Sparkle and Shine

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! I hope you're well and had a lovely week!

Today I'm back with a lovely new challenge for you from Sweet Stampin - this week we would like to see your cards sparkle and shine! See - I told you it's a lovely challenge!

Those of you that know me won't be surprised to hear that I went down the girly route for this card...featuring two of my favourite things....

I have combined two image for this card - the cute little cocktail, along with the plate of cakes (two things that should be enjoyed on your Birthday!). My image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added some sparkle to the cocktail and the cakes with my Stickles.

I've opted for a purple and green colour combo, one that I really like. I've added some shine to the patterned papers by highlighting some of the stars and polka dots with my glossy accents.

For more inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at what the lovely Team Abi have created this week. While you're there you can read all about our fab sponsor this week....

If you also fancy drooling over some lovely afternoon tea photos you should take a peek at my other blog - Tea With Me and Friends. I promise lots of scrummy photos and afternoon chat - with none of the calories!

A card for that special lady.....

Hello there,

I hope you are well today and have had a fab week!

I'm back today with a new challenge from Sweet Stampin. This week we'd love to see your cards for Mother's Day...or for a special lady. Now maybe rather predictably my card features some cakes......

....rather a lot of cakes! Hee, hee!

Now there is a really good reason behind these cakes and the sentiment, as its become tradition that my sister and I treat mum to afternoon tea each day on Mother's Day. In fact that's where our obsession with afternoon tea first began....I can still remember the first tea we indulged in at The Savoy. Little did I know then the passion it would ignite....one that would lead to me writing a blog dedicated to the art of afternoon tea!

For more inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin DT blog to take a peek at Team Abi's gorgeous DT cards! While you're there you can also find out about our fab sponsors....

While we're talking about Team Abi I must tell you about my excitement this weekend! Tomorrow I am going to the Country 2 Country event at the O2 in London....and the lovely Abi will be there too! In fact we're sitting in the same row! I am soooo excited! There are lots of country stars appearing...but the head liner and the reason why we are soooo excited is Brad Paisley! I can't wait!

Cocktails and Cupcakes

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope that you've had a fab week!

Welcome back to another challenge from My Time to Craft...this week we'd like to see you feature two different images on one card. I decided to make a card featuring two of my favourite things.....

Every birthday should include cupcakes and cocktails!

My images have been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a little sparkle with my Stickles. I opted for a zingy green and purple colour combo...I love these colours together, they always make me smile!

Put a hole in it!

Morning All,

I hope you are well today and had a lovely week.

I've been back at work this week.....I can't believe my week off flew by so quickly! In fact nor can anyone at work...people keep asking when I'm on leave and can't believe it when I say I've already had my holiday!! I feel a bit cheated!!

Anyway, we have another challenge for you this week at My Time to Craft this week - the theme this week is "aperture"....basically we want to see a hole on your card somewhere!!

Here is my creation....I've gone back to my roots this week and I've gone with cupcakes!!

I've also gone a little spotty!

I love this cute stamp and I haven't used it in a while, once stamped the image was coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a little sparkle with my Stickles. I have used two different spotty papers and some spotty ribbon. I have stamped a hole in my card and have stamped a mini cupcake inside the card. My sentiment is also stamped.

Pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see the gorgeous cards that the DT have created for this challenge!

I'd also like to enter this challenge in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - anything goes

If you get the chance pop by these fab blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards!

During my holiday last week I went for a wonderful themed afternoon tea - I embraced my inner child and sampled a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired afternoon tea! I have to say that this was one of the best themed teas I've experienced

Cupcakes, cupcakes everywhere!!

Hello there! Fancy seeing you here!

I hope you are well today!

Well its been another really busy week...I'm lucky enough to have Christmas card orders coming out of my ears this year...my designs have proved really popular!! Plus I've got my large consultant event that I am organising...its finally taking place this Friday at the Savoy in London. Its been so much hard work and I now have 75 people attending the event...fingers crossed it goes well!!

Despite all this I've still managed to make some time for some crafting....well all work and no play makes me a very grumpy girl!!

