Whoops.....better late than never....

Hello there,

So, I was supposed to post this card yesterday, as we have a fab new challenge for you over at Christmas at Sweet Stampin.....but I got a little dis-organised by a weekend of country music at the O2 with the lovely Abi and Sammy from the Sweet Stampin family! I enjoyed the twang and cowboy hats a little bit too much and forgot to get my card organised!

Anyway, as they say....better late than never!

Our challenge this month is a "Blue Christmas" - interpret that however you like, as long as you create a Christmas card and there is some stamping involved! Here is my card....

I love this little cutie!

I've used a blue and white polka do background to mirror the snow in my image, I have then added some more blue and white patterned paper and a little Dollie! I have added a little colour to my card with my Promarkers and then added a little sparkle with some Stickles (you know me....I can't resist a spot of glitter!).

For more blue Christmas inspiration pop by the Christmas at Sweet Stampin Challenge blog....while you're there you can take a peek at our lovely sponsor this week....

As you can see Lorna and I thoroughly got into the spirit of country with our hats and checked shirts....

Frame It!

Hello there!

Happy Saturday! I hope you've had a lovely week.

This week I am back with a new challenge from My Time To Craft - the title of this week's challenge is "Frame It!" and we'd like to see your images framed in some way.

My card was created for a friend who asked me to create a bespoke birthday card for one of her friend's who likes budgies.....

Hee, hee! I found this fab image after scouring the Internet for budgie images....I love the fact that hes a little comical! I have coloured him with my Promarkers using a photo of a real budgie as a guide. I have framed my image with a light blue border, punctuated with that lovely bright blue stripe. I have also added small faux stitches as a border to the image (if you peer really closely you'll see them!).

For more frame it inspiration pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog and take a peek at all the fab DT cards that have been created this week!

Something a little bit different....

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope you are well and had a good week! Mine has been soooo busy, but at least its the weekend now. I have my best friend Becca and my sister visiting me today...I can't wait to see them to catch up and have a bit of girlie time. There will be lots of food and giggles...and some wine tasting!

We have a new challenge for you this week at My Time to Craft which is something I don't really experiment with...we'd like to see some decoupage on your creation this week! I have to admit I did struggle with this a little...I know the principal...I'm just not very neat!!

I have really let the decoupage do the speaking on this card...I've gone with a blue colour combo as this seemed to match my image quite nicely....but I decided aganist any sentiment or any other embellishment.

The image is printed in a lot more layers than I have used....I only went for three layers in the end as I found it very fiddly....but I am still pleased with the result.

Pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see some more inspiration from the fab Design Team!

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - anything goes
Crafty Sentiments - anything goes

Making a Scene!

Hi there!! First day of the week gone already!

So, I got iced in at home today...luckily I had my work laptop with me and so I was able to work from home. The road outside my house was basically an ice skating rink...I could have charged people to have a go!!

Sooo....those fab Cupcake Craft Challenge ladies have an awesome challenge for us this week...they want us to create a scene...how cool! If you need some inspiration pop over to their blog and see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created....

I decided to combine an old faithful stamp with something a little floral....

Normally the pretty lady is enjoying her cup of tea at the table on her own, today I decided she needed some pretty flowers to make her smile some more (although if you ask me she looks like she's really enjoying that cup of tea!!).

I've stamped both images and coloured them with my Promarkers. You'll notice that my colour palette is slightly limited in this card...thats because Love to Create has asked us to share our favourite three colours with them. Everyone knows that I LOVE purple...but I also like a bit of pink....but today I decided to shun my inner girlieness and go with purple, green and blue for my favourite colours (if I was allowed a fourth I'd definitly add pink in!!). I think these three colours all work so well together.

As well as the two challenge blogs already mentioned I'd also like to enter this card over at:

Allsorts - flower power

Pop by all the blogs mentioned to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created!

Its a tad bit cold out there!!!

Hello there! Happy Sunday....hope you've had a lovely weekend so far.

My part of the world continues to be covered in snow (it has snowed all day!!)...I have decided that this is the best method of transport....

Yes, those are my feet and yes thats Joe pulling me along!! Poor thing!! Personally I think it counts as exercise and will help him work off the yummy Welsh Cakes that he devoured when we got home....

My mum used to make these when we were little, me and my sister would be lined up next to the stove waiting to eat them hot and fresh from the griddle pan!!

