Ohh la la!

Evening everyone....yes another late night post from Surrey!

Well, it was Dad's funeral last Friday and all I can say is that it was a very happy day, I will always smile when I remember it. We had a humanist ceremony which was lovely and very personal, and so many people attended - it was a bit overwhelming really. We catered the wake ourselves, so last Thursday was spent in the kitchen....and I made Dad's last cup of tea (his favourite drink).....

It was a bit of a mega cake and not many people knew about the rainbow inside, so it was a lovely surprise when I cut it! Apparently it was the tastiest cake I've ever made!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for leaving me your lovely comments, its so nice to know that there are people all over the place thinking of me and my family at the moment - the crafting community is such a nice one.

Right, on with some challenges.....tonight I have a saucy little card fit for two different challenges...first off Sweet Stampin's challenge is "Oh la la".....they've called for something a little cheeky! Secondly, Cupcake Craft Challenge has set a fab zesty colour combo....lime green, orange, yellow and white. Here is my card....

Ok, so I didn't have any saucy stamps or digi images to hand so I decided to try and make a digi image of my own using my graphics pad. Not sure I'd like to wear this pair of knickers, but I just love this sentiment....it always makes people smile! I love these colours together, its nice to make something with no pink or purple for a change! Don't forget to pop over to both blogs to see all the fab DT cards...they're all gorgeous!

Right, I suppose I better head off to bed as its getting very late and I need my beauty sleep! Ohhhh....before I forget, I've got some really exciting news to share with you tomorrow....so don't forget to pop back here on Wednesday!

Thanks for popping by today,

Sketch time!

Evening All, another quick post from me today because its already quite late and I'm exhausted! I hope you are well where ever you are in the world!

It's a Wednesday so that means only one thing....a new fab sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and Arlana and the team don't disappoint this week!

I've decided to go with what I do best - girlie! I've used soft blues, pinks and purples for this Birthday card...plus lots of glitter glue! I like this stamp set....its got lots of individual images that you can combine together to make a pretty scene. The champagne bottle and the sentiment are attached using 3D sticky pads to give the card a little dimension.

Take a peek at the SSW blog to see how the fab DT used the sketch.

Do you remember the fab 100th sketch blog hop that the SSW ladies a couple of weeks ago? I was lucky enough to win some fab candy from Genevieve...it arrived with me today and I can't wait to use it! Aren't I a lucky crafter! Thank you Genevieve!
Thanks for popping by today, see you again soon.

Bookworm

Morning Everyone - hope you're well this morning.

I have a quick project to share with you this morning for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge where the theme is.......bookworm. You can create anything with a book on it, or a bookmark.

I went for a bookmark!

If I'm honest I'm not entirely happy with this project, its not as pretty as I wanted it to be.

I used pink card as the base and topped that with black and white polka dot paper. I used my Martha Stewart edge cutter to punch a pretty border onto the bottom of the polka dot paper, and used a plain hole punch at the top for my ribbon hole. I added a little pink ribbon before finally sticking the polka dot paper onto the pink card.

I then stamped a pretty flower image onto a piece of white card, adding the sentiment "A Perfect Day". I think the perfect day is often topped off with a little reading! I coloured the card using my spun sugar distress ink from Tim Holtz - I love this colour! Next I backed my stamped image with some more pink card, and attached that to the polks dot paper.

This is probably the widest and thickest bookmark you'll ever come across! At least you won't loose your page!

Finally I added the embellishments - a sticky gem to the bottom of the ribbon to cover the hole and I used me stickles to add a little sparkle to my flowers.

Thanks for popping by today, see you again soon.

Cute as a button!

I've spent a lovely weekend with Joe at his flat in Aldershot, just doing normal things that I enjoy. I visited my local craft shop and bought some papers, I went to Squires Kitchen and spent a Birthday voucher on more chocolate making goodies and I wandered around my favourite antiques shop - its been lovely! Of course I've also spent time crafting and baking - no suprise there then!

Here is a little card that I've created for two challenges this weekend

I have to admit that the lighting of this photo is awful, so you can't see the stickles twinkling on the branches, but sorting the flash on my camera is a bit beyond me right now! I've decided to go for a contemporary feel for this anniversary card, with pretty pinks, blues and greens.  The theme of "in the garden" and the gorgeous layout comes from this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin where they have given us the garden theme and a gorgeous sketch to follow - its up to you whether you use one element or both. Don't forget to take a peek at all the gorgeous DT cards on their blog.

I'm also entering this card in the challenge this week over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge where the theme is anniversary. I love this tree stamp and have used it on so many different cards, but I always feel it works so well on anniversary cards - portraying growing love. Oh, look at me getting all mushy!! Take a peek at the SCSC blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards this week.

I've also been doing a little baking today.......I always focus on the flavours of my cakes rather than what they look like, so today I decided to make a really good vanilla cupcake that looks cute too! I was inspired by photos I'd seen in blogland of some very cute button cupcakes so I decided to give it a go myself....

Aren't they cute?? I made the buttons myself out of pre-coloured royal icing - I cut out the circles and added the centre holes using a tooth pick. For the larger buttons I also added an extra circle around the outside. I'm really pleased with how these turned out.