I'm not entirely sure that I'm happy with this card....I think its a bad photo and I rushed the card a little!

My clean and simple card features just three colours....black, white and pink!A very elegant colour combo I think! I've used an oldie, but a goodie sentiment...this one always makes me smile! My cupcakes are stamped and coloured with my Promarkers and I've added a lot of sparkle to my icing with some fab glitter glue. Its the shame that the bling hasn't shown up very well!! Finally I added some faux black stitching to one side of the card.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - black, white and one other
Allsorts - bling

Pop by all these blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created!

Hello there!

Me again! This is my second post for today...if you are looking for my Celebrate the Occasion card please scroll down!

Sooooo....over at My Time to Craft we have a fab colour combo challenge for you this week...we'd like to see your cards featuring black, white and one other colour.

Here is my card....

I love this sentiment....its one I use quite a lot, but I think its fab and totally agree with it!! I've opted for black, white and pink for my card.

I've used plain black paper as the background, topped with some hot pink patterned paper. I then added an oblong of black and white polka dot paper...before adding my cute cupcakes! I've coloured my cupcakes with my Promarkers and added a little bit of sparkle to the bows with my Stickles. Finally I added Glossy Accents to the frosting.

Pop by the My Time to Craft blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created for you this week.

I'd also like to enter this card over at:
The Pink Elephant - use patterned paper

A tough challenge!

Hello folks, Happy Saturday!

Well, if you popped by my blog earlier this week you'll know that I am currently in Norfolk watching Joe drift his car around a track!

But I couldn't resist joining Team Fi for this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week! The challenge is a difficult one.....you've got to pick and use your favourite stamp! Soooo....I got thinking....and here is my card....

Bet you're not surprised to see some cupcakes on my card! I love this sweet stamp, I've had it for a while now and it never fails to make me smile. It can also be used for soooo many occasions.

I've also gone with my favourite colours....pink and purple and added some polka dots (I love them!!).

Don't forget to pop by Team Fi's DT blogs to see all the fab cards they've created!

Bright & Light

Happy Tuesday!

Well, I know I said it was weird weather last week...but the last 24 hours have been mad!! Yesterday was quite dull and windy, last night there was a thunder storm so loud that it actually woke me up, this morning I drove to work in the rain and now there is beautiful sunshine outside my window! Bizarre!!

The challenge this week at Passion for Promarkers is "Bright & Light".....soooo they want to see either a brightly coloured image and a lightly coloured background or vice versa.....interesting!! I opted for a bright image on a lighter background.....

I found this challenge quite challenging as I'd never tried anything like this before. I knew the look I wanted, but I don't think I've quite achieved it here....never mind practice makes perfect!!

As well as Passion for Promarkers I'd also like to enter this card in the "anything goes" challenge over at Papertake Weekly this week.

Pop by both blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created as inspiration.

Just a short post tonight, as dinner is nearly ready - stuffed peppers - yummy!!

Black and White Christmas

Evening Folks!

I've had another fab evening....tonight I've made a card for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge and I've made the cutest mini cupcakes with a new caramel frosting recipe...its divine!

First off the card....the Cupcake challenge this week is "Black and White Christmas"...not the usual colours that you've associate with Christmas, however this combo makes for a very stylish Christmas card! I've used a new sentiment stamp that I bought in the sales after last Christmas and made a cute snowman to accompany the sentiment....

Isn't the sentiment cute?? I've used patterned backing paper for Mrs Snowman's hat and I've embellished my card with my trusty stickles...adding a little sparkle to the card.
Pop by the Cupcake blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Now for the cakes.....I opted for mini cupcakes tonight because they are so easy to make, you only need half a batch of cupcake batter to make rather a lot of mini cupcakes! Plus I don't feel as guilty when I eat them! The cupcakes are vanilla with a caramel frosting and decorated with mini chocolate chips! I'm so glad I found this new caramel frosting, its smooth and very tasty! Thank you Rafina for sharing your backing magazine with me today!

Thanks for stopping by today...I'm off to eat cupcakes!

Sketch Time!

Hello campers, how are you today?

