Spooky Greetings!

Hello there....me again!

This is my second post for today, if you are looking for my Sweet Stampin DT post please scroll down!

Sooooo......my posts today have been scheduled....this is mainly because I am spending today with my sister and some of my friends having a Halloween themed crafternoon tea! We are going to eat lots of spooky homemade treats and then we are going to make something (when I was writing this I still hadn't decided what craft to do....I hope I made up my mind quickly!!). I love these afternoons...they are always so much fun! Having a Halloween theme just makes it even better....pop back tomorrow to see photos of the day!!

This links in nicely with this week's challenge over at My Time to Craft where we'd like to see your Halloween creations!

I love this spiderweb paper and so do lots of you judging by the lovely comments you've been leaving me! I think it looks fab in the background of this card! I have topped the card with some purple and orange swirly papers...perfect for Halloween! I've also added some faux gold stitching to the purple paper. My sweet image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added some sparkle to the dress and hat using my Stickles.

Pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see the spooky creations that my fellow DT have made for you!

I'd also like to enter this card at:

What's Cooking?

Hello there....welcome back to another fab Sweet Stampin challenge! I am soooo excited about this week's challenge...its right up my street!!

This week our theme is What's Cooking or Something to Eat. Now as most of you know I love baking nearly as much as crafting - I can easily spend a whole afternoon locked away in the kitchen creating sweet treats - and so this challenge is perfect for me!!

I've also gone a little retro for my card, using fab tin can backing paper, along with some gorgeous cherry patterened backing paper.....

I love this image and use it quite a lot....I also love the sentiment that goes with it! I've coloured my image with my Promarkers and I've added a little sparkle to the glass and pot using my Stickles. I've used plain blue backing paper to frame everything.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week...there are some really gorgeous images!!

I'd also like to enter this card over at:

The Poodles Parlour - anything goes

Don't forget that we have prizes for our lucky winners each week! This week we are joined by....

A week to go....

...Hello there...Happy Wednesday! So this time next week it'll be Halloween...and then before we know it, it'll be Christmas time! Wow this year has flown by!

This time of year also means its almost my bosses Birthday.... I am very lucky, as my boss is wonderful and so I always try and make her a fab present for her Birthday. This year I am appealing to her sweet tooth with iced butterfly biscuits and fab chocolate spoons that I've made using chocolate moulds and then iced with Viv's name and random squiggles! The mould is fantastic and so easy to use...anyone with some chocolate can make their own chocolate spoons!
The mould comes from the brilliant "Baked by Me"....a website run by the lovely Iris, they sell all sorts from delicious cookie mixes to a brilliant range of chocolate moulds, and lots of lovely china. The prices are really reasonably and the customer service is awesome too!

Here are the pretty butterfly biscuits...

Right, enough sweet stuff...time for a card challenge!

I've gone for another spooky card today...this time using a fab free image from "The Enchanting Art of Heather Valentin"

I love this image...I'm not sure if its the cute hat, the cat (which I think I've somehow made a bit evil looking!!) or the huge pumpkin....but I love it! Thank you Heather!

I've gone with typical Halloween colours - black, purple, green and orange. Using a combination of plain backing papers and ribbon. My image has been coloured using my Promarkers and I created the purr-fect sentiment on my laptop!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Top Tip Tuesday - Halloween
Tuesday Throwdown - Halloween
Papertake Weekly - Fright Night - Boo!

Pop by all these fab blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week!

I love these fab colours together, I think they look really pretty. I've used plain and patterned papers for my background, following this week's fab sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday. The cupcake image and the small flower image I have paper pieced (I love this technique!) on more pretty papers. I think this stamp works really well with paper piecing.

Finally I have added some white faux stitching to the border and lots of glittery Stickles to my images!

Just Sepia

Happy Saturday! I hope you are well this morning!

So, its another Saturday...that means we have a shiny new challenge for you over at My Time to Craft! This week we have a colour challenge for you - we'd love to see your sepia creations....so get your soft browns at the ready!

The DT have created some fab cards as inspiration for you this week...pop by the My Time to Craft blog to see what they've made.

Here is my card.....

I've gone with a slightly vintage feel for this card as I think it suits the sepia colour tones well. I have stamped my image on card which I had already coloured with my Tim Holtz Distress Ink - I don't use this ink very often, but really enjoyed creating the ink effect on the card. I added a little more colour to the teacup with my Promarkers.

I have stamped my happy birthdat sentiment on a brown tag, and added soem faux white stiching around the edge. I have created the layout for this card using various soft brown patterned papers.

