Well I never!

If you read my post yesterday you'll know that its been a hectic couple of weeks for me, full of mini incidents. It was Monday today and I thought maybe a new week would bring better things...but no! I had a blow out in the middle lane of the A3 this morning at 7:30am! I managed to get over to the hard shoulder...but it was a really skinny hard shoulder and I was really worried that a big lorry was going to hit my teeny car! What a scary experience! I then had to wait in the cold until National Rescue came and rescued me at 8:50am!! I was sooooo cold!!

I really hope that tomorrow brings better things!

Any how...here is my card for today....

This cupcake Birthday card fits in with three challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - Light it up - feature a candle somewhere on your project
Cute Card Thursday - Blast from the past - pick any old challenge...I went for challenge 110 - make your own
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - recipe - 3 snowflakes, 2 circles and lace

I liked using a red and black colour combo for a change...its a bit different from all the pink and purple that I love so much! I always enjoy making my own embellishments.

What a fortnight!

*** Ok I've edited this post since I first posted it - adding a better photo! ***

Evening all, hope you're all well and you haven't caught any nasty bugs in this chilly weather in the UK! Well, as you may have noticed I haven't been around much in the last couple of weeks...to be honest it's been a crazy fornight!

I've had two major meetings at work to organise - one with 75 delegates! I've also celebrated my lovely boyfriend's birthday and attended a funeral....plus I've been ill (complete with a lovely coldsore up my nose!!). Its been hectic to say the least! Yes, it sounds like a title for a movie! Yesterday my poor body finally gave up on me and I ended up spending the whole day on the sofa feeling really rough! Today I'm starting to feel a little better and therefore normal service has resumed!

Now I started writing this post about 40 minutes ago...and I can tell you that it's been an interesting 40 minutes! The Brownie I was cooking not only exploded over the oven, but also managed to get burnt, while remaining uncooked....why am I still not used to Joe's oven?? The wonderful chocolate brownie aroma has been replaced by burnt chocolate!! I also think I've discovered another coldsore on my lip and I found that my camera battery is dead and so needed to find another way to upload my card!!

Anyway, enough of my moans! I have a card to share with you....this is for three challenges...

The layout for this card comes from Sweet Sketch Wednesday...another lovely layout to play with. You'll notice that my bow is paper rather than ribbon....I'm at Joe's today and only have limited craft supplies so needed to get creative with my bow!

The colour scheme is inspired by two challenges - Bah! Humbug! are feeling blue this week because its their last challenge before Christmas and Allsorts have asked for monochrome cards...although it didn't have to be black and white...it could be any colour and white. Believe it or not these are blue and white papers, I've added a little stamped snowman and surrounded him with glitter glue snow.

Pop over to all the blogs to see some wonderful cards.

Right, I'm off...I need to try and clear the burnt chocolate smell and clean the oven!

Handmade Gift

Hello everyone, long time no see! It was such a busy week for me last week, and this week isn't much better! Thought I'd pop along for a quick post though....

The challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge is a fab one....they want to see our handmade Christmas gifts. I love making things....give me some fabric or some beads and I'll while away a couple of hours no problem! I organised a big meeting for work in a London hotel on Friday, and I took my beading with me! I made some lovely stars to hang on the Christmas tree, my boss couldn't believe I was sat there beading in my hotel room!

The ladies at Secret Crafter have made some gorgeous gifts, check out their blog! I've decided to share with you some of my felt keyrings which are for my sister....

You may remember I've made cute felt items before....there was Dave the Alien who I posted about earlier this year! He was a fridge magnet...well now I've expanded into keyrings too! These cuties are made from felt and are hand-stitched.

Right, I'm off...it's Joe's Birthday today...I think we're off to the garage in a bit! I'll be back tomorrow with some new cards.

House Warming Card

Ohhhhh...it's sooo cold out there! I'm really not a fan of this cold weather! The only good thing is snuggling up under a blanket!

I've got a house warming card to share with you this evening, I haven't made one of these in ages! The theme comes from this week's Cupcake Craft Challenge:

The layout for the card comes from a sketch over at Allsorts, I really enjoyed using this layout as its very pretty. Take a peek at both blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards.

