A little elegance....

Hello there,

I hope you're having a tea-riffic day!

I have a little project for you today which features two of my favourite things....tea and teacups! I saw this project in a craft magazine and since it included a little bit of sewing as well as card making (my two favourite crafting activities) I thought I would give it a try....

The card is basically an elegant teacup and a little teabag......but here is the cool thing.....you can remove the teabag from the card and use it as a bookmark.....

The teacup is made of patterned papers and is fixed on the card using 3D sticky pads, which creates a little pocket. I've opted for an art deco backing paper for the teacup, which I think is perfect for an elegant teacup.

The teabag is then made out of acetate and little gold stars.....so cute! The tag is made out of card and string and is stitched into place as you sew up the teabag. Using my sewing machine to do this took no time at all, but creates a really cute little bookmark. It was great to be able to use both my card making skills and sewing skills on one project.

I have included my tea themed sentiment on the inside of the card and carried on the gold star theme....

I liked the design so much that I decided to make another one with a slightly more rustic feel....

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - anything goes
Lemon Shortbread - anything goes

Pop by all of these fab blogs to see some gorgeous DT cards!

If you fancy taking a peek at some more teacups and some scrummy cake why not pop by my afternoon tea blog.....

I can make anybody pretty.....

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! I hope you are keeping well!

Well, I wonder if there are any country fans out there now humming a certain song to themselves? Shall we try another couple of lines....

I can make you believe any lie
I can make you pick a fight
With somebody twice your size

Anyone who knows me and my sister will know that we are big Brad Paisley fans and when I saw the challenge theme at Sweet Stampin this week I knew I'd find inspiration from Brad! Our theme is....."inspired by a song".

Anyone who knows me will also know that I have a little bit of a thing for a glass of bubbles....you can give me a lovely glass of Prosecco....or even better a glass of champagne and I am a happy girl! Bubbles are always special.....and make for a lovely Birthday treat....

I have gone with a red and brown colour combo, along with that fab polka dot paper. Those polka dots remind me of my favourite tipple!

I have coloured my image with my Promarkers and then added some sparkle to the glasses and the polka dots.....because everyone should sparkle on their Birthday!

So does anyone know the song yet??

It's ALCOHOL by Brad.....one of his most famous songs and the way he likes to end his live shows. Everyone sings loudly (and badly) and sways along! Its brilliant fun!

Christmas card alert!

Hello there,

Happy Hump Day! I do love Wednesdays....the middle of the working week is here already!

Today I have a Christmas card to share with you....yes I know its only January....but over at Christmas at Sweet Stampin we like to make Christmas cards all year long! We have a brand new challenge for you this month....and one that I found a bit tough if I am honest! The theme is "Nativity" and I really didn't have any suitable stamps or digi images so had to go on a hunt!

I was really pleased to come across this cute snow globe nativity image from Free Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps, if you haven't come across this blog before you really should take a peek!

I've kept the rest of the card fairly simple as the image itself is rather detailed and have coloured my little scene using my Promarkers. Considering I had no idea what I would do for this card I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

For more inspiration on this month's challenge please pop by the Christmas at Sweet Stampin challenge blog. While you are there you can find out about our fab sponsor this month....

Black and White.....and a splash of colour!

Hello there!

I hope you are well and have had a lovely week!

This week has seen three different work Christmas celebrations and my mum's Birthday.....I'm exhausted!! I only have two more work days left....and lucky am able to work at home on those two days, so no more nasty 6:30am commute this year! I am so pleased to type that!

This is my last Sweet Stampin challenge of 2014 and we have decided to leave you with a colour combo challenge....we want to see your black and white cards with a splash of colour on them. It can be any colour....but it must only be a splash!!

I decided to end the year with a trademark cupcake card....

I love this stamp, it's pretty and I think it looks great both coloured and also in back and white. Because there is that lovely berry on the top of the cake, I decided my splash of colour needed to be bright red. To match the elegant cupcake I decided to use a black and white striped backing paper, along with some plain red paper to continue the colour theme.

There is of course some sparkle on the card too!

For more inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards that Team Abi has created this week. While you are there you can also read all about our fab sponsors this week....

We can't wait to see what you've been creating!

A little bit of paper piecing

Hello there,

I hope you are well and have had a good week.