I'd like to enter this card over at the following challenges:
Allsorts - auntumn colours
DYSU - something vintage (my teacup!)

Tea at Grannys!

Evening! Hope you've had a good Tuesday!

Ok....so after another very long day at the office and a tense Great British Bake Off final I was delighted to find a challenge that was perfect for me...so perfect that I decided I needed to make a card straight away!!

But what is the challenge I hear you cry.....pop over to Tuesday Throwdown and you'll see! This week their challenge is "Tea at Grannys" and they have included the following photo for inspiration....

Anyone who has popped by my blog before will know how much I love pretty teacups...and tea...and cakes! Perfect challenge!!

So, here is the card that I created....

Bit of a dodgy photo..sorry!

I've used a pretty teapot and teacup stamped image, which I have coloured with my Promarkers. I have then created a pretty background using pretty plain pink paper and gorgeous floral papers. I've also used a doilly....a must at granny's house I think you'll agree!!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown - Tea at Grannys

Pop by both blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week.

Now talking of cakes...I mentioned in yesterday's post some rather scrummy chocca, mocha caramel cakes that I made last night and promised a photo today once they were iced. Well in the end I decided they were too yummy to add icing to and so they don't really look like much....but Joe declared that he thought they were the best cakes hes eaten! High praise indeed!

As they don't look that pretty I decided to make some cake art for you instead...what do you think....

It takes two!

Hello...Happy Monday!

Hope you've had a good day. So I learnt a good lesson this evening....I shouldn't be left alone in a kitchen full of baking goodies...yes I made more cakes!! Very naughty cakes!! I currently have some chocca mocha caramel cakes waiting to be iced! Yes, you read that right...chocca mocha caramel!! As well as being a normal naughty cake, there is also bits of chopped up chocolate bars in the cakes!! Whoops!! Pop back tomorrow for photos of the finished cakes...and my verdict on yumminess!!

Sooooo...its Monday...that means one thing...its a new challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge! Woo hoo! This week's challenge is "two's company" and for this challenge I created this spooky pair.....

Aren't they cute??

I've used plain black paper to back my card and to frame my Digistamp Boutique images and sentiment. I have added some fab spiderweb paper and a strip of patterned paper to the background, before attaching my images and sentiment. The image is coloured with my Promarkers....I've tried to match the colours in the patterned paper to tie everything together.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Love to Create - trick or treat
Cupcake Craft Challenge - two's company
The Poodles Parlour - Halloween
Di's Digi Designs - too cute to spook (2nd entry)

Today I have another halloween card for you....and I'm afraid its another cute one! I'm just not very good at spooky halloween cards!

I really love this DigiStamp Boutique image, hes soooo sweet!

I've used a brown recycled card blank for this card and I've topped it with that gorgeous swirly blue paper. My image has been printed and coloured with my Promarkers, and I've added some googly eyes! I created my sweet sentiment on my computer and backed it with some plain brown paper. I stamped some sweets onto plain card, coloured them with my Promarkers and added a little sparkle with my Stickles. My sweets have been attached using 3D sticky pads.

1,2,3....

Hello there...welcome back to our second Saturday challenge over at My Time to Craft! This is my second post for today...if you are looking for my Sweet Stampin card please scroll down!

We have a little number challenge for you this week....we'd like to see 1 ribbon, 2 images and 3 papers on your card...that will get you thinking...well it got me thinking!!

I decided to go with a Christmas theme for this card.....not sure why.....

I'm not entirely happy with this card....I do love the cute stamped images though.

I've gone with a ruby red paper, topped with a merry christmas paper and a christmas pudding paper. I have topped these with my images that I have coloured with my Promarkers and finally I added some fab, gold ribbon. I would have liked to back the two images with another coloured paper...possibly a gold...but I'd reached my paper limit!

Pop over to the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see the gorgeous cards that my fellow DT have created for you this week!

I'd also like to enter this in the anything goes challenge over at Crafty Sentiments this week.

Autumn is here...

Hello there...Happy Saturday....hope you are ready for a lovely weekend! I've got my mum visiting today....I might even let her eat ones of those cakes I baked yesterday!

I love the colours that surround us at this time of year, the trees all look so beautiful as their leaves change colour. And this week at Sweet Stampin we are celebrating the beautiful autumn trees and leaves.

The DT have come up with some fab cards for you this week, and here is mine....

I've gone for a simple design for this card....leaving the fab colours and sparkle do the talking! Regular visitors to my blog have probably seen this stamp once of twice before! Hee, hee...what can I say? I love it..perfect for so many different cards!