I've used pink, purple and brown for this card, have no idea why...but luckily I think the colours work well together! I've used the same colour glitter glue on my flowers, for the dots at the top and bottom and for the door handle. Its a lovely platinum colour that works well with so many different colours. I think the only thing I would do differently with this card would be to use a brown pen for the stitches rather than the black.

Happy Sunday!

Hello everyone...wow its cold out there!
I decided to spend some quality time with Joe this weekend, so I went to his garage for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon and Joe let me loose on his Skyline....now this car is his pride and joy so I was a little nervous to say the least! He let me do some bodywork on the rear wheel arches, and I have to say i really enjoyed it!
I've got a couple of cards to share with you....first off a sparkle and shine card for this week's challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge:

Yes, its that stamp again! My sister requested a masculine thank you card, so I opted for a black and white colour combo with my favourite stamp! I've used lots of glitter for the tree...black, silver and white...I'm not sure that this picture does it justice!

The second card I have for you is a Christmas card for the Bah Humbug challenge - Rudolph the Reindeer...
I love this cute little fellow....he has appeared on lots of my Christmas cards this year! I've used a simple green backing paper with some sparkly snowflakes for the background. I then created my Rudolph from brown paper and some fab stripy paper for his antlers. I've added a cheeky smile and most importantly a big red nose! Guaranteed to make you smile!

Right, I'm off...I want my bed....it's a busy week for me this week and I think I'll need every wink of sleep I can get!

Confidence card

Morning All,

I had a fab night with my friend Becca last night, we went for dinner and to the cinema to see Due Date...what a funny film! I'm still chuckling to myself this morning! I got home after my night out to find some brilliant post...do you remember I won a prize for a Cupcake Craft Challenge?? I got to choose $20 of goodies from Simon Says Stamp! Well, my goodies arrived yesterday!

I opted for two fab stamps and some gorgeous sticky gems! I just want to say thanks to everyone, I really enjoyed my shopping spree...and as you'll see I've already put my prize to good use!

The challenge over at Cute Card Thursday this week is an "anything goes" challenge....I love these challenges! Take a peek at all the gorgeous DT cards for some inspiration. So, I decided to use one of my new stamps...

When I saw the confidence stamp I just new I wanted it...."Confidence for when in doubt"....it's such a fab sentiment. I think it will look great on the front of cards, but for this project I wanted to create something a little bit special.

I've used red and black papers from my stash for my background and to create a little pocket on the front of my card. I've added a little "for you" tag and a punched flower to the pocket front...and yes I've gone a little crazy with my glitter glue!

I then stamped the image onto a separate piece of white card, backed it with some red card and added some glitter glue and red sticky gems. The confidence card sits in the little pocket on the front of the main card....I hope this makes sense!!

You've then got a lovely card and an extra little present to give to a friend or family member. They can keep it safe for moments of doubt...and lets face it we all have those moments sometimes! I think I'll make more of these and make the confidence card into a magnet or a bookmark.

I'm looking forward to using my other new stamp...I think that will call for more sticky gems or maybe some glitter glue...a girl can never have too much sparkle!!

Somone special at Christmas

Morning All,

A really quick post this morning, as I need to get my skates on...but I wanted to share a card with you quickly and I know I won't get a chance after work. The Creative Cottage have given us a lovely theme this week "someone special at Christmas"...so I decided to make a card for my mum.

I don't usually give Christmas cards to my parents, probably because I see them so much, but I know how much my love loves this stamp and so I thought a card using this image would be lovely.

I've used blue backing paper, a lovely snowdrop paper and some more of that gorgeous blue ribbon for the background. I then stamped the mini version of the tree twice. I backed these with some lovely white shimmer paper before attaching them to the card with 3D sticky pads.

I then went mad with my blue and white glitter glues! Although you can't see that from this photo!

Finally I decided to handwrite my sentiment on white card and back this with some blue paper.

I now need to hope that mum doesn't suddenly become web savvy and find this post!!

Shaker card for Christmas

Hope you're all well and having a good week! Its another Wednesday...can you believe it?? I some how managed to end up at work at 7:30am this morning...ridiculously early even for me! I've also had Brownies and Guides this evening, and somehow I managed to get a card made too! Arlana has created another fab sketch this week for us over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday, pop over to the blog to see all the wonderful DT cards!