Inspired by the weather outside I have created the following card today....

Just what everyone needs...a pretty mug of hot chocolate (or tea or coffee!!).

The fab layout comes from this week's sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday:

I've added a little sentiment box at the bottom...hope thats ok SSW ladies!!

My pretty mug image has been paper pieced, and I've gone with wintery blue colours....I love that blue cloudy backing paper, it goes perfectly with my punched snowflakes. I've added a little sparkle to the snowflakes using my Stickles.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Sweet Sketch Wednesday - Fab Sketch!
Love to Create - Sparkle & Snowflakes

Pop by all these fab challenge blogs to see the beautiful DT cards that have been created!

Thanks for popping by today,
hope to see you again soon.

Something Old, Something New!

Hello there campers! Hope you're well.

Well, its Saturday and that means another fab challenge from Sweet Stampin, and this week its the turn of my team....Team Abi...woo hoo! The theme this week is Something Old, Something New....you just need to use something old on your card and something new on your card...simple! Take a peek at the Sweet Stampin Challenge blog and all Team Abi DT blogs to see some wonderful cards!

As its still June, we're still joined by the fab Prairie Fairy as our monthly sponsor......

...and this week we're joined by the fab Bugaboo Stamps as our weekly sponsor....check out the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog to see the prizes that are up for grabs!

Here is my card....

We were lucky enough to be given some digi stamps from Bugaboo this week and I picked this gorgeous frame to feature on my card. I'd like to count the digi image as my something new.....but the "thinking of you" stamp is also new! I wanted to keep the card simple to show off the frame, so I opted for a blue colour theme with just two papers and some ribbon. The gorgeous blue and bronze swirly paper is my something old....I've had this paper for ages and I love it! I've used it very sparingly and this is my last piece! I've had it so long that I'm not sure where it came from!!

Right, thats all for today...this post is a little bit of a cheat really as I'm actually on Brownie Pack Holiday this weekend and have scheduled this post to appear! We're at a fab activity centre for the weekend, so keep your fingers crossed that the weather is ok!!

Thanks for popping by today and I look forward to visiting your blogs!

Lots of Layers!

Evening All...hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend. Thank you for all the lovely Birthday wishes everyone sent me over the weekend....I had a fab time and was thoroughly spoilt by my lovely friends and family.

I had an amazing total of three different Birthday cakes...so no baking from me this week! Here is one of the cakes....and I have to admit I think I'm slightly tipsy in this photo!

Life is a tad bit hectic at the moment, so my crafting is slightly limited at the moment...this is a real shame considering all the crafting goodies I was given this weekend! But here is a card that I've made for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge...can you guess the theme?

No, its not weddings....or the colour blue...it's "lots of layers"! This is a bespoke card that I was asked to make for a work colleague, it's her sister's wedding and she wanted something a little personal. I think the layers work nicely with this card, I didn't want to colour in the image so I just added a little sparkle with my stickles. Pop over to the Cupcake blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Age is just a number!

Hello there...a late night post from me today!

I've had a nice day, my work sorted out my laptop so I could access my emails from home...that meant I didn't have to struggle through the snow/ice to work today! Woo hoo! I very happily worked on my spreadsheets while wrapped in a duvet! A very productive day and I didn't moan about being cold once!

I've got a quick card for you this evening...to be honest I think I should have given it to my boyfriend last week because he seems so concerned about getting older (I'm rolling my eyes as I type this because I'm older than him!!).

Just in case you can't read the sentiment it says: "Happy Birthday! Remember that growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional". Something I think we should all live by!

This card is for three challenges:

Cute card Thursday - Colour challenge - The Blues
PaperPlay Challenges - Colour challenge - monochrome or shades of one colour
Charisma Cardz Challenge - sketch with a twist - use a sentiment and no image

All three blogs have some gorgeous DT cards on show - go take a peek!

This was a nice layout to use and I enjoyed the challenge of using a sentiment with no image. I also enjoyed the challenge of working with one colour - I had to rummage through my paper stash!

Right, I'm off to bed! Thanks for stopping by today.

What a fortnight!

*** Ok I've edited this post since I first posted it - adding a better photo! ***

Evening all, hope you're all well and you haven't caught any nasty bugs in this chilly weather in the UK! Well, as you may have noticed I haven't been around much in the last couple of weeks...to be honest it's been a crazy fornight!