As some of you know I have been here, there and everywhere with work recently. Just this week I have managed a trip to Cheltenham and Manchester, as well as time spent in our head office in Epsom. I've been really busy and exhausted a lot of the time, but I am pleased to report that I've had some brilliant news from work recently. I have been promoted! I am so proud of myself and I just wanted to share with everyone!

Anyway, enough of that...onto this week's challenge from Sweet Stampin. This week we would like to see your paper piecing skills....so grab your favourite stamp and papers and get crafting!

I've kept it nice and simple for this card, letting my images do the talking.....

I've taken two of my favourite stamps and a selection of pretty patterned papers. I have used my Promarkers to add a little details, as well as a little sparkle on the cherry with my Stickles.

I have finished the card with some faux stitching around the edge.

I'm really pleased with how this card has turned out and will probably make some more to send to family.

For more inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at what Team Abi have created. While you're there you can also read all about our fab sponsor this week:

There is also still a little time left to enter my fab afternoon tea competition over on my other blog. To find out more take a peek at Tea With Me and Friends!

Brrr...its a bit chilly....time for a quilt!

Hello there,

Well, if you are in the UK I hope you survived the storm on Sunday night! It was really windy here in Farnham and we lost two of our fence panels....apart from that everything else survived ok.

It's also been Halloween this week, so I hope you all had a spooky time! Last weekend I hosted a Halloween themed afternoon tea for my friends.....

I really love Halloween afternoon teas, you get to be so creative! For this tea we had snail wraps and skull cheese biscuits. We indulged in eyeball cake bites, ghost biscuits and cobweb millionaire shortbreads to name a few of the sweet treats!

To find out more and to see more scrummy photos pop by the Tea with Me and Friends afternoon tea blog!

So, on with this week's challenge from My Time to Craft...this week the weather seems to have got a bit colder and so you might have got your winter quilt out. To mirror the colder weather we'd like to see some quilting on your cards this week....all you need to do is make your background look like a quilt!

I've gone with a pink and brown colour combo that I love - I think it looks so sweet, especially when topped with a cake or two! My image is from Digi Stamp Boutique and I have coloured it with my Promarkers - adding a little sparkle with my Stickles. I've also added some faux stitching to the card and a printed sentiment.

Pop by the My Time to Craft website for more fab inspiration from the DT.

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Things with Wings

Hello there!

I hope you are well and having a fab week......this is a scheduled post from me I'm afraid....as I am currently relaxing in Spain with the girlies! I flew out last Sunday afternoon...so hopefully by now I am well rested and relaxed!

I am here today with a new challenge from Sweet Stampin...this week we'd like to see your creations featuring things with wings!

I opted for a butterflies for my card....

When I made this card, the weather had just started to change and I was feeling quite gloomy! So I decided to create a really bright card, with splashes of red, blue and yellow! My image has been coloured with my Promarkers, and I have added a little sparkle with my Stickles.

Hello there! Happy Tuesday!

Its lovely to see you today...I hope you are keeping well! So, its the beginning of December and I am definitly enjoying the Christmas spirit! I am visiting a big Christmas market with my mum and sister tonight and I can't wait! After the fair we'll go for some dinner too, its a lovely tradition that we have started in recent years.

So, another Tuesday means its time for a new challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion....and this week we're flying in the face of tradition! We'd like to see your Christmas creations...but you cannot use any red or green on your card anywhere!!

I've opted for a modern sentiment to go with my modern Christmas card.....

I love this sentiment...it always makes me giggle!! I've opted for pinks and blues for my card, along with that fab Merry Christmas backing paper.

My cute DigiStamp Boutique image has been coloured with Promarkers and I've asdded a little sparkle to her shopping bags with my Stickles. A simple, but pleasing card I think!

Its a tad bit windy out there!!

Hope you're having a good week and haven't been blown away in all that wind....not sure whats worse really the gusts of winds from today or the heavy rain from earlier in the week!! Both making driving my little car a nightmare!!

Anyway, enough of my weather moaning...it could be a lot worse....time for some crafting instead!! I haven't posted since Monday and so I have some challenges to catch up with! Here is my card for today....I've gone with something a little bit different today:

I love this pretty colour combo, I think it makes a really sweet card. I've used a stamp that I've had for ages but never used....I think it makes a lovely focal point for this card. I've coloured it with my Promarkers and added some die cut flowers in the bottom right hand corner.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - that cute sketch
Passion for Promarkers - cut it out (use die cuts)
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
DYSU - Case the DT - be inspired by the DT creations - I loved the flower image that Ren-Yi used on her card and so decided to use flowers on my card!