I have a little card that I'd like to share with you today, this is based on a wonderful old sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.....

...isn't it a cute sketch? Check out the SSW blog to see how the DT have used this sketch on their fab cards!

I hope you like the sentiment...its a bit long, but I think its fab! It comes from a book of sayings that I've got on display in my room at mum's place. I love flipping through it, as they all make me smile!

Now, I've been practising with my Promarkers again and created this card with this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers in mind. This week they have a colour combo theme - blue and brown (or you can opt for pink and brown). Pop over to their blog and see all their gorgeous creations. While I'm thinking about my Promakers I'd love to ask you all some advice - what card and ink do you use when stamping images that you'll colour with your Promarkers? Any advice will be gratefully recieved!

One last thing I have to share with you all is my latest bake.....well it wouldn't be one of my posts without a little cake action!! These are lemon cupcakes made with lemon juice and rind - they taste delicious! I wanted to make pretty cakes and so spent a bit of time on my icing - flooding the cake first and then adding the detail!
Thanks for popping by my blog today, its lovely to read your comments. Don't forget to pop back on Saturday to see my first official challenge at Sweet Stampin....I'm soooo excited!!!

Chocolate!

I love chocolate...in my opinion you can never have too much of it! I'm not really a fan of white chocolate because it tends to be a bit too creamy for me...but I love milk chocolate and dark chocolate....and most things chocolate flavoured! Saying that I'm not a huge fan of Easter eggs...the chocolate always seems a bit fake!

Anyway, inspired by this thought and the sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week I created this card....

The sketch is very cute and fun to use....I love those cute little circles! Hey, what can I say...I'm easily pleased! I've used pinks, creams and browns for this card. The stamp is one I've had for a while, but I never really use...not sure why...it always makes me smile! Check out all the DT cards on the SSW blog - they're all so gorgeous!

I've also been practicing my iced roses as I'm teaching the Guides how to make them in a couple of weeks time. They're quite easy to make, but look fab! These ones are quite small and really need to be a bit thiner to make them look more delicate.

Right, I better get going...I'm making biscuits this evening. By popular request I'm making more iced ring biscuits!

Thanks for popping by today,

Lots of sweet circles!

Hello there - I can't believe it's Monday evening again already...where does the time go?? Well, I had a fab weekend...I've been catching up on my movie watching and managed to squeeze in Shutter Island and the newest Alice in Wonderland this weekend. I also saw Rick Astley and the Luddites....if you ever get the chance to see them I highly recommend them! Rick Astley is an awesome drummer and we had a brilliant evening!

This evening I've been catching up with Lorna and Anika at Krispy Kreme....yes I can confirm I ate (or inhaled as Anika pointed out) more than one!! Very naughty I know! I've also got a very naughty but nice card to share with you this evening.....

This sweet card is perfect for two different challenges...Cupcake Craft Challenges has a food theme this week and Stamp Fairy has a "Circles and more circles" theme.

I love this cute little stamp, its that free one again (maybe thats why I like it so much!!) and I couldn't resist adding some glitter on the icing again! I also love this dotty backing paper, it always makes me smile!

I'd like to say a huge well done to work Becca...who passed her theory driving test this morning....I knew she could do it! And I'd also like to remind Anika of the questions she needs for tomorrow!!

Thanks for stopping by today, if you get the chance pop over to the other blogs too...the DT cards are gorgeous!

More cupcakes!

Hello there!

Dinner last night was lovely...although the service was soooo slow.....I hate it when they're so slow in a restuarant that you forget which course you're on!! Anyway, when I came home I had time to finish off a card I was making for the latest Sketch and Stash challenge.

Cute sketch don't you think? I enjoyed using this one....I used various pink backing papers, along with some gorgeous ribbon. The image is a new Papermania stamp (new stash) that I bought after using the free one I got with a magazine last week! That marketing ploy worked wonderfully on me!!

The Sketch and Stash Challenge also have a DT call this week and I would really love to be part of their team.

Right, work becons....plus I've got a doctor's appointment and a physio session today!! Better get my skates on!

Pimms Cupcakes!

Morning! Hope you're having a good weekend!