I've had two major meetings at work to organise - one with 75 delegates! I've also celebrated my lovely boyfriend's birthday and attended a funeral....plus I've been ill (complete with a lovely coldsore up my nose!!). Its been hectic to say the least! Yes, it sounds like a title for a movie! Yesterday my poor body finally gave up on me and I ended up spending the whole day on the sofa feeling really rough! Today I'm starting to feel a little better and therefore normal service has resumed!

Now I started writing this post about 40 minutes ago...and I can tell you that it's been an interesting 40 minutes! The Brownie I was cooking not only exploded over the oven, but also managed to get burnt, while remaining uncooked....why am I still not used to Joe's oven?? The wonderful chocolate brownie aroma has been replaced by burnt chocolate!! I also think I've discovered another coldsore on my lip and I found that my camera battery is dead and so needed to find another way to upload my card!!

Anyway, enough of my moans! I have a card to share with you....this is for three challenges...

The layout for this card comes from Sweet Sketch Wednesday...another lovely layout to play with. You'll notice that my bow is paper rather than ribbon....I'm at Joe's today and only have limited craft supplies so needed to get creative with my bow!

The colour scheme is inspired by two challenges - Bah! Humbug! are feeling blue this week because its their last challenge before Christmas and Allsorts have asked for monochrome cards...although it didn't have to be black and white...it could be any colour and white. Believe it or not these are blue and white papers, I've added a little stamped snowman and surrounded him with glitter glue snow.

Pop over to all the blogs to see some wonderful cards.

Right, I'm off...I need to try and clear the burnt chocolate smell and clean the oven!

Thanks for stopping by today,

A Blue Birthday!

Evening All....yes, me again...two posts in one day! There's no stopping me!

I got home from work this evening and decided I wanted to do some more challenges....so here I am! My lovely boyfriend has been sick this weekend...I put it down to man flu and he is feeling much better today....but now my throat is starting to feel a bit sore! I really hope I haven't caught man flu...there's nothing worse apparently! Hopefully a nice early night will make me feel better!

So, here is this evenings card:

My camera hasn't done this card any justice really, on here its looking a bit bland, but its quite pretty in real life...honest! So, this card is for three different challenges:

Papertake Weekly - it's recipe time - 3,2,1
ABC Challenge Blog - B is for blue
Paper Cutz Challenge - Anything goes!

Paper Cutz is a new blog that I've discovered, so I thought I'd join in the fun! My recipe for Papertake is three buttons, 2 shiny sticky gems and 1 brad. Papertake wanted our project to be at least 80% blue...I have used a little green and yellow, but apart from that its blue all the way! All three blogs have some gorgeous DT examples for their challenges - take a peek!

Right, I'm heading off now...no more posts today I promise!

Thanks for stopping by today,

A flowerly card

Wow!!! It's early!! I haven't been up and dressed this early (intentionally) in ages! I'm off to a doctor's conference in London today lucky me! Anyway, thought I'd get a quick post in first!

I've found a new challenge blog that is only it's second week.....The Creative Cottage Challenge Blog!

I missed their first challenge, but remembered to look for their second one, which has a nice easy theme...flowers! The DT have come up with some fab designs, take a peek here at their lovely work.

This is my card for the challenge - I've used a cute stamped image which I love. I've coloured it with a mixture of pencils and pens. The sentiment has been created on the computer.

I used a blue backing paper, topped with some lovely blue and white checked paper (I think I was keeping it for a baby card, but hey ho!!). I have backed both the image and the sentiment with the blue backing paper too.

I used some fab spotty ribbon, which is attached around the blue and white paper. I then attached the image, sliding one side under the ribbon, followed by my sentiment. The sentiment is attached using 3D sticky pads, everything else lays flush on the card.

I am really pleased with how this cards looks! Anyway, better get going....my cab will be here soon!

Have a fab day whatever you're up to and thanks for stopping by today.

I'm faking!!!

Morning All!

Well....the Make It! show was just brilliant, I had a brilliant time and spent LOADS of money! I'm pleased to say that my friend Becca also enjoyed herself and even bought some bits and pieces! The show wasn't as big as it was a couple of years ago, but if it had been bigger I would probably have bought more!!

