The perfect combination

Hello there,

I hope you are well today!

I'm back with another challenge from Sweet Stampin but be warned - its a lovely dovey one! As February is fast approaching (where has January gone??) we thought you better get ready for that special day of the year....yes, our theme this week is Valentines.

As many of you know I love nothing better than a spot of tea and cake....to me this are the perfect combination....and so I decided to feature my favourite things on this week's card....

I've gone for a simple design, layering my kraft card and adding some stitching as a border. My image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I created the sentiment on my computer.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and hope that Joe likes it too!

All or Nothing....

Hello there,

Happy Saturday....I hope you've had a lovely week.....I didn't think mine was ever going to end!

This week we have a fab new challenge for you at Sweet Stampin....it's an "all or nothing" challenge so we either want to see your creations with no layers at all....or lots of layers!

The card I am sharing with you was created for Joe for Valentines.....

Not your average Valentines card I know!

Joe and I have a gorgeous pair of cats called Steve and Tinker, and some how I've managed to convince Joe that it's his job to deal with all the messy things in life....cat poo included! He thought this card was very funny when I presented it to him during our romatic Valentines meal and was impressed that I actually drew poo on a card!

I kept it nice and simple for this card and stamped my cat images and the paw prints directly onto the card blank. I coloured them with my Promarkers (trying and failing to make them look like Steve and Tinker) and then added the handwritten sentiment (and poo) onto the card in pen.

Now if I'm honest I wasn't sure how my lovely Sweet Stampin teamies would feel about having poo on the blog....so just in case I also made a lots of layers card.....

As well as the card blank, I have used a layer of black, a layer of patterned paper and a layer of white card before adding my stamped coffee mug. I have added a stamped sentiment and some faux white stitching to finish the card.

For more "all or nothing" inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards that have been created.

I Love.....Chocolate!

Hello there,

Happy Saturday...I hope you are keeping well and have had a good week.

Can you believe that its the end of January already?? It looks like 2015 might fly by as quickly as 2014 did! With Valentines Day just around the corner the ladies at Sweet Stampin have decided to get you in the mood with a "love" challenge theme this week!

Now I don't know about you...but I LOVE chocolate....in my humble opinion you can't beat a square or two to cheer you up! With this in mind I decided to feature chocolate on my love themed card....

I've gone for a CAS look, printing my digi stamp directly onto my card blank. The cute chocolate box  image is from Free Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps - when I saw it I knew it would be perfect for this challenge.

I have coloured my image with my Promarkers, and added a printed sentiment and some faux stitching around the edge.

For more inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week. While you're there you can find out about our fab sponsor this week....

Show us some Luuurrrvveee!

Hello there!

I hope you are keeping well and had a fab week!

Well, its the beginning of that month which is tinged in pink and red, and covered in hearts! Yep, its February already (does anyone know what happened to January??) and Valentines is just around the corner! With that in mind, we decided to get organised this week at Sweet Stampin and we'd love to see your cards that celebrate Valentines or Love.

Now I found this rather fab image for my Valentines card......

Hee, hee! Isn't it fab?

Not exactly your usual Valentines card, but I love it!

I decided to go with a bold colour combo to go with my bold image choice, along with that gorgeous flowery backing paper. I think it makes for a wonderfully quirky card! My image is coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a paper heart embellishment.

I'm back again with a new challenge from My Time to Craft...and this week we're getting ready for Valentine's Day. Love it or hate it....the heart filled day is just around the corner and we'd like to see your creations celebrating lurve!

I've used one of my favourite digi images for this card....

Isn't it a cutie? My image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a little sparkle with my Stickles. I love polka dots...I'm not sure why...but they always seem to make a card look even more cute.

Sweet Valentine Wishes

Hello there! Happy Monday!

I hope you've had a good day!

I'm back today with another sweet Valentine's Day card.....

I love this cute Kenny K image....although I think I've printed it out a little small for this card! Its an image that I've used for lots of anniversary cards before...it always makes everyone smile!

