Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hello there Happy Sunday!

Look at this - I'm back with another post and its not Saturday again yet! I have started as I mean to go on with my week's annual leave and have already been crafting!

Its been a busy couple of days already....I went to a family BBQ yesterday with Joe and today I had a very lovely afternoon tea with my mum and sister (more about that later!). The BBQ was to celebrate some Birthdays....and so naturally I needed some Birthday cards! Here is my favourite one.....

I've used a kraft background for this shabby chic card, and some very pretty wrapping paper! I've also added a stamped cupcake which was coloured with my Promarkers, a very pretty doily and a personalised sentiment.

I'm really pleased with how this card turned out, very pretty and girlie!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge - Kraft it!
Crazy 4 Challenges - join us on a picnic - I think cupcakes make perfect picnic food!
Simon Says Stamp - summer food and or drink - see above!

If you get the chance pop by these fab challenge blogs - there are some gorgeous DT cards to see!

So, earlier I mentioned our afternoon tea trip today.....we were at a lovely place called Warren House, where we sampled a rather scrummy afternoon tea on the terrace in the beautiful grounds. Now...we really showed our true British spirit today as although the photo shows a beautiful day we were plagued with rain...but did we go inside?? No...we stayed under our huge umbrella eating the yummy cakes and strawberries!!

To see more of this lovely tea pop over to our afternoon tea blog! If you pop by please leave us a comment so we know that you visited!

It's lovely to see you today, thank you for popping by!

With Sympathy

Hello there, Happy Saturday!

I am happier this Saturday than most because I am finally on annual leave! Its been a rather long week....and I've worked many more hours than I should....but finally I have a week off! I'm not going anywhere...I just have some day trips planned and lots of me time! Ohhh.....and of course there will be afternoon tea! I have three different teas planned this week....one with mum, a Charlie and the Chocolate factory themed tea and another burlesque tea. Read about them over at my afternoon tea blog! As a result of all this tea I will also be running a lot this week!!

Anyway, we have a new challenge for you over at My Time to Craft and this week its an interesting one - we'd like you to create a card or project with "Sympathy" as a theme. Now I say this is an interesting theme as I love to see how everyone interprets it. Providing sympathy comes in many forms and for many different reasons, and from personal experience I know that everyone deals with situations where sympathy is given in very different ways. We saw an awful lot of sympathy cards when Dad passed away from our amazing friends and family and I was struck by how similar they all were. With this in mind I have tried to create something a little bit different....

Instead of white, which seems to dominant a lot of sympathy cards, I have chosen soft pastel colours on a Kraft background. I have also added a little bit of sparkle to my card. Now 'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the traditional sympathy cards that you see, I just wanted something a little bit different.

For more inspiration please pop to the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see what the lovely DT ladies have created this week - and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Stamping Sensations - summer colours

I'm also hoping that having this week off will mean more time for crafting and doing some blog hopping ....things that I have really missed recently!

One last thing that I wanted to share with you today.....last weekend I visited beautiful Bath with my best friend Becca and we had a wonderful time! We spent time in the roof top pool of the Thermale Spa, we explored the Roman Baths and gazed at the gorgeous dresses in the Fashion Museum. And of course we also made time for a spot of afternoon tea while we were there! We visited Bea's Vintage Tea Rooms....a beautiful place inspired by the 1930s/1940s. Here is the tea that we ate.....

Look at those huge slabs of cake!! One was Victoria sponge filled with fresh cream and summer berries and the other is lemon meringue filled with yummy lemon curd! Find out more about the tea rooms on my new afternoon tea blog!

Snowmen...or people!

Hello there!

Happy Wednesday - its hump day! Woo hoo! I hope you are having a good week and have been able to enjoy some sunshine.

Soooo....its time for a new Christmas challenge over at Christmas at Sweet Stampin and this one made me chuckle a little bit. This month we'd love to see snowmen/people on your Christmas creations! It seems funny that as soon as there is some decent sunshine outside we are asking you to make cards featuring some snowmen! Hee, hee!

Anyway, here is my card.....

First off....I love this cute backing paper...all those cute little snowmen! They are fab! I especially love the one peeking over the top of the sentiment! Hee, hee! My image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a tiny bit of sparkle with my Stickles - now you all know how much a love a bit of sparkle!

Pop by the Christmas at Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see how the fab DT have used snowmen/people on their cards this month. While you're there you can also find out about our fab prize this month from our sponsor.....

Last weekend I spent the weekend in London with my best friend Becca - we had a fab time! We saw Michael Buble on the Friday night and Top Hat the musical on Saturday night. While we were there we also made it our mission to try out a couple of cocktails! I am quite impressed with our efforts as we managed quite a few, here are some of my favourites.....

These were on the terrace of the Radio Bar at ME Hotel - rubbish service, but wow what a view!! Cocktails were tasty too!

Now these were special - we're at One Aldwych here and this is their Smoking Charlie cocktail - inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Yes, it was smoking!!

Finally, my favourite place - the American Bar at The Savoy. Amazing service and amazing cocktails!

Oh, I've got one last thing that I'd like to share with you....I met someone very important when I was in London.....

Hee, hee! Yes, Becca and I spent quite a while running around Hamleys like a pair of big kids!! This was just one of their Lego models!

Butterflies & Bows

Hello there! Happy Saturday,

I hope you are well and have had a lovely weekend.

This is a lovely scheduled post today as I am current in London with Becca on our weekend of fun! Last night we were at the Michael Buble concert at the O2 (praying that he sings just one Christmas song!!) and tonight we are off to see Top Hat on the Strand. Its been so busy at work over the last couple of months and we've both been really looking forward to this weekend.

So, today's challenge at Sweet Stampin is one that definitly challenged me a little bit....this week we want to see butterflies and bows on your creations. Now these are probably my least two favourite embellishments of all time! I'm not sure why....I just can't seem to use them well! Anyway, challenges are here to push us out of our comfort zones...so here is my card....

I've gone with a zingy orange and green colour combo (although I'm not sure what I did with the colours in this photo!!) as I thought this would go with the fab Pollycraft image. I've coloured the image with my Promarkers, added a little bit of sparkle to the butterflies with my Stickles and finally added some faux stitches in pencil. I have tied a bow in some gingham ribbon before attaching that to the card too.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see how the rest of Team Abi used butterflies and bows on their cards! While you're there you can also check out our fab sponsors this challenge and the prizes on offer!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly - anything goes

Pop by these fab blogs if you have the chance to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created.

If you get the chance you could also pop by my new blog that I have started with my sister Lorna - over there we will be sharing our afternoon tea experiences....we promise lots of photos of yummy cakes!!

Thanks for popping by today,
see you soon!