As well as the gorgeous papers, I have used some pretty lace. I have also added Stickles to the leaves of the trees, for colour and sparkle.

We can't wait to see what you create this week...for more inspiration pop over to the Sweet Stampin blog to see Team Abi's cards!

Wonderful Day....

Hello there....Happy Friday! I hope you are keeping well!

Soooo....as you might know if you've popped by recently work has been so hectic and I've been feeling a bit poorly. So I decided to take today as an annual leave day.....and I have had such a fab day!

I've spent time (and money) in my favourite crafts shops, baked some really yummy cakes, made some cute chocolates, finally framed some pictures that I've had for ages, I watched a movie and made some cards! What an awesome and productive day so far!

Here are my latest cakes.....

These are adapted from a recipe that I found in this month's edition of Essentials magazine. They are a salted caramel cake with vanilla icing and a gorgeous caramel sauce. I am so pleased wiht how these how turned out!

These are my new pictures that are now framed, but need to be hung....

We found these when we were in Bournemouth in April!! I loved them as soon as I saw them and they'll look fab in my living room.

Soooo....on to my card for today....be warned....its a pink one.....

I've gone with a shabby chic feel for this card. I bought some recycled card blanks earlier today....I think they're going to make some fab Christmas cards! But I also thought they'd look quite good with some shabby chic on them!

The layout for this card comes from the fab sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday...I've used my mug image instead of the last square...hope thats ok ladies!

I've gone with soft pinks and white and that gorgeous beige paper...its soooo pretty! I've punched the corners of my plain pink paper to give them a softer look, then I've torn the pink and white paper for a distressed feel. I've also used some pretty lace, a die cut butterfly and my gorgeous stamped cup image. The image has been coloured with my Promarkers - ivory and cinnamon.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - shabby in pink
Simon Says Stamp - punches and/or dies
Sir Stampalot - punch away (my corners used a punch)
Top Tip Tuesday - things with wings (my little butterfly)

Pop by all these fab blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created for inspiration!

Finally I thought I'd leave you with this little photo....there was one cake that was a lot bigger than the rest.....and I couldn't resist...I just had to make a special cake just for me!! It really was yummy!

Popping By to say Hello!

Hello there! Happy Tuesday!

Did you know that October is Popcorn Popping month in America?? No, nor did I! Another fab thing that I've learnt since being part of the Celebrate the Occasion DT!

Soooo....this week we'd like to see your projects featuring popcorn!

Now I have to warn you....I actually really like this card of mine...shocking I know, but I am so pleased with how this card turned out....

I recently won a voucher over at Sweet & Sassy and I just had to buy this cute popcorn image!! Isn't he a happy chappy?? This card makes me smile!

If my friend Anika pops by my blog she will recognise this card as I have just sent it to her!! Hello Anika!

I've used bright papers, both patterned and plain to compliment this cute image and sentiment. I've coloured the image with my Promarkers and added some sparkle with my Stickles.

Monday 8 October 2012

Hello There!

Happy Monday! Hope you've had a good day.

Mine has been long...again! I've still got a bit of a pathetic cold...bit sniffly..really annoying cough, but at least its not too bad! Thank you for all your well wishes...I really was feeling sorry for myself on Friday!!

So, its just gone 7pm and its really, really dark already!! What I love about this time of year though is the fab comfort food we all eat on these dark evenings!! After a long day in the office I decided to make one of my favourite chicken dishes for dinner ....chicken breast, chopped up chorizo, tomatos, pepper, onion, whatever beans I have in the cupboard and big glug of wine. Cook it in a hot oven for about 30 minutes. Its so simple to make and really, really tasty...especially when served with warm crusty bread! Yummy!

Anyway, cookery lesson over! I also have a card for you this evening!!

So for this card I have combined my cute little witch digi image from Digistamp Boutique with a fab pumpkin freebie image from Melonheadz. They are both too cute and so I decided that I wanted to use both of them! My images are coloured with my Promarkers and I have added some sparkle to the witches hat and the pumpkins with my Stickles.

I've gone with warm oranges and browns for this autumn inspired card. Combining two patterned papers, along with some plain orange and plain brown paper. I have also added a strip of punched border.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts - autumn trees and leaves (no trees or leaves on my card, but I have gone with the colours...I hope thats ok!)
Crazy 4 Challenges - Halloween
Cupcake Craft Challenge - Autumn/Winter
Pink Elephant - Photo inspiration

I've picked out those gorgeous orange colours and the pumpkins

For our first Saturday challenge we'd like to see you colouring on Kraft paper......

