Going Dotty...for Hot Cross Buns!

Hello campers!

Hope you're well this evening and had a fab weekend. Mine was brilliant - I had the cake decorating exhibtion with Rafina (where I learnt a lot) and the pamper day with Becca (where I relaxed a lot!).

This week Cupcake Craft Challenge has a fab challenge for us....they want us to "go dotty!"...lots and lots of spots please! Pop by the Cupcake blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

I decided I wanted a fresh zingy card this evening, so I used this fab colour combo of purple, lime green and sky blue....soooo pretty! I added a stand full of cupcakes and a scrumptious sentiment!

Now I really wish you could smell my flat this evening...it smells truely scrumptious! I've tried my hand at baking Hot Cross Buns tonight....and I have to say that I am really pleased with the end results...not only do they smell amazing and look like Hot Cross Buns...they also taste pretty good too (even if I do say so myself!!).

I believe that some lovely ladies have been popping by and leaving me some really nice comments.....I will be popping by your blogs this week to investigate further, but just wanted to say a HUGE thank you!

Thanks for popping by this evening,
Wedgie xxx

Bingo!

Happy Saturday!

Today at Sweet Stampin we have the fab Crafts and Me joining us our weekly sponsor.....and the more the merrier I say as this week we're having a brilliant game of bingo! You know the rules....you need to feature three of the elements on our fab bingo board on your card....any three as long as they are in a straight line!

Are you ready? Eyes down....

What a lot of fab things! What will you pick??

I was lucky enough to be able to pick a gorgeous Crafts and Me image from their website for my card this week....and for my bingo card I picked ribbon, buttons and spots......

Now isn't that image fab?? Its so detailed that I decided to colour it using my pencils rather than my Promarkers....I think this was a good decision. I've used grey, blue and green as my colour combo....along with some blue ribbon, a blue spotty button and my paper is spotty! I'm really pleased with how this card turned out.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin blog to see what my fab fellow DT members created this week!

Thanks for popping by today,

Feeling a little bit dotty!!

Hello Campers! Happy Saturday!

Well my first week back at work has been a complete nightmare....I'm sooo glad that its the weekend!! Not only do I get two days away from my desk, but we also have a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin! This week we are sponsored by the fabulous Stamp Fairy.....and I was really lucky to be given the cutest digi image to play with...just wait until you see her!!

Our challenge this week is dots and spots....so what are you waiting for...raid your paper stash for all the dotty paper you can find!!

Isn't Betsy a cutie pie?? I'm really pleased with this card....I love dotty paper (maybe a reflection on my current state of mind!!) and I decided to use one of my favourite colour combos too!! My friend Becca would love this little card, but its not her Birthday until June.....maybe I'll have to make her a different one instead!!

Don't forget to pop by my fellow DT member's blogs to see some more gorgeous dotty cards!

Another week....

Hello there, this is a bit of a sad post I'm afraid as I'd like to say that the past week has been incredibly sad for me and my family as my dad lost his battle with cancer last Friday morning. Some people might say its weird that I've shared this with you all, but to be honest writing it on my blog helps me remember that this has really happened as it all seems a bit surreal at the moment. Dad first battled cancer 4 years ago when he was diagnoised with mouth cancer - he won that fight with the care of some amazing doctors and nurses. This March, exactly four years after the first diagnosis we found out that he had lung cancer and unfortunantly this time it spread very quickly.

Over the last week we've met some extremley caring people who helped us all through this difficult time. If you ever want to donate to a charity and don't know which one, I can tell you from personal experience that Marie Curie Nurses are very deserving of anything you donate.
Now, I know that Dad would want us all to be happy (he said he was always too busy to be sad), so today I've been crafting...catching up on some challenges.

My first card is for last week's challenge over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday...Arlana has created a stonking sketch this week, which I thoroughly enjoyed using......isn't it cute?

Check out the SSW blog to see all the wonderful DT cards.I've opted for pink papers, along with that lovely flowery backing paper to highlight the image.

I've also created another card, using a digi image that I've created on my new graphics pad - this is a new toy for me and I'm not the world's greatest artist, so bear with me on this one!

The image is Wedgie (yes me!) in the garden and I created her for the challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week, which is "in the garden". Whenever I write a note to someone I sign my name and doddle this little lady, it always seems to make people smile so I thought I'd add her to one of my cards!
The cute layout for this card is a sketch from The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, which I've flipped on it's side. Since making it I've realised that I've missed the sentiment out so the ladies might not include me in their draw, but it was still fun to use. I'm also entering this card in the "spots, stripes and sparkle" challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week - the spots and stripes are on the baking papers and I've added sparkle to the flowers and water using my trusty stickles!

I've also done a little baking today....yummy peanut butter muffins....see my baking blog for more photos and the recipe I used!
Thanks for popping by today and I hope to see you soon.
In loving memory of my Dad.

The Good, the bad and the ugly!

Hello there - Happy Monday!

Right...I'm going to start off with the good...this is a card inspired by the theme over at the Shabby Tea Room this week..."luck of the Irish"....they'd like to see green cards!