Pop by all the blogs to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week!

By the way....Passion for Promarkers have a mini DT call at the moment...pop by their blog to find out more!

It's a man's world!

Right...I'm back...the card was actually near enough finished!

So, the challenge set by Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge this week is "It's a man's world", as you know I'm not keen on men's cards....I can't really use pinks on them! However, whenever I come across a challenge for a man's card I try to enter because as we all know....practice makes perfect! If you're stuck for ideas take a peek at the blog and see the gorgeous DT cards!

You'll no doubt recognise the image as I've used it before. It always reminds me of my boyfriend, so I love using this stamp! I was tempted to add a pair of glasses to make it really look like Joe...but I didn't want to ruin the card with my doodles!

I've opted for a very bright colour scheme as you may have noticed. Not only does this make it a very lively, fun card...but it also fits in with this week's challenge over at Allsorts! Their theme this week is primary colours....and they asked that we used a minimum of two...so I went the whole hog and used all three! If you want to see other cards using the primary colours, take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards over at Allsorts.

I'm pleased to tell you all that I am loving my new laptop, I'm amazed at how quickly it zooms about the web! So no more moaning from me about slow computers...my friend Sheree will be pleased if she reads this!

I'm also very excited because this Friday I am off to Germany for a long weekend with my lovely sister Lorna...we're off to see the Rhine in Flames, an event that I love. The Rhine in Flames is a summer long celebration that takes place in the towns and villages on the banks of the Rhine. There are amazing fire work displays and of course gorgeous german wine. I'm a huge fan of German wine (very unfashionable I know) - I'm sorry that its not well represented in the shops here...but at least that gives me an excuse to go on a trip! Hee, hee!

Right, I'm off...I woudl say I'm going to try and get an early night, but since I'm already sat at my craft desk we all know thats a fib!

Thanks for stopping by today and taking a peek at my cards.

Take a peek through a christmas window.....

....and what will you see??

Hello everyone, hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend. Mine was nice, uneventful, but fun! This evening I have a little Christmas card for you....I haven't been very good with my christmas challenges over the last few weeks so I decided to crack on and get at least one finished!

Now the main inspiration for this card is the challenge over at Bah! Humbug! this week, where the lovely ladies have asked for a project featuring "through the window". What a cool challenge! The DT have created some lovely cards - go take a peek!

Here is my window scene....

As you know I love easel cards and luckily enough the challenge over at Winter Wonderland is an easel card with sparkle and shine! The ladies have created some lovely cards this week, take a peek! I managed to make mine so shiny that I couldn't take a decent photo without the flash ruining the image slightly - still I hope you get the idea! I've used a selection of patterened, coloured and shiny papers and card to create this window scene. My scene outside the window features two images that I got free with a craft magazine - I never know how to use these when I get them and usually end up with loads of them! So hopefully I've used them well this time!

I've been looking for other Christmas challenges this week and come across two other blogs that I'd also like to enter this card into. There is ABC Christmas Challenge a fortnightly challenge blog where the current theme is P is for presents with the added option of lace....if you peek out of my window you will see lots of lovely pressies waiting to be delivered! I have also found Die Cut Dreams, which is another weekly christmas challenge blog. Their theme this week is snowmen.....I'm hoping they'll let me enter this card even though my snowman isn't that obvious! You should take a peek at both of these blogs for gorgeous cards!

Anyway, I think I'm going to post again with another card in a bit....I've been busy creating a manly card for another challenge, it just needs finishing and then I'll back be!

One for the boys!

Evening All - we're half way through the week - woo hoo!

Well I'm in a much better crafty mood today...after my usual Wednesday night at Brownies and Guides I decided to sit at my craft desk and try a new card technique out. I needed a card for a boy for this week's challenge over at the Creative Cottage and I hope they don't mind that mine is one for a rather little boy!! Take a peek at the lovely Creative Cottage blog to see the gorgeous DT cards for some inspiration!

This is a shaker card that I've made for a baby boy. I saw an article in a craft magazine recently about shaker cards and decided to give it a go. I was actually surprised at how easy it is to make these fab cards!