Here is mine....I've used a lot of silver card on this project and therefore it was quite difficult to photograph....so I've taken pictures from different angles!

I've opted for a shaker card this week, as I haven't made one in ages.

I've used blue and silver papers and cards for the background. Along with some lovely blue ribbon.

I filled my shaker Christmas present with metallic stars, seed beads and mini circles (from my hole punch!). I created the bow from more blue card and added a mini tag for my sentiment.

Right, I'm off for a bit of blog hopping before an early night! Thanks for stopping by my blog today and I hope to see you again soon.

Twas the night before Christmas....

.....I have a confession to make...I'm 31 years old and I still have a stocking! In fact I have two! One from my mum and one from my boyfriend! I remember the excitment of going to bed on Christmas eve as a child, trying to fall asleep so that Father Christmas would visit! Even better was waking up in the morning to find a stocking full of presents!

This week's challenge over at Allsorts is "Twas the night before Christmas", where they want to see projects inspired by the poem. I've taken the following line to inspire my card: The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

I've created a little chimney scene from paper!

I used green and brown backing paper to create my base, I then used stiff brown create the chimney breast and there is a little black mantle piece too! I've decorated my chimney with a mini rudolph banner and the all important stockings! I then decided I needed something on my mantle piece and made two mini Christmas cards, complete with sentiment! This was a time consuming project (and fiddly!), but I'm really pleased with the final card

This card is also for this week's challenge over at Bah! Humbug! Their theme is fancy folds and I've used some folds (not that fancy)  to create my 3D chimney breast. Here is a side shot of the Chimney:

Tea'rific Birthday Wishes!

Evening All!

Hope you're all well today...hasn't it got very wintery here in the UK all of a sudden! My poor little car really wasn't built for the colder weather, I drive a MX5 (yes it's a softtop and not very practical!) and I feel like I'm getting blown all over the place at the moment!

The food festival yesterday was lots of fun...Becca, Sheree and I manged to sample quite a few things...including a chocolate macaroon, some British chorizo and lots of different cooking sauces..yummy! I also treated myself to a biscuit icing kit, which is very cool and included shimmer dust...yes from now on all my cupcakes and biscuits will shimmer!

So, its Monday...so that means a lovely new challenge from Cupcake Craft Challenges....and this week we have been given a sketch to play with. Now, if I'm honest my card looks slightly different to their sketch and I hope the lovely ladies will accept my card! I've kept all the main elements...its just my central image isn't in a box. To see the actual layout pop over to their blog. Here is my version....

Basically I made the teapot before I started on the background....and surprise, surprise my teapot was too big to fit in a box! However,  I thought my teapot was quite cute and I didn't want to make it all over again! I hope that's ok with the Cupcake Ladies! I've used a variety of black and white papers for the background, along with some lovely ruby red lace. The teapot is made out of red and white papers and is attached using 3D sticky pads. I then added a bit of glitter!

I'm feeling chilly so I think I'm going to finish up here and tuck myself into bed with my new book!

Lots of Christmas cards and some exploding cakes!

Morning All,

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. I'm in a lovely mood this morning...not sure if its the crafting, the baking or the fact that I'm seeing two of my lovely friends in a bit....we're heading off to a local food festival! Yummy! for

I love this time of year...I get to make so many cards! Friends, family and work colleagues all start requesting cards, here are some I've been working on this weekend...

....I've been using my favourite tree stamp, adding red, green and gold glitter to make it festive, I've made lots of cheeky Rudolphs and some festive penguins! I've had to stop because I seem to have run out of black card for my penguins!

One of these cards is perfect for the challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge where they have a colour combo theme this week - red and gold. One of my penguin cards is for a girl who loves the colour red....

I've used gold card and red paper for the background of this card. I've made my little penguin from papers in my stash...I accessorised him with a red and gold bow tie! The Christmas message was created on my computer and backed with more gold card. I then added a little bit of holly.

