Babies!

Hello there,

Well, I don't know what is happening in my office at the moment...but all the ladies who sit at desks in my area are either getting engaged, getting a new job or having babies! Honestly....if we are not talking about wedding dresses we seem to be comparing baby bumps! I'll be clear that none of these things apply to me...although everyone keeps suggesting that I need to fit into one of the groups!!

This week's Sweet Stampin challenge fits in nicely with this theme however as this week we want to see your projects featuring babies!

Here is my card....featuring some rather cute little images.....

I bought these images as a set about five months ago when Joe's little niece Isabelle was born and I wanted to make a card for her. I think they are so sweet! I've coloured my images with my Promarkers and have gone with a really girly pink colour scheme!

I can't quite believe that five months have flown by so quickly already!

For more "baby" inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at Team Abi's cute cards! While you are there you can also read all about our fab sponsor this week....

If there are any UK based afternoon tea fans out there you might want to pop over to my little afternoon tea blog too....as this month we are celebrating a year of afternoon tea posts at Tea With Me and Friends! In the last year we've featured over 60 afternoon teas and have met so many wonderful people, we are delighted to be able to celebrate with an afternoon tea competition! Take a peek at the blog for more information!

Something New

Hello there!

Happy Saturday! I hope you have had a fab week!

I'm really excited this weekend....as you are reading this (if its still Saturday!) I am at One Aldwych with Lorna, at their afternoon tea Masterclass! We get to meet Chef Dominic and learn the secrets of a professional afternoon tea! Read all about it next week on our afternoon tea blog!

I'm back today with a new challenge from My Time to Craft and this week we'd like to see you feature something new on your card.....now this can be a baby, a home or maybe a job. We don't want to see new stash though...it has to be a celebration!

I recently was asked to make some thank you cards after someone had their baby and wanted to thank their friends and family for the gifts and cards they sent. I found this super cute baby digi image and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge too....

What a cutie pie!

I've coloured my image with my Promarkers. I then decided to go with a card that wasn't gender specific....so I went with yellow and this cute star backing paper. Finally I added my sentiment.

Lets get folding!

Hello there,

Happy Saturday....I hope you've had a lovely week.

Mine started really well...we had the brilliant news that Joe has become an uncle for the first time. His sister had a beautiful little girl on Monday afternoon, she was two weeks overdue and so we are all pleased that little Isabelle finally decided to make an appearance!

We have a fab challenge for you at My Time to Craft this week, we want to see your easel cards. Inspired by my wonderful news, I got crafting....

I've gone with a very pink colour scheme for this card....well she is a baby girl after all!

My cute images have been coloured with my Promarkers and I have gone with polka dots and stripes for the backing papers.

Tiny Cute Animals

Hello there - lovely to see you!

Last night while Joe left me alone with the remote control I stumbled across a TV programme called Tiny Cute Animals....and yes it was a full hour of the smallest animals I've ever seen! There was even a dwarf Shetland pony and the shortess cat in the world - really weird!

Maybe I was still thinking about this programme while I was making this card.....

I don't often to baby cards...and I'm not sure if I've ever seen a bunny rabbit on a new baby card, but it seemed right while I was making it!! I've used a mixture of pastel backing papers and I've coloured my little bunny with my Promarkers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - a fab sketch
Passion for Promarkers - new beginnings

Lots of circles!

Hello there, hope you're having a fab Monday!

I'm going for dinner to celebrate my friend's Birthday in a bit, but I just wanted to share a new card with you first.

The challenge this week at Cupcake Craft Challenges is "something new", it can be anything new...a baby, a home, a job...new stash! I decided to make a new baby card as I haven't made one in ages. I haven't used this stamp before, but I think its quite cute!

There is another challenge included on this card too, can you guess what it is? Paper Sundaes have a circle theme for their challenge this week...so I decided to use this fab dotty paper, along with some cute buttons to embellish my card.

Both blogs feature some gorgeous DT cards, pop by and take a peek!

Faye - I hope you've popped by...I wanted to tell you that the stamp you liked from yesterday's card is a rubber stamp from Hero Arts - I got it from Simon Says Stamp!

Right, I better go and get ready.....I'm looking forward to some yummy dinner at Prezzo this evening. I completlty forgot to add this yesterday.....

