faux silver stitching on the grey paper lace!)

I hope this isn't too girlie for a man's card.....I always seem to make things a bit girlie!!

I love Katy Perry!!

Hello there, lovely to see you!

I've had a fantastic weekend....the Katy Perry concert on Saturday night was amazing! I bought the tickets for Becca's Birthday back in June...so its been a long wait, but it was definitley worth it! I had standing tickets which I had my reservations about, and to be honest we did stand for a long time and get shoved about by the great British public.....but I wouldn't have changed them for the world! We got quite close to the front, and the atmosphere was AMAZING! Katy looked and sounded awesome, it was probably the best concert I've ever been to...yes, better than Take That!

Right, back to business...I've been crafting! There are several challenges this week that fit together nicely, so I've been having fun going through my paper stash and here is my card.....

The colours are for two different challenges...

White and one other colour - Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge (I've gone for white and lavender)
Lavender and Lace - Allorts

.......and my cute embellishments are for the Buttons and Bows challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week.

Anyone who as stopped by before knows that I love my girlie cards and my favourite colour is purple (or shades of!). So, I decided to get my tea set stamps out and my glitter and get crafting! I've made my own lace using white paper and a paper punch (Allsorts ladies I hope thats ok!), this puch reminds me of dollies, its very pretty! I couldn't find any bows in my stash so I made one from ribbon. I enjoyed picking out my buttons....I haven't used buttons in ages!!

A little controversial!

Hi there!

It's Wednesday....I've been to work...to Brownies and to Guides.....I then came home and got to play along with one of my favourite challenge blogs! I love Sweet Sketch Wednesdays....Arlana creates amazing sketches for us to follow and the DT are all so lovely...not only creating gorgeous cards, but also leaving fab comments. Tonight when I popped over to see this week's sketch I was delighted to see that I'd won their Grand Prize with my card last week......how exciting! Thank you ladies....I'm dead chuffed!

I've been sent some skin tone Promarkers by my fab Sweet Stampin team leader Abi.....and some bleedproof paper to stamp on! Aren't I lucky?? Thanks again Abi.....I've already started practising! Here is my card for this week's challenge at SSW:

Now I know I always say this....but this sketch is fab! I really enjoyed creating this card. The wedding theme comes from this week's challenge over at Passion for ProMarkers....and as you can see I've decided to be a bit daring with my wedding card. I wanted a more contemporary feel for this card and so opted for non-traditional colours and black lace! I wasn't sure as I was putting the card together whether it was going to work, but looking at it now I'm quite happy with it. I think the grey ribbon and button really pulls everything together.

I'm also entering this card in the Bingo challenge over at Simon Says Stamp this week....you can't beat a bit of Bingo! I've opted for buttons, lace and sentiment.

Pop over to all three blogs to see some gorgeous cards....great inspiration!

Right, I'm off to bed....I'm in serious need of some beauty sleep! Thanks for popping by today, its lovely to read your comments.

Oh la la!

Evening Folks! Hope everyone is well this evening...what a horrible grey day its been! I opened the curtains this morning and after looking out all I wanted to do was crawl back into my bed! Yuck!

I've got something a little saucy for you this evening! Well, its actually a very sweet sentiment and one that I've used before...but the card features a lacy bra and therefore is probably the sauciest thing to feature on my blog! Hee, hee!

So you might be wondering what my lovely bra card is in aid of.....can you guess the challenge I am entering this in?? It's actually for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges where the theme is lace! You should take a peek at all the gorgeous cards the DT have created.

For my bra card I have used a black and white spotty backing paper - I just loves spots! I created the sentiment on my computer. The bra is made from scrap paper, some lace trim, a little sticky gem and straps made out of ribbon! I've also added a little bit of the lace to the card for extra glamour. A lovely card to tell a friend how much they mean to you!

Right, I'm off to cook some dinner now...the lovely Joe is waiting for some chicken and chorizo!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Something for the Girls!

Afternoon All! Hope you're all well today!

I've just come across a fab blog called Magical Crafts where they run fortnightly craft challenges, they encourage crafters who use all different techniques to enter their challenges. This fortnight's challenge is called "Something for the girls!", which I think is a fab theme! The DT creations are all so lovely, pop by here to take a peek.

I actually made the perfect card for this challenge last night, it all started with the sentiment which I thought was fab.......

Hee, hee! Now wouldn't you just love to get this card from your friend?!?

The sentiment was created on the computer, the backing papers came from my stash - I've got a new punch that I wanted to try out....I like the pretty edging it gave me. The bra is made out of patterend paper and I've added some pretty pink lace to the edge. I then made the bra straps out of ribbon!

I showed this to mum once I was finished and she just burst out laughing......at least I made her smile!

The weather forecast is still looking good for the weekend....I feel so sorry for all those runners on Sunday....I think they'll be having a rather hot run this year! If anyone reading this post is taking place in the marathon I wish you all the best - I hope you enjoy it! I haven't run in so long now!!

Right, thats all for today.....thanks for popping by!
