Something New....

Hello there,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that your new year has started well. I have to say I have enjoyed the laziest Christmas I have had in ages....I celebrated with Joe, my friends and family...watched lots of Christmas movies, ate and drank far too much and generally had a rest! It was wonderful!

Now, I'm back with a lovely new challenge for you from Sweet Stampin....to start the new year off we have a "something new" challenge for you. Your project can feature anything new...whether that be a new home, a new baby or maybe like me some new stash!

I love sending letters and cards and so after Christmas love to make thank you cards for the gifts I have received. While looking in the Digi Stamp Boutique online store I came across a lovely collection of thank you images that I thought were perfect for my thank you cards.

As well as the new stamps I have also used new papers to create my cards. The images have been coloured with my Promarkers and I have of course added a little bit of sparkle with my Stickles.

For more "new" inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week. While you are there you can find out about our fab sponsor this week.....

Charming!

Hello there!

I'm back again with a new challenge from My Time to Craft and this week we'd like to see your projects featuring a charm.

Now this is something that I don't really use on my cards, not sure why really. When I found out about this theme I decided to have a look through my stash and I found the cutest needle and thimble charms that go perfectly with my sewing digi images.....

I also found this fab backing paper that reminds me of thread when I am sewing! I have matched the patterned paper with some pale blue paper and a splash of yellow paper. My image has been printed and I have added a little colour with my Promarkers.

For more charm inspiration pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog and take a peek at all the fab DT cards!

If you are looking for something a little bit different to read too, have you seen my afternoon tea blog? Lots of scrummy photos and reviews - plus March is tea month and so we have lots of tea articles! Tea With Me and Friends - perfect reading with a nice cup of tea and a cake!

Just a note...

Hello there,

Its me again...I'm still lying by the pool basking in the warm Spanish sunshine (fingers crossed!). Here is another scheduled post from me...this time I'm bringing you the My Time to Craft challenge.

This week we'd like to see your thank you cards. Now I love thank you cards....I send them whenever I can...my poor friends probably have quite a large collection between them now!

I have used one of my new favourite stamps for this card.....

Isn't it a cute image?? The stamp is actually just the typewriter and paper....you can then add your own sentiment. I've gone with a vintage feel for my thank you card, using plain brown backing paper and that fab newspaper print paper. My image has been stamped and I have added a thank you sentiment to the paper.

Bold and Beautiful!

Hello there,

Happy National Afternoon Tea week! I hope you've had a spot of tea and cake this week to celebrate!

As well as a host of different posts on our afternoon tea blog this week, I have also celebrated the wonderful tradition of afternoon tea with my work colleagues by taking some of my tea cups and homemade mini Victoria sponges into the office!

So, onto this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin....this week we have an interesting theme for you.....we want to see your bold and beautiful creations! Now this got me thinking for a while...bold and beautiful...that could be so many things! Then it struck me...in my eyes there is nothing more beautiful than a perfectly laid afternoon tea table....so with this in mind I got crafting.....

It is definitely bold with that fab backing paper and I also think its quite beautiful! I have stamped my images and coloured them with my Promarkers. I also added a little bit of sparkle to the cakes with my Stickles. I have fixed my backing papers in place and then arranged my stamped afternoon tea images in place using a combination of glue and 3D sticky pads.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see how the other DT members have interpreted the theme this week. While you're there you can find out about all our fab sponsors this week....

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge - use your new stash (the fab paper was bought this week!)

So I hope wherever you are in the world you have indulged in a little tea and cake this week, and maybe a scone or two!

Cute and Cuddly

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope you are well today and have had a fab week!

Well, cute and cuddly is the theme for our challenge at Sweet Stampin this week, but its also a current theme in my home at the moment. Last weekend Joe and I decided to get two lodgers for the house....I'm not too sure about our choice though...they are not very good at paying the rent.....

Hee, hee!

These little fluff balls are called Tinker (black and white) and Steve (the grey one)....can you guess which one was named by Joe??

Sooo....what does my cute and cuddly card look like? Well, I was lucky enough to be given a fab Stamp Fairy image....

Soooo cute!! I've gone for a bright and cheerful colour scheme, and I have coloured my image with my Promarkers. I've added some punched flowers with a little sparkle and a cute thank you sentiment.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see how the other fab members of Team Abi used the theme on their cards. While you're there you can find out about our fab sponsors....

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Anything but a Birthday!

Hello there...lovely to see you!

I'm sorry that I haven't been around much in blogland this week...after my lovely week off work I was rudely brought back to reality with a rather busy work diary this week! I'm currently demonstrating some new software to colleagues around the business and this has meant trips to Leeds, our head office in New Malden and Cheltenham....lots of travelling!

Anyway, I wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone for their lovely Birthday messages, I've really loved reading them all and will be visiting you all soon I promise. I had a brilliant birthday and a fab party last Saturday, everyone dressed for the occassion and we listened to rock n roll all night ......

This is me and Joe ready to party...my fab hair stylist Lucy gave me my retro do!

Everyone made such an effort...here I am with the girlies (and Gerty the puppy!)

Finally, it wouldn't be a blog post without some cake!

Soooo....today's challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week is really quite good for me. The challenge is "anything but a Birthday"....so we want to see your projects that do not include Birthdays! Considering all the lovely pressies I recieved last week I opted to make a thank you card....