The layout for this card is from this week's challenge at Cupcake Craft challenge as they have a fab sketch for us this week.

With such a sweet image and fab layout I decided I needed pretty papers in soft colours, a little lace and some punched hearts. My image is coloured with my Promarkers and I've added some white faux stitching.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant - Love is in the air

Valentines with a little twist!

Well hello there!

A cheeky late Sunday evening post to finish off a fab weekend! This weekend I have entertained lots of friends...Jake and Kirsty came over for dinner on Friday evening, I cooked us up a Chinese feast! Then my sister and my best friend came to visit yesterday...we went to a local wine tasting which was so much fun, and then we had a good old fashioned girlie sleepover! Lots of food (yes more food!), drink and a chick movie!

I've also spent time in my craft room this afternoon and managed a quick visit to my favourite antiques shop....I am well and truely relaxed and content right now!

Soooo...its that lovey dovey week...Valentine's Day is just days away. I've created a Valentine's Day card with a slight difference...there is no red or pink on my card....

Hee, hee! I love a good sentiment on a card!

This cheeky chappie has been created out of various brown papers, with a googly eye and some details added in Promarkers and a white pen. My Squirrel's leg and arm is attached with 3D sticky pads to give him some dimension.

I have written my sentiment onto the card and added faux stitching around the edges.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts - Valentines
Crazy 4 Challenges - hearts with no red or pink
Challenges 4 Everybody - anything goes

Pop by both of these blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week!

A bit lovey dovey!

Hello there! Happy Thursday!

I hope you are keeping well! Well, I've had such a busy week so far....I am involved with a big new project at work which is very exciting, but also quite full on...I can't wait until the weekend!

So in order to destress a little this evening, I decided it was time to do some crafting!

There is a fab new sketch to play with at Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week....

Isn't it cute??

To go with such a cute sketch and all the fab Valentine inspired challenges that are around at the moment I decided to go with a Valentine's themed card......

Hmmm...now I'm not entirely sure about this card...I think its the colour combo...I think the outside border needed to be a darker purple colour. But I didn't have any large sheets of dark purple paper and so that is actually coloured with my Promarkers...and it didn't come out as dark as I thought it would! However, I think I get Brownie Points for being creative! Hee, hee!!

I've stamped my image and cute sentiment, and coloured the image with my Promarkers. I have cut the large heart out of paper and then punched the smaller hearts. I have added a little sparkle to them with my Stickles.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - love struck
Simon Says Stamp - have a heart
Tuesday Throwdown - Hearts Strings (feature hearts and string/twine)
Top Tip Tuesday - Let me call you sweetheart
The Pink Elephant - inspirational photo....I was inspired by the hearts and the sweet treats
Di's Digi Challenge - Valentines/Love

Pop by all these fab blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created for inspiration!

I also thought I'd share with you my most recent bakes (well it wouldn't be right if there weren't some cakes on my blog would it??) ....

...these were enjoyed by my colleagues at work!

In the garden....

....well, the snow came last night! It looks pretty out there, but I'm not a huge fan of the snow really....my car is rear-wheel drive and therefore goes mad in the snow and so I can't drive! Plus I worry about twisting my stupid knee and setting off a flare up (I really don't want to end up on crutches again!!). So, with all this white stuff outside whats a girl to do?? Get crafting!!

We're having a valentines themed crafternoon tea next weekend....and as usual I'm really looking forward to getting the girls together for some yummy food and fab crafts! I'm trying to pick the crafts we'll do this time, but I've already decided on my sweet treats!Plus I've been making some decorations for Lorna's flat! Sooooo exciting!

As well as all this planning, I've been making cards and have two I'd like to share with you....

My first card is a bespoke card that someone asked me to make for them.....its pink, shiny and A4 in size......and I had great fun making it! I was given the brief - shoes, bling, pink and silver and that fab sentiment! I'm not sure who its for, but I hope they like it!! I stamped the sentiment with my letter stamps and coloured with my Promarkers. Then I made the shoes out of silver and fab pink sparkly paper. They are 3D and really pop from the card....I added some sequins for extra bling!