I mentioned baking at the beginning of my post....yesterday I decided to make some marble cakes....not really sure what happened in the oven, but they seemed to explode out of their cases....

....ha, ha...not exactly my usual pretty cupcakes, but they taste wonderful! Perfect on a chilly autumn afternoon with a mug of coffee!

Right, I better get going...I have a food festival to get to!

Gently does it

Morning All,

I thought I'd get a quick post online before work this morning.....and Cute Card Thursday has the perfect challenge for me. Their theme is "gently does it" and they want to see us using vellum, parchment or tissue paper on our cards. The DT have created some lovely cards for inspiration, pop by and take a peek.

Here is my card:

I love making my embellishments so this challenge was perfect for me, I created a little bee to bring Birthday wishes. I used yellow card, along with a black pen. I added some googly eyes (just because they're my guilty pleasure) and I made some wings from a piece of pretty vellum. If I'm honest I don't really use vellum really often because I don't know what to do with, but I find it always makes good wings! I made my sentiment on the computer and used flowery backing paper for the background.

I'd also like to say a quick Happy Birthday to my friend from work Becca...I'm not sure whether she pops by my blog, but it'll be a nice surprise if she does! The lucky thing is at home today.....talking of work I better get my skates on!

A couple of festive cards for you.....

....this evening I will be spending my time making Christmas cards...I already know I need to make rather a lot of little Rudolphs so I need to get my skates on! Before I start though I wanted to share a couple of cards with you.

First off I have my card for this month's Sir Stampalot challenge and for this month's Penny Black at Allsorts Challenge...both have a similar theme....

Can you guess the theme?

Penny Black at Allsorts - its beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Sir Stampalot - Christmas traditions

I thought this fab Penny Black stamp would be brilliant for both challenges....it always makes me laugh....can you just imagine santa bringing all his presents riding on a cow!? I've used bright red and green backing papers, and a super cute Papermania backing paper featuring lots of Christmas pressies.

My second card is for the Allsorts challenge this week, where their theme is gold and cream with a hint of red:

Now, although I didn't use a Christmas sentiment on this card, I think it would be perfect for Christmas or a Birthday or a "just because" card. I love this Kanban stamp and have used it a lot already - it seems to appeal to everyone. I've used a combination of cream and gold backing papers, along with some cream ribbon. I stamped the tree in black ink and then added some gold and red glitter glue. Finally the sentiment is gold.

Right...I actually started writing this post about an hour and a half ago...this proves just how easy it is to distract me! Since I started the post I've eaten dinner, called my boyfriend and made some yummy raspberry cupcakes that are currently in the oven!

I'm off to make my Rudolphs now before I get distracted again....although those cakes will need icing at some point! Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon.

Thanks delivered by an owl!

Afternoon All, hope you're all well and having a fab week so far.

I visted the Savoy hotel this weekend with my sister, we weren't lucky enough to be staying in this wonderful hotel - we just wanted to be nosy! The Savoy shut it's doors three years ago for a massive refit, we've been there before for afternoon tea and what a wonderful experience that was! We've been waiting for them to reopen ever since just so we can have tea again! The Savoy reopened in October, complete with a brand new tea shop and we decided we wanted to take a peek! I'm so pleased that we did, the hotel is wonderful and the assistant in the tea shop was so lovely...she even gave us a free sample of their handmade chocolates! Yummy! We've booked tea in again, I just wish I could stretch to an overnight stay!

Isn't this time of year beautiful in England? The trees are turning, everything is so vibrant. It may be colder, but I am enjoying the scenery! I've got a little card for you....I know I haven't posted in a week so I thought I'd enter a couple of challenges before heading off to my Brownie meeting:

This little cutie was hiding in a craft magazine freebie - how sweet is he?? The layout is of course provided by the lovely Arlana over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday....another fab one to use. The little owl fits in with the "anything that flies" theme over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge...I had thought about butterflies, but then I saw this little chap! Finally the colour scheme and sentiment are for the challenge this week over at Cupcake Craft Challenge where they want "thank you autumnal colours".

Please visit all the blogs to see the wonderful DT creations, I always make sure I take a look before setting to work on my cards because they're always so inspirational.

Right, I better get going...its chocolate evening at Brownies this week!