Remember yesterday I said I'd been baking...well this morning I've been decorating and here are the finished cupcakes....I've created a Pimms cupcake....and topped it with orange and strawberry icing.

I'm pleased with how they look, although I did rush things a little and so the icing isn't as well mixed as I would have liked. I hope they taste good too! The cute stand was a Christmas pressie from Joe, aren't I lucky?

As well as decorating the cakes I've also done a spot of quick crafting....I wanted to make a clean and simple card for the PaperPlay challenge this week...not an easy thing to do for me! I love my colours and embellishments!!  While looking through my stash which is at Joe's I found an old rub on sheet of borders that I've had for ages and I decided to have a bash! I can't remember the last time I experimented with rub ons, but I do remember not liking them very much! However, this morning I found them quite easy to use....

I've used the rub on borders, a stamp, a black pen and a teeny bit of glitter on this card, I hope I've kept it simple enough for the challenge! Since I've tried the rub ons for this card I'd also like to enter it in this week's "try something different" challenge over at Sweet Stampin Challenge.

Right, I'd better get going...I'm running late!

Feeling a tad bit girlie!

Hello there!

For today's card I've come over all girlie! No surpirse there really....I think everyone knows how much I love my girlie cards! After work and before my Brownie planning meeting I had fun playing with a new fab sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and a lovely new cupcake stamp that I got free with a magazine!

I'd also like to enter this card in the new Creative Cottage Challenge where the theme is "something new". This stamp is part of a new Papermania range which is simply yummy! It hasn't come out very well in the photo, but I've added some sparkle to the icing of the cupcakes using my trusty stickles!

I forgot to tell you yesterday...I had my first new experience of 2011....while at my physiotherapy session yesterday I was stabbed with needles!! Yes, I got to try accupuncture...and to be honest I'm not sure that I liked it! It was supposed to help with my knee and to help me sleep (I'm finding it really hard to sleep at the moment - both dropping off and staying asleep seem to be a problem!!).

Right, talking of sleep I need to at least try and get a decent nights sleep! Thanks for stopping by today, hopefully I'll see you again soon.

Another lovely day!

Hello there, yet another post from me! I'm on a roll this week!

It's my sister's Birthday this week and I kick started the celebrations today by taking her to a lovely hotel in London called One Aldwych. We had a lovely brunch with a glass of bubbly and then watched the film up in their private cinema. The food was yummy and they even made Lorna's pudding even more special....

...that was a rather delicious piece of Brownie! After the film we wander around the Christmas market on the soth bank. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday!

I'm now watching X Factor while doing a little bit of crafting...the perfect end to a perfect Sunday!

This week's challenge over at Allsorts is "light up the night", so they would like to see a candle somewhere on our projects. I've opted for a Birthday card rather than a Christmas card for this one and I'll warn you that it's very pink.....

For this cupcake Birthday card complete with Birthday candle I've used a Creative Cottage digi image, along with a lot of pink paper and ribbon from my stash. I created the sentiment on my computer. The layout for this card comes from the sketch over at Papertake Weekly,  I really enjoyed using this sketch as its nice and clean.

Well I never!

If you read my post yesterday you'll know that its been a hectic couple of weeks for me, full of mini incidents. It was Monday today and I thought maybe a new week would bring better things...but no! I had a blow out in the middle lane of the A3 this morning at 7:30am! I managed to get over to the hard shoulder...but it was a really skinny hard shoulder and I was really worried that a big lorry was going to hit my teeny car! What a scary experience! I then had to wait in the cold until National Rescue came and rescued me at 8:50am!! I was sooooo cold!!

I really hope that tomorrow brings better things!

Any how...here is my card for today....

This cupcake Birthday card fits in with three challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - Light it up - feature a candle somewhere on your project
Cute Card Thursday - Blast from the past - pick any old challenge...I went for challenge 110 - make your own
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - recipe - 3 snowflakes, 2 circles and lace

I liked using a red and black colour combo for a change...its a bit different from all the pink and purple that I love so much! I always enjoy making my own embellishments.

Hooray...It's Wednesday!