I know there isn't any four leaf clovers, but it is green! I was asked to make a Birthday card featuring a chameleon and I'm quite pleased with this little fellow! Hope the Shabby Tea Room ladies like him too!

Now for the bad...and I'm warning you it is bad! Have you ever got to a point in life where you start thinking...I just want to get off?!? Well, I think I'm there right now! Too much is happening and I think my little head might just explode! In the meantime it seems that maybe my creative side has imploded as I created this not so fab card this evening...

This card is inspired by this week's sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday...yes I know I'm late this week! Sorry Arlana - I haven't really done your lovely sketch any justice this week!

I also hear you asking "why so many polka dots Wedgie?" ...well that's inspired by the pink polka dot challenge at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week. I normally love polka dots, but I think I went a bit crazy here, maybe I should have stuck to the one backing paper!! Or maybe its that blue ribbon...what possessed me?!? I'm really not keen on this card and I wasn't going to share it with everyone, but hey...I spent time making it so thought it deserved an airing!!

Finally the ugly...well to be honest these aren't that ugly, they're just messy...but I didn't want to name the post - the good, the bad and the messy! I've been baking this evening...this time I've made some yummy biscuits. They've got a delicate almond flavour and the icing is lemon to cut through the sweetness of the biscuit. I had a lot of fun decorating them and they taste delicious!

Right, I'm going to clean up the kitchen now...there is icing everywhere!

Thanks for popping by today, Wedgie xxx

Mono Madness!

Afternoon everyone - what a lovely sunny day its been - its a shame I've been stuck in the office all day...still the bills have to be paid! I'm on annual leave next week - woo hoo! So I hope the sunshine sticks around for a while! Its my Birthday next Friday and I have rather self-indulgently decided to take the whole week off! Ha., ha! I'm going to Gun Wharfs Keys for a spot of shopping with Sheree and I'll be spending a couple of days in London with my boyfriend....if I can part him from his beloved cars that is!! The rest of the time will be spent crafting...utter bliss!

Today's challenge comes from the Cute Card Thursday blog....yes I actually managed to enter my card on a Thursday...it must be a first!! The theme this week is mono madness, so they want cards that feature shades of just one colour.....now you may think that mine will be pink....but no...I've opted for a lovely sunny yellow!

The DT have created some lovely designs, for some inspiration take a peek here!

Maybe its the lovely sunshine, who knows, but today I decided that yellow would make a lovely Birthday card! I've used a cute little chick stamp from the Hugs and Honey range, which I stamped onto yellow paper and cut out (if you look closely you can see my minor mishap - I nearly cut her leg right off!!). Once cut out I decided to add some googly eyes!

I then raided my paper stash for yellow papers and came up with these, which I think look cute together!

I have to admit my stamping wasn't very good today and I got fed up of stamping the same image over and over again....so I cheated! I took my best image and then coloured in the black with a pen! Hee, hee!

My other fab news is that both Lorna and me passed our leadership qualification last night! We had our books signed and the paper work is being sent off....we can now officially run our own Brownie packs / Guide units if we wanted too! Now thats a scary thought!

Well I hope you have enjoyed some sunshine today and have a lovely evening!

Spots before my eyes!

Evening All.....a late one tonight...I'm surprised that I'm still awake as I am soooo sleepy today. The steroids are really messing with my sleep now....only another four days to go, then back to the doctors!

So, tonight I've been working on an exciting little project. Do you remember the other day I showed you my card with the removable cupcake recipe?? Well that got me thinking...at Christmas time I made all my friends a bookmark...Anika in particular has got great use of of her one (she told me today!) and that made me think that they make quite cool little pressies. Sooooo.......I decided to create a card like the cupcake recipe one, but with a removable bookmark!

The card:
I've used the large oblong card again as that gives me the most room. I've used fab spotty backing paper from the Forever Friends range and made a little pocket out of pink paper. I printed my message on the paper before creating the pocket. I then wrapped the pocket with some lovely white spotty ribbon that I got for free (I know - lucky me!) when I bought some glitter glue recently. I've embellished the card with a couple of punched out flowers and used mini glitter spots in the middle of each.

The bookmark:
I've created the bookmark from layered paper and card in pinks and purples (no surprise there reallyt!) that I have then embellished with the same punched flowers as the main card. Again I printed my sentiment before making the bookmark. I have then laminated the bookmark to make it a little stronger. I've punched a hole in the top of the bookmark and threaded some pink ribbon through for a little girlie finishing touch.

I think this would make a lovely card to give to someone who you wanted to give a little gift to....maybe a thank you or a thinking of you gift??

This project also fits in nicely with the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday as they have asked for projects that include spots and dots! The DT have come up with loads of fab variations on the theme...take a peek here.

I also wanted to give my friend a quick mention as I am rather jealous of her current challenge......Fiona is training for this year's London Marathon! I used to be a keen runner myself (pre-knee problems!), but the furthest I ever ran was the Great South Run, which was 10 miles. I am very impressed as this an amazing challenge and I know Fiona and her husband are both training very hard. They are raising money for The Shaw Trust which is a national charity providing training and work opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the workplace due to disability, ill health or other social circumstances. For more info take a peek here.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my latest card.