I'm entering this card in Allsorts Free & Easy Challenge this week.

I'm really pleased with this second card....its another colour combo that I don't use very often, but I think it looks fab. Fab flowery backing papers, punched flowers, faux stitching and two little bunny rabbits = CUTE!!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Hugs and Kisses (I think they're kissing!!)
Sir Stampalot Challenge - in the garden - I wish my garden looked this lush at the moment!!

Right, I still have lots more crafting time before Joe comes home for work....so I'm off!!

Busy, busy, busy!

Wow! Its been a while since I've visited here...I'm not entirely sure what happened to last week, it just seemed to fly by me in a blur! I hope you're all keeping well!

I just wanted to stop by a share a new card with you that I've created for two challenges.....

This picture isn't the best I'm afraid, I'll try and get another one this week and upload that instead. Do you remember I made a Hap-pea Birthday card before? Well I told you the peas would be back! I think they make a really cute Valentines Day card for the not so mushy couple (I'm thinking of my boyfriend now!!). I love the eyes they make me smile and I think it makes a nice change to see a green Valentine's Day card!

This card is for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge where the theme this week is Valentines and the Allsorts challenge where the theme is "it must be love, love, love!" Both blogs have some gorgeous DT cards featuring this week, pop by if you get the chance!

Hopefully I'll be back soon with some more cards.

Bee Mine!

Morning All,

Can you believe that January is nearly over?! Wow - time is flying by as quickly as it did in 2010! It's nearly time for that day when we're engulfed by images of love and red hearts again! In celebration of Valentines which also happens to be the theme over at Charisma Cardz this week...here is a little card I put together last night...

I used a sketch from Cute Card Thursday as the layout for this card, its a nice clean and simple sketch - very easy to use. Anyone who popped by my blog yesterday might recognise the papers on this card...yes I liked them so much that I've used them again!

Right, work is calling and I have to get my skates on....thank goodness it's Friday! Thanks for popping by my blog today

Love is in the air!

Hello there! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Well, its been a very wet day in Surrey again today...at least its not snowing! I've got a little card that I'd like to share with you....you can tell its nearly that time of year when there are red hearts everywhere! When I got home from work today I found an exciting looking envelope waiting for me....it was the stamps that I won from a recent Cute Card Thursday challenge! So I decided to use them straight away! Thank you The Stamp Shoppe - I love them!

I've used the latest sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp for the layout and the pink colour scheme was inspired by the pretty in pink challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy. The theme this week at Secret Crafter Saturday challenge is "with love" and the theme over at Paper Play is "cutie patootie" - both of which I think fits in with this card perfectly!

I've also managed to fit a little baking in...yes again! I think I've found a new passion in the kitchen...I LOVE making and decorating biscuits! Here are the ones I've made today.....these are butter biscuits, covered in milk chocolate and then decorated with little chocolate stars and some pink edible glitter! I can also confirm that they are indeed yummy as well as pretty!
Right - I can't believe its after 10:30pm already....time is flying by at the moment! I'm off to bed in a bit so I'll say goodnight! Thanks for popping by today.

In the Name of Love

Evening everyone....have you noticed anything funny this week? There seems to be a lot more pink and red in the shops, the radios are playing a lot more love songs than usual and there seems to be hearts everywhere you look! Yes, its that time of year again....Valentine's Day is just a couple of days away!

So, what's your opinion on the day?? Is it just a commercial holiday driven by the shops to make us spend our hard earnt pennies?? Or is it a day dedicated to telling your loved one just how special they are? I hope that my boyfriend knows exactly how special he is to me - I tell him I love him often enough! He has been so brilliant over the last three months - it can't exactly be much fun having a girlfriend with a dodgy knee! I've been using my crutch since mid November, I get tired sooo easily and my moods have been rather irratic. But has he moaned? No, he's been brilliant - looking after me, driving me around everywhere and listening to my moans! He's evening cooking me a Valentine's dinner.