Thanks for popping by today, I hope to see you again soon.

A girlie post!

Hello there! The first thing I'd like to say is a huge thank you to everyone for their lovely messages, reading everyone's kind words really made me smile...I've been touched by the support of everyone I've encountered in the last week, both near and far. Thank you, it really means a lot to me.

Today, I've come over a little bit girlie...probably no surprise there though! Inspired by the wonderful sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday I created this very pink card....

I told you it was pink!! I really enjoyed using this sketch, I think Arlana has done a wonderful job this week. Check out the SSW blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

I also decided to enter this week's challenge over at Simon Says Stamp, where the theme is "sparkle and shine"....as you know I love a bit of bling and so thoroughly enjoyed making the next card....

This is a new stamp that I bought a couple of weeks ago...isn't it cute...I'd love a bubble bath like that right now! I decided to highlight all those lovely bubbles using one of my stickles, I also used the stickles on the champagne glass for some extra sparkle. For the shine I decided to highlight the cute little dollie with some cosmic shimmer, it hasn't come out too well in the photo, but looks fab in the flesh! For more sparkle and shine take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards on the Simon Says Stamp blog.

I've also been indulging my other passions today and have made some yummy marble cake cupcakes, topped with vanilla butter icing and some really, really cute mini jazzies!
I've also had a go at customising some plain, boring flip flops with the help of some super glue and my button collection. I saw a pair similar to this in the shops recently and though "I could do that!", so I did!  I'm really pleased with how these turned out....although I did manage to stick my fingers together and I stuck my foot to one of the flip flops!! Whoops!

Thank you for popping by today, hopefully I'll see you again soon!

Another week....

Hello there, this is a bit of a sad post I'm afraid as I'd like to say that the past week has been incredibly sad for me and my family as my dad lost his battle with cancer last Friday morning. Some people might say its weird that I've shared this with you all, but to be honest writing it on my blog helps me remember that this has really happened as it all seems a bit surreal at the moment. Dad first battled cancer 4 years ago when he was diagnoised with mouth cancer - he won that fight with the care of some amazing doctors and nurses. This March, exactly four years after the first diagnosis we found out that he had lung cancer and unfortunantly this time it spread very quickly.

Over the last week we've met some extremley caring people who helped us all through this difficult time. If you ever want to donate to a charity and don't know which one, I can tell you from personal experience that Marie Curie Nurses are very deserving of anything you donate.
Now, I know that Dad would want us all to be happy (he said he was always too busy to be sad), so today I've been crafting...catching up on some challenges.

My first card is for last week's challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday...Arlana has created a stonking sketch this week, which I thoroughly enjoyed using......isn't it cute?

Check out the SSW blog to see all the wonderful DT cards.I've opted for pink papers, along with that lovely flowery backing paper to highlight the image.

I've also created another card, using a digi image that I've created on my new graphics pad - this is a new toy for me and I'm not the world's greatest artist, so bear with me on this one!

The image is Wedgie (yes me!) in the garden and I created her for the challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week, which is "in the garden". Whenever I write a note to someone I sign my name and doddle this little lady, it always seems to make people smile so I thought I'd add her to one of my cards!
The cute layout for this card is a sketch from The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, which I've flipped on it's side. Since making it I've realised that I've missed the sentiment out so the ladies might not include me in their draw, but it was still fun to use. I'm also entering this card in the "spots, stripes and sparkle" challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week - the spots and stripes are on the baking papers and I've added sparkle to the flowers and water using my trusty stickles!

I've also done a little baking today....yummy peanut butter muffins....see my baking blog for more photos and the recipe I used!
Thanks for popping by today and I hope to see you soon.
In loving memory of my Dad.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday's 100th Sketch!!

Hello there - hope you're keeping well!

Well, you give a girl all this time off and does she do any crafting?? No!! I'm really not sure what I did with the last two weeks, but I know I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

So, It's Wednesday...but its not any old Wednesday...today Sweet Sketch Wednesday share with us their 100th sketch! Arlana has created yet another stonker and the fab SSW DT have made the most gorgeous cards as inspiration for us. I'm so glad I stumbled over the SSW blog - they are the most supportive group of ladies and I love seeing their wonderful creations each week. To celebrate their 100th sketch they are having a fab blog hop....pop over to their blog to join in with the fun!

Here is my version of Arlana's sketch.....

I enjoyed using this sketch and opted for pink, purple and a hint of aqua blue for a fresh looking card. The SSW ladies will know I'm not a fan of bows...I never seem to have the right one for my card, so once again I made my own one out of paper!

Cupcake Craft Challenges are also celebrating this week - they have some lovely new DT members and a gorgeous new look to their blog - take a peek! Their challenge this week is "Something beginning with C".....so I opted for......chocolate! I love this stamp, it always makes me giggle! Pop over to their blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards. Ohhh, I nearly forgot to tell you...the Cupcakes ladies are having a blog hop as well this week!

Right, I'm off to join in the blog hopping fun!
Thanks for stopping by today.