All you really need is some white and coloured papers, some acetate, some seed beads and sequins or other small items to put in the shaker bit and lots of 3D sticky pads! Easy peasy!

You can make these gorgeous cards in all sorts of shapes......

Anyway, panic over - it looks like I might not have lost my crafty mojo after all! Thanks to everyone for their comments after my last grumpy post! Your comments are always so lovely and supportive.

Thanks for popping by my blog today,

Blooming Gorgeous!

Evening All! Hope you've had a good Monday! Aaarrgghhhhh!! My computer is driving me insane!! Its so slow - its almost as if its taunting me!! Right, thats my rant over with!!

Cupcake Craft Challenge has a lovely little challenge this week - the theme is Blooming Charming and they want to see projects that feature blooms and charms.....I have to admit I read it wrong to start with and missed off the charm all together....I can be so silly sometimes!! I only realised my mistake after I scanned the card in and started writing this post!!!!!

To be honest I feel like I've lost my crafting mojo at the moment....I have lots of great ideas (or at least I think I do), but I just can't seem to get them made. When I fianlly make a card it looks wrong! I'm hoping this is just a passing phase and I'll be my industrious crafty self again very soon!!!

This card is made using a free stamp that I've just got with a craft magazine. I found it quite hard to use, I think because its quite a small stamp. I found the whole process hard...from the stamping to the actual colouring!!

Oh dear...this hasn't been a good crafting evening and I think its time for bed!

Thanks for popping by today, I promise to be back to my positive self when you stop by next!!

A new post at last!!

Evening All! I hope you are all keeping well and if you're in the UK you had a lovely bank holiday weekend! It feels like an age since I last posted!!

I spent Friday and Saturday in Llandow with Joe who was competing in the 2nd round of the British Drifting Championships...he did really well again coming 18th...I'm so proud of him! We didn't get up to much else really....in fact I'm not sure where the rest of my weekend went!! My knee is finally starting to feel much better.....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....its been a very long tunnel mind you!!

So, this evening I would like to share the following card with you....

I've created this card for three different challenges:

Sir Stampalot monthly challenge - butterflies and blossoms

I hope this card fits the bill for all three challenges, the DT for each blog have come up with some fab creations, click on the names above to see what they've created!

I've used a stamped image which I coloured with water colour pencils for my animal and blossoms, I created some handmade butterflies from paper for the butterfly requirement and I hope the image and sentiment create the theme of friendship. The gorgeous patterened paper used in the background comes from the Creative Cottage and is part of their fab May freebie - thanks Ladies!

Anyway, just a quick post this evening, I'll be back tomorrow with another card, but now my bed is calling!

Thanks for stopping by,

Another day!

Morning all....no moaning this morning I promise! After I logged off last nighe I decided to go and make a new card to soothe my nerves...that and a good night's sleep seem to have done the trick! Here is the result....

This cute little card was created to fit in with two challenges this week.....

First off we have the distressed challenge over at the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, it can be any kind of distressing technique...I went for my favourite paper tearing! The DT have created some wonderful designs to inspire everyone, take a peek.here.

The second challenge comes from Cupcake Craft Challenge where they are looking for projects that are not square....fab challenge!! Take a look at the fab designs the DT have come up with. I was going to be clever and use a flower shaped card, but I couldn't decide how to decorate it last night and went for something simplier - a series of rectangles.....I just hope I get away with the little checks on the patterned paper!!!

This card was made with a collection of plain and patterned papers, along with a stamped image that I coloured using my water colour pencils. I also added a stamped sentiment, a piece of funky green ribbon and some sticky gems for a little sparkle.

Today I have a full day of training at work...its an impact and influencing course...sounds very interesting! I hope you have a good day, whatever you're up to!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Something for the Girls!

Afternoon All! Hope you're all well today!

I've just come across a fab blog called Magical Crafts where they run fortnightly craft challenges, they encourage crafters who use all different techniques to enter their challenges. This fortnight's challenge is called "Something for the girls!", which I think is a fab theme! The DT creations are all so lovely, pop by here to take a peek.

I actually made the perfect card for this challenge last night, it all started with the sentiment which I thought was fab.......

Hee, hee! Now wouldn't you just love to get this card from your friend?!?

The sentiment was created on the computer, the backing papers came from my stash - I've got a new punch that I wanted to try out....I like the pretty edging it gave me. The bra is made out of patterend paper and I've added some pretty pink lace to the edge. I then made the bra straps out of ribbon!