I love Wednesdays! It's the middle of the working week, and I get a new sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday!

I started new medication for my knee today which is both good news and bad. I really hope this medication works as I've been having issues with my knee since last November now, I can't believe its been so long! On the bad side I'm currently suffering one of the main side effects of the drug - nausea. I've got to take this medication once a week for the next three months and I really hope I don't spend all my Wednesday afternoons feeling sick!!

Oh well, things could be much worse and at least I had a fab sketch to play with when I got home from work. Arlana has created another lovely sketch for us to use, which I decided to flip again this week!

Isn't that a lovely sketch? Pop over to the SSW Blog to see how all the fab DT used the sketch. As well as an assortment of papers, I've used some mini cupcakes and lots of glitter glue to create this card.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice something a little bit different on this card...yes I've added some embossed cupcakes! This is for the embossing challenge over at the Creative Cottage. The challenge this week is to use either dry or wet embossing on your project. I still haven't got the hang of wet embossing (not sure why but I just can't do it!) so I decided to use my trusty Cuttlebug to make these cute little cupcakes.

I'm off to make a Birthday card that someone at work has requested...its for a man who is turning 50 and he enjoys dancing, piano playing and good wine. I'm looking forward to making this card!

Thanks for stopping by today and thank you to everyone for your lovely comments, I always love reading them.

Sweet Halloween Wishes

Hi there! We've got some friends coming over for dinner tonight...I've used a trusty Nigella recipe which involved throwing a load of ingredients in the oven...Joe has quickly popped out and so I decided to use my spare half an hour to make a card!

Before I share my sweet halloween card with you I just wanted to give a shout out to a company that has helped me at work recently. As part of my job I organise national events for doctors and for the next event I wanted some fun button badges, I searched the internet looking for a company to use and stumbled upon Button Badges. They make button badges to order and offer three different services depending on how much time you've got. They offer a brilliant, quick service and answered all the questions I had...yes I had lots! Their prices are amazing and the end product was brilliant. If you ever need any custom button badges you should give them a try!

Right, onto my card for this evening...can you believe that I managed to miss the Cupcake Craft Challenge last week?? Not sure what happened there, so I decided I better look at their challenge this week and get a card made! They've asked for a project which features a sweet treat with a halloween twist...so I decided to make a cupcake....as you do! Pop over to their blog to see the other sweet halloween projects.

A week or so ago I made a Halloween cupcake card using a kit from the Creative Cottage, this time I decided to make my own spooky cupcake! I've used red and green backing papers and then used a selection of orange and yellow papers to make my halloween cupcake. I accessorised my cupcake with handmade spiders and added some glitter to my icing. I've got limited supplies at Joe's at the moment, so please excuse my dodgy spiders!

Right...all chaos has broken out here...my guests have arrived, dinner is ready and Joe has come back all at the same time....I better get going!

Thanks for stopping by today,

A cute colour combo!

Evening All,

Hope you've all had a good Monday. Mine was the usual....work all day, then home for a bit of baking and card making! I seem to have got into a bit of a pattern of baking on a Monday evening! I've been asked to make a card for a friend and as the Birthday girl is a bit of a shoe-aholic I decided to use on of my favourite designs...

The colour scheme was inspired by a challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week.....the lovely ladies have asked for projects with a pink and brown theme. Take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards on the blog!

As I said this design will probably be familiar to some of my regular blog friends...I love this sentiment and I often use the same template for the shoes. I've never done it with a pink and brown colour scheme before.....I also haven't used buttons on the shoes before (or at least I don't think I have!).

Do you remember those teapot biscuits from yesterday? They are nearly all gone already thanks to friends and family! However, I managed to do a little decorating before they all went.... I've traced the outline of the biscuits with some fab glitter icing.
I've also made some fab pina colada cupcakes this evening! You'll see from the photo that I won't be winning any prizes for these ones...they're not exactly the prettiest cakes I've ever made! They are made using coconut milk and pineapple....just what you need to brighten up these grey September days.

Thanks for stopping by today, I'm going to curl up in bed now with a book I think! Yes, I know its early, but I'm freezing cold!!