Why all this talk of love and Valentines?? Well, over at Cute Card Thursday this week the card challenge is love themed projects. The DT have created some gorgeous cards, take a peek here for some love inspiration! To be honest I wasn't going to make anymore Valentine's cards, but hey you know me - I can't resist a card challenge! So here is my last Valentine's card for this year:

I've used a gatefold card for this project, so it opens in the middle. I've kept the colours soft, using light grey and a soft pink for a romantic touch. I used a piece of grey backing paper on each side and then cut various sized rectangles from white paper to put on top of the grey. The grey hearts were created on my computer, along with the sentiment. The pink hearts are punched out of the pink paper.

Once assembled I added a little glitz to the card with my trusty glitter glue. A simple, romantic card perfect for telling someone how much they mean to you.

One of my other hobbies is to collect old postcards, there is something so charming about them. I love reading what has been written on the back - a tiny piece of someone's history captured forever on a small piece of card. Looking at my collection I have realised that I haven't got any Valentine postcards, so I've been on the internet looking at images and I came across these wonderful cards:

I wonder who sent these cards and I wonder what messages they contained! I've heard it said that e-cards will become more and more popular as we become more environmentally aware. It would be sad if people stopped sending tradtitonal paper cards altogether though - I don't know about you, but I don't tend to keep e-cards, they get deleted fairly quickly....and that's a little bit of history lost forever!
Happy Valentine's Day - I hope you have a lovely time whatever you're up to.

Puppy Love

Woo hoo - I slept all through the night! I didn't want to get up this morning.....a vast improvement on yesterday! My boss is also joining me in the office today which means that the automatic lights won't be going out every 20 minutes (apparently I don't move around enough!!). Surely thats a health and safety issue??

Anyway, I promised you something pink today and do not fear I am about to deliver...its pink and cute!

So this cute little fella has been put together for another two challenges....firstly the ladies over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge wanted to see projects with hearts on. Click here to see the DT cards, they've all used such lovely images. The card also fits in with the Cupcake Craft Challenge as they wanted projects which included ou four-legged furry friends! The DT have come up with some fab examples, they can be seen here.

So, for this one I have used a pink backing paper on a white square card. I have then used a very light pinky-white paper covered in hearts as the second layer (not sure where this one is from!). The cute little doggy comes from a topper that I bought from EBay - he actually sits in a square box, but I decided to cut him out and mount him on two hearts for this card. The hearts sit flush on the card, but I've used 3D foam pads to attach the dog. Finally the sentiment - Puppy Love backed with more pink paper!

Right, happy crafting folks, hope you have a good Tuesday....I'm off to dance with the lights in my office now!

Thanks for stopping by,

Be still my racing heart......

.....I've well and truly got caught up with this Valentine lark and we're still in January!!  I don't know about you, but I can't believe it's the 20th of this month already!! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun!

Anyway, I wanted to show you this cute little card that I made before my Brownie meeting tonight (every minute counts!!)

It looks slightly better in real life - the scanner has decided to highlight my bad colouring and the sticky tabs I used to secure the vellum - neither of these show up when you've got the card in your hand!! Very weird!

I've used a square white card  as the base and secured a square of deep red backing paper on top of that. I then cut a piece of dotty vellum that sits across the whole card at the bottom. After that I got creative and drew my cute little heart runner on white paper and attached that to a square of black paper before adding it to the rest of the card. I've then embellished with two shiny red hearts, onto which I've added tiny red buttons (couldn't resist the buttons!). My sentiment reads "You make my heart race!", I created this on my computer.

I am pleased with how this card turned out.....the theme of red hearts came from the latest Caardvarks challenge. Take a look at their fab DT designs here I just love how different all the cards look!