Happy Birthday Sheree!

Round and Round

Morning everyone! I did not want to get out of my cosy bed this morning! I was so snug and warm and comfortable!! Maybe I need to get a job as a bed tester??

Today's card is a pink delight....

This week's challenge over at the Cupcake Craft Challenge is round and round....the lovely ladies want to see projects with circles on. The DT have come up with some fab designs, Donna has designed a really unique circular card and I love the colour scheme on Denise's design......take a peek here.

I needed a new baby girl card, so thats what I made! I've used stamps from a set that I bought on the weekend.

I started with some pink and blue dotty paper (really tiny circles!) and on top of that I've layered a semi circle of pink. I then attached some pink ribbon across the card and added a cute button and two little shiny stickers.

Finally I added my two stamped images. I'm still not fab at stamping, but practice makes perfect!! I stamped the images onto plain white card, cut them into circles and then backed with some hot pink paper which again was cut into circles (albeit a little wonky!).

I'm kinda chuffed at how many circles I manged to get onto one little card!!

Anyway, gotta fly this morning.....hope you all have a fab day!
Thanks for popping by.

New beginnings....

...evening everyone - Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful new year, mine was spent on the sofa at a friend's house while our other halves played Scaletrix all night - yes you read that correctly....ALL NIGHT!! I had a little go, it was fun, but really...how long can watching little cars go around the same track be exciting for?? I suppose thats why I am a girl!!

So, another year has begun....as you'll know I've already set my resolutions and I'm pleased to say that I have already acted on one of them too. Over the holidays I did some surfing on the internet (as you do) and came across this fab website: http://www.cutehandmade.com/ that features everything cute and handmade! It truely is a celebration of cute handmade items - take a look and see for yourself! Inspired by my resolution of believing in myself more I contacted Brooke the blog host and applied to be featured. I checked my emails today and to my delight found an email from Brooke saying that I will be appearing on the blog! This is soooo cool, and I am a tad bit pleased with my efforts! I think I am appearing on 12th Jan - so watch this space! This is a great start to the new year!

Talking of new beginnings that is the theme of a card that I've created that fits into no less than three card challenges this week (yes, I am very pleased with myself again!). To be specific we're talking new babies......

....the basis of this sweet new baby card is the Sketchtastic challenge over on Cute Card Thursday. If you visit their blog they have provided the basic sketch to base your card on: http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/2009/12/challenge-93-sketchtastic.html. I'm only just getting into this concept of card making and I am really enjoying it. For inspiration the DT have produced an array of fab designs. The theme for the card came first from the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - the ladies there wanted to see projects featuring New Beginnings...it could be anything from new home, to weddings to new babies....again the DT produced some amazing designs: http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/2010/01/challenge-64.html. While thinking about which new beginning to design I took a look at the Cupcake Craft Challenges blog and found my final inspiration....as they are looking for new baby cards! It was obviously meant to be!http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/2010/01/challenge-72baby-card.html

The card is made using lots of pink scrap paper, layered as the sketch shows. I've used a foam purple "Baby" sentiment, which compliments the pink and lilac rocking horse topper. Both the sentiment and the image are raised slightly, giving the card some depth. I've also used pretty ribbon to add a delicate touch to the card. I was quite pleased with how this has turned out.....

Before I go I just want to share one other mini project with you - this one features my favourite embelishment os the moment.....you've guessed it....buttons!!  I've created this cute hanging ornament using a mixture of buttons from my trusty button box, some leftover ribbon and jewellery wire.

First off I selected the buttons I liked best and created the heart shape on my craft desk. I then cut a very long piece of wire and started to thread the buttons on one at a time. I shaped the heart as I went along, and then finally attached the ribbon at the back using the wire. This was actually a fairly difficult project, probably because I did use a ridiculously long piece of wire which kept pinging about the place! I thought I was going to poke my eye out at one point! Its not perfect yet, but I'm sure there is a saying about practice (and patience) making perfect! It was so cute I wanted to share with you!

Anyway, another long blog - sorry! Just so much to share this time.....I haven't been able to access the internet since New Year's Eve!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my makes - maybe even given them a go yourself!

Enjoy,
Wedgie xxx