So, today I've decided to be a faker! Over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge they set us the challange of using stitches on our projects - either real ones or fake ones! Take a look at the lovely DT cards here. As you know I love experimenting and I've produced a lot of cards recently with (wonky) stitching on....so this time I decided to fake it and add drawn stitches.......what do you think......

This is a cute little card that would also work with an ice cream as the image - anything with a cute cherry on the top!

I've used a gorgeous light blue backing paper and made the little cupcake out of paper scraps. I attached the cupcake to the middle of the card before embellishing with a little glitter glue.

I made the sentiment on my computer and backed it with some more blue paper before adding it to the card as well.

Then I finally added the fake stitching, which I drew around the edge. The funny thing is that my fake stitches are just as wonky as my sewn stitches!! At least I'm consistent!

I've always liked making cupcake cards, I think they are so cute. At the moment they are also right on trend - cupcakes seems to be everywhere....not just in crafting. There are cupcake shops popping up everywhere, my sister had cupcakes as her wedding cake and you can now take classes especially dedicated to making these gorgeous little creations!! Woo hoo - I'm fashionable! Ha, ha! It doesn't happen very often!!

Anyway, I'd love to get this card on my Birthday - its cute, bright and makes me smile. It's my Dad's Birthday today....not sure he'd appreciate it, bit too girlie for him....so I've made him a card with a computer console on! Happy Birthday Dad - not sure you'll ever find my blog, but just in case you do!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope the sun is shining where ever you are in the world!

Not so much pink today.....

......I was asked yesterday to create a Birthday card for someone's brother - the only theme I was given was the colour blue and they wanted me to include his name, but he has no particular hobbies to include on the card. Wow! So much freedom to design what I fancied! However, as you'll all be aware from my blog my cards often turn out very cute and girlie!

After much deliberation I decided to start picking through my stash, finding all the different bits of blue paper I've got. I then sat and moved them around on a card until I came up with a layout I was happy with. This process was actually quite fun - seeing the different layouts appear before my eyes. Anyway, here is the final card, complete with sentiment written on my computer.

It took all my willpower not to add some glitter or buttons to the card! They would have looked perfect on the grey panel in the bottom left hand corner!

While I was in the mood I also decided to create some more cards that could be given to men.......

I have to say it was nice working with papers that weren't pink or purple for a change, I really enjoyed making the mini computer out of cream and grey paper.....but I did miss my glitter a little bit!

Ok, I have to admit it...there was one more card I created last night that doesn't quite fit in with the theme here....well you couldn't expect me to totally neglect my pink papers could you??

Hee, hee! Pink - check, purple - check, button - check, ribbon - check! One cute little girlie card!!

Hope you enjoyed my cards today, thank you for stopping by!

British thanks!

Wow - its a white wonderland out there again! Although there isn't as much snow as before the roads are rather chaotic this morning! Its funny how all this white stuff grinds the UK to a halt so effectively! In try British spirit I think most people are trying their best to get on with normal life this morning - hence all the traffic jams!!

A friend of mine has some American visitors with her at the moment, I wonder how they are enjoying their wintery visit to London! She has asked me to create a thank you card with a British theme that will be going back to the States with them. I had to have a think about this make as there is so much you could put on a British themed card - the obvious being the Union Jack maybe (or at least thats what I found when I searched the internet for inspiration).

In the end I decided to use the Union Jack colours as the base for the card, although as you'll see I didn't actually use the flag itself as I wanted something slightly more unique. Instead I used blue and red paper in the background and some white ribbon. I also added a piece of map showing a bit of cenral London.

I opted for a red bus as a topper, as you find these in lots of images of Britain. I've used red and black paper for the bus and printed my thank you message on the windows using my computer. Although looking at it now I'm not sure that anyone else will realise its a bus!! Hope my friend approves!

I also wanted to add the Queen onto the card some how.....after thinking about my artistic skills I decided that trying to create the Queen out of paper would be a big mistake and so used some old postage stamps instead.

I know there are loads of other items I could have used and I'm sure people would argue this isn't British enough or question why I didn't include certain images, but I didn't want to overcrowd the card and I'm happy with how it looks - just hope my find likes it too!

Anyway, I've got to go outside and brave all this white stuff in a minute - better wrap up warm! If you're out and about today take care!

Thanks for stopping by,