I showed this to mum once I was finished and she just burst out laughing......at least I made her smile!

The weather forecast is still looking good for the weekend....I feel so sorry for all those runners on Sunday....I think they'll be having a rather hot run this year! If anyone reading this post is taking place in the marathon I wish you all the best - I hope you enjoy it! I haven't run in so long now!!

Right, thats all for today.....thanks for popping by!

Going Green!

Evening all! I've decided to squeeze another post in today....I've just finished an evening with the Brownies and Guides, but before then and after work I managed to made a new card for this week's challenge over at the Creative Cottage!

I was so pleased when I popped over to their fab blog earlier and discovered that I've been awarded their favourites badge again...you'll see it's taken pride of place with my other one on my sidebar...its such an honour to be picked again.....a HUGE thank you to the all the ladies.

They've picked a fab challenge for this week...it's called "going green" and you can either enter cards that feature the colour green or that has something recycled on it. I decided to try and be clever and have both kinds of green on my card......

So, this little new home card features the sentiment and the fab little house from the Creative Cottage "Home Sweet Home" digi kit (I hope that I'm allowed that bit of pink, I think it looks fab aganist the green!!).

I've also used a selection of green backing papers, a piece of zingy green ribbon and a selection of green buttons....the buttons are the recycled items! Oh, and I managed to squeeze in a bit of green glitter glue too....I love a bit of sparkle!

The DT cards are all as lovely as ever, pop over to the blog and take a peek. There are so many different shades of green!!

Right, I'm going to go and put my feet up I think...my knee is playing up again and its starting to make me a bit grumpy!!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog,
Wedgie xxx

Time for a quote!

Morning All, a really quick post this morning as I've just discovered a fab challenge over on the My Time To Craft blog - they want projects that feature a quote....and I love finding quotes for my cards! Here is one of my favourites......

I know this is a popular quote, but it also always makes people smile when they see it! You should pop over the My Time To Craft and see all the lovely cards that the DT have designed, they are all so different, take a peek here!

This was a simple card to make, I've used some fab shiny blue backing paper and topped that with that cute cupcake paper. I've used my favourite dotty ribbon underneath. The cupcake is made from scrap paper, and I added a little sparkle to my cherry!

Anyway, I'm off to work now....I'll be back later hopefully with my Creative Cottage entry for this week!

Thanks for popping by today,

How romantic....

....hello everyone...hope you've had a good day today....isn't this sunshine lovely...it doesn't have to be blazing hot....just the sun being there makes me smile!

So, I didn't really tell you that much about my Birthday yesterday....the hotel in London was amazing, I had breakfast in bed on my actual Birthday...something everyone should treat themselves to I think! I spent a lot of time with my lovely boyfriend Joe just relaxing...he is treating me to a lovely pressie this year...he's taking me to Cornwall for a long weekend in the summer and I can't wait! We can't have our usual week surfing together because of his stupid drifting competitions, but this way I still get to go to Newquay and hopefully my knee will be better by then and I'll actually be able to surf!! Its such a thoughtful present from Joe, I'm very lucky.

While I was in a romantic mood this evening I decided to create this cute little wedding card

This card is for two card challenges - the Papertake Weekly Challenge and the Bee Crafty challenge. Over at Papertake Weekly they gave us this fab sketch to play with. I love sketch challenges because everyone's designs are so different - take a peek at the DT cards to see what I mean! The DT designs are all so lovely, such brilliant inspiration!

Then pop over to the Bee Crafty blog where they are asking for designs for either a wedding, wedding anniversary or engagement....this fitted in perfectly with my romantic mood! This challenge has to include a digi image...I've used this cute wedding couple one from Bee Crafty. Take a peek here to see the beautiful DT designs.

As well as the basic sketch and the digi image I've also created my own little heart embellishment out of jewellery wire and some tiny pink seed beads. I've attached this to the back of the sentiment, which is attached to the card with 3D sticky pads.

The supper club was great fun yesterday, it was held in a local bar in Surbiton and I went along with my lovely sister Lorna. We had three delicious courses....although there were scallops in the starter and I hate scallops....luckily Lorna really liked them! Pudding was my favourite...a gorgeous creamy trifle - yummy!

Anyway, I'm off now...I want to watch Heston's amazing creations!