I thought I might struggle a little bit with this challenge, but as soon as I got started I actually really enjoyed it! I stamped this cute image onto some Kraft paper and then I coloured it with my Promarkers. I then picked out a selection of blue and brown papers for the background.

Feeling a little sorry for myself...

...sniff, sniff...hello there...Happy Friday!

Well I am really pleased that its Friday....another long week over! I've got the start of a cold and I'm feeling a bit pants! I'm going to make myself feel a bit better by curling up on the sofa tonight with Joe and watching a movie...I've bought some gorgeous soft socks that make me smile (yes I am getting old...soft socks make me smile!!) and I think a big mug of hot chocolate is in order...and maybe some chocolate!!

Before all that I have a card that I'd like to share with you.....

Sniff! Sniff! I've picked warm colours for this card and used a combination of plain red paper and gorgeous patterned papers. My Pollycraft image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added sparkle to the stars with my Stickles. I've created and decorated three paper flowers.

I have a new toy.....

.....its not for card making, but since I get a lot of lovely positive comments about my baking I thought you might like to see it anyway! I have got my sticky mitts on a Lakeland 12 cup mini sandwich tin....which means I should be able to make perfect mini victoria sponges, mini cheesecakes and other cute delights! I say should because my first attempt has been a little dodgy.....

Here I have a mini victoria sponge cake and come cute little coffee cakes!

The wonky tops are due to me rushing (to use the tin!) and not letting my butter come to room tempreture before baking - silly me! However, the tin itself is fab...its got these little removable bottoms to help get the cakes out of the pan and its lovely and heavy (not sure why that makes it good, but it does!!). I'd highly recommend getting on if you are into your baking!

Anyway, enough about my baking....I have also made a card for you today!!

This little cutie is a Bugaboo image which I have had for ages, but I love...he also makes me smile! I've coloured him with my Promarkers and added a little sparkle with my Stickles. As this is a masculine card I have gone with blue plain and patterned papers. I've added a Birthday sentiment created on my computer.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - for a man/youth
Papertake Weekly - Happy 5th Birthday Papertake! - anything goes challenge with an optional celebration theme
Oldie but a Goodie - inspired by a song - my image is over 6 months old and I was inspired by David Bowie's Space Oddity
Crafty Sentiments - Happy Birthday

Here at Celebrate the Occasion this week we are celebrating the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month....we'd like to see your projects following this theme. The fab Celebrate the Occasion DT have created all sorts of cards for you.....here's mine.....

I've gone with the pink theme here! Making a pink floral bra out of pretty papers, and adding the breast cancer awareness ribbon to the middle and a bit of sparkle to the edges.

Pop by the Celebrate the Occasion blog to see what my fellow DT have created this week.

The lovely Cupcake ladies are also celebrating breast cancer awareness month with a fab think pink challenge - I'd like to enter this card in their challenge too!

Visiting an Old Friend.....

Hello there...Happy Monday! I hope you've had a lovely day!

Soooo....I enter a lot of challenges and visit a lot of challenge blogs...we all know that....and I seem to go through phases of which ones I visit regularly. One challenge blog that I used to visit every Wednesday without fail, but one that I haven't visited in ages is Sweet Sketch Wednesday. The ladies over there are all so talented and friendly....I couldn't resist popping by this evening to see what they've been creating.

Here is their fab sketch for this week....

Plus they have a lovely theme of celebrating women....I decided to make a card that celebrates female friendship....I love to make cakes and cards for my friends "just beacause" and so when I saw this cute freebie image everything fell into place!

Isn't she sweet?? Just put some glasses on her and it could be me!! The image is from Sliekje Digi Stamps where Angelique creates super cute images. The girl in the image does have legs...but I wanted to make her a bit smaller and so I cut them off - I hope Angelique doesn't mind!!

I've gone with pinks and soft pastel colours for this card to make it really girly, but added a bit of blue to make my image stand out. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and added a little sparkle to the cupcake with my Stickles. I've also added my sentiment in a banner.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Love to Create - thinking of you
The Pink Elephant - banners
Top Tip Tuesday - good with food

My Tip this fortnight - the ribbon on my card actaully belong's to my sister's new PJs!! Its the ribbon loops that are there to keep your clothes on the hanger. Now before you get the wrong idea, I didn't just cut off the ribbon without her knowing....but she did decide she didn't need the ribbon as she wouldn't be hanging up her PJs and so cut it off and gave it to me! What a fab way to add to my ribbon stash for free!! So what are you waiting for...go check your clothes for excess ribbon!!