The fab layout has come from the new Truly Scrumptious challenge, if you take a peek here you'll see the sketch that Nicole has created. To be honest I was a little daunted when I first saw it, but after looking at the gorgeous cards created by the DT I was encouraged to give it a go myself!

Before I go I want to share something that I heard on breakfast telly this morning which made me smile. Prince William is currently visiting Australia and as part of his visit he has met some children who asked him questions. There were different questions about his nan living in a castle and how much money he has. However my favourite one was whether he has a sword - beacuse he's a prince! It just reminded me how innocent children are and made me think that maybe children should be allowed to interview famous people - we'd probably find the answers to all the buring questions that no adult would ask!

Anyway, I want an early night tonight so I'll bid you farewell.

Love note

Evening All......I survived the weekend with the Brownies! Woo hoo! It was an interesting experience as you can imagine, the girls all enjoyed themselves, but I still can't get over how many Brownies were there! If you live in the Merdian TV area in the UK you may have even seen me on the local news yesterday evening...they showed a shot of me hobbling into the centenary show! I'm the grumpy looking one in a red coat with a crutch!! Ha, ha! If you really want to see my suffering just Google the Merdian local news!

Anyway, to celebrate my survial I thought I better catch up on some challenges....I've popped over to the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and they are looking for projects with a musical theme. It can be anything - instruments, musical notes, singing...anything musical. A very interesting challenge this one, check out the lovely DT cards here: http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/2010/01/challenge-66.html.
I then decided to catch up with this week's Cupcake Craft Challenge...over on their blog Kathrin has produced a fab sketch to follow. Our projects need to follow the sketch, although we can rotate or flip the design (bit too clever for me!!). The DT designs can be seen here: http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/2010/01/challenge-74sketch.html

I suppose its about time I showed you my card that fits both challenges....to be honest I'm not too impressed with myself this time, but it took me ages to make so I'm going to share it with you anyway......

With Valentine's Day fast approaching I decided to create a lovey-dovey card of the non-traditional kind! I have created a musical theme by using the musical notes in the background. I have also included lyrics from romantic love songs - although you can't see them very well in the light grey box! I found the lyrics on the internet and have included the singer's name too. Peer hard...there might be one of your favourites on there! This was the time consuming bit - picking the right songs!!

I have followed the sketch exactly as it appears on the Cupcake Craft Challenge blog, using a red, black and grey colour combo. There is a heart covered backing paper right at the back (bearly visible) and then I have layered the other shapes on top. There are the musical notes at the back, the lyrics on top of that, followed by a red circle covered in mini black hearts! There are two pieces of oblong red card to the right of the card, with a mini crystal heart placed at the top of each of them. The final piece is the big red heart and sentiment that sits on top. I mostly used my computer for this card - in fact the red oblongs and the backing paper are the only things from my craft stash!

I'm not convinced that I like my design....I'm not sure what is it about it....maybe the colour combo isn't quite right?? What do you think?

Anyway, I better get making my lovely Boyfriend his Valentine's card......he starts his new job in MOTest in Farnham tomorrow.....so just in case he stops by here I'll wish him luck! Go get them baby!

Thanks for stopping by, there will be more cards and ramblings very soon!

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 79 Buzz Off!

So, I've just spent a challenging couple of hours at my first ever dress making / sewing class...the tutor is lovely, the ladies are all very friendly and encouraging....I just found the actual sewing rather difficult. In fact it took me the best part of the two hours to sew a zip into a piece of fabric...plus the finished result has rather a lot of wonky stitches on it!! Oh well, what better way to relax then to find myself a card challenge to take part in........

The Cute Card Thursday Challenge this week is entitled "Buzz Off!"....    http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/2009/09/challenge-79-buzz-off.html ......but the lovely ladies are not being rude...no they simply want projects that use a black / yellow combo....which reminded me of one of my favourite Valentine Cards from this year..... Bee Mine!
A really simple card design, made cute with the wobbly eyes on the bee...it proved very popular with my friends and work colleagues! I hope you all enjoy!