I've gone all pretty and girlie for this card, using soft pastel colours to compliment the pretty doilly and flower paper. My cupcakes have been coloured with my Promakers and I have added a little bit of sparkle to the cherries.

Pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see all the fab projects that the Team Abi have created this week. While you're there you can find out about the fab prizes that our sponsors are offering this week...

All Stitched Up!

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

Well....one thing I can say is that time sure does fly when you're having fun! I'm not sure what has happened to my week off...its whizzed by!

I've had a fab week....Monday was spent in the spa with my best friend Becca. We really were ladies of leisure - I was soooo relaxed afterwards. Then I spent a couple of days on the Isle of Wight with Joe - and that was brilliant. There is sooo much to do and see, we're definitly going back! I think the best bit was feeding the penguins and walking with the wallabys (yes I am a big kid at heart!!).

Now it's Saturday again and tonight is my 1950s themed birthday party....I can't wait to see how everyone looks! I've baked myself a Birthday cake (the problem with being "the one that bakes" in a group of friends is that there is no one to bake your cake when its your Birthday!!). Here is a sneak peek.....

Anyway, enough of my jabbering....I have a card for you today for the fab challenge over at My Time to Craft. This week we have a "stitching" theme....your card can feature real or faux stitching we don't mind as long as there are some stitches on there!!

I've gone a little mad with the theme....but when I saw this digi image I just had to have it!!

Isn't ot fab?? Not sure what has happened to the colour of my photo...I messed around with it a bit and seem to have produced some hot pink bits which aren't really that pink!! Think pastel colours!!

I've coloured my image with my Promarkers, going with pretty pastel shades (honest!!) to go with the kraft and pretty patterened backing paper. I've added my faux white stitches to the kraft to make them stand out.

Pop by the My Time to Craft Challenge blog to see how my lovely teamies used stitching on their cards!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

I Heart Promarkers - pastel colours
Papertake Weekly - one paper taker (one patterened paper only)
Top Tip Tuesday - sewing that isn't machine sewing

Late night inspiration....

Hello there!

A quick late night post from me tonight! I've had a lovely time this evening zipping around blog-land, catching up on all the gorgeous cards that people have been making recently. I wasn't going to make a card tonight, but after spending so much time looking at gorgeous cards I was inspired!!

So, here is my card....

Please excuse the slightly odd shape of the card....and the bad lighting...this is what happens when you get too excited and do things in a rush!!!

I love this cute little image, which some of you might recognise from older posts. I just think those little kitties are soooo cute! I always wonder what they might be singing and how bad they sound!!

I've used fresh spring time colours for this card, coupled with that gorgeous piece of Kraft paper (my new addiction at the moment!!). I've coloured my image with my Promarkers, and added a sentiment and some punched flowers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - raining cats and dogs
The Pink Elephant - spring colours

Pop by both these blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week.

All style and no substance!

Hello there...hope you've had a good day!

Mine has been full of meetings....I have so meetings at the moment, but that gives me so little time to actually do the work inbetween the meetings! Silly really!!

Anyway, for all you yummy mummies in the UK I hope you enjoyed your Mothering Sunday and I hope you were spolit rotten. We took mum for her annual Mother's Day afternoon tea in London (an expensive tradtion that we started by accident years ago!!). This year we took mum to a certain 5 star hotel which has a Mad Hatters afternoon tea on offer....it looked brilliant and we were so excited to go.....

However, I'm afraid it was a sad case of style over substance! Everything looked so good, and there was a lot of attention to detail. The menu was presented in a copy of Alice in Wonderland, the teas were in minature perfume bottles and the sugar cubes were in a musical box. Shame that they didn't give us enough tea strainers....or spoons...and forget to tell us that the herb butter was in fact garlic butter! They also left us sitting there for ages when we first arrived...after informing us that we only had the table for two hours! When they did finally bring us our tea they managed to mix them all up! The food was questionable...but thats a matter of personal taste rather than anything else....but the service was awful!! We'd never go back and actually we were quite pleased when our two hours were up!

Here is Lorna sampling one of their themed delights...

Not exactly the face you should be pulling at afternoon tea!

Anyway, we had a lovely time anyway....we giggled a lot!

If you're in the UK you'll know that just as we thought spring had sprung, winter has decided to put in an appearance again...it's freezing!! Thats what make's this evening's card a little bit funny...as I was inspired by all the "spring time" challenge that are about at the moment.....

I'd love to be in a warm field full of daisys at the moment, wearing one of my vintage dresses and my flip flops...instead I am wrapped in so many layers, sat in front of the heater! Hee, hee!!

Anyway, my sentiment has been stamped and coloured with my Promarkers. I have then created a fresh spring time background with a pretty yellow paper and that gorgeous daisy patterned paper. I think this makes a very pretty thank you card!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge - springtime
Cupcake Craft Challenge - its only words
Crafty Sentiments - hello spring

Give Thanks

Hello there....long time no see!!

I hope you've had a lovely week and you're now looking forward to the weekend! I've had a fun packed and really busy week! Last weekend, as some of you know, I went on a rock 'n' roll themed weekend with my sister Lorna. Its an event thats been held for the passed 15 years in Pontins Camber Sands and I'm pleased to report that we had a fantastic time! There was lots of live music, DJs, dancing, dressing up and cars! It was like we were walking around the set of Grease all weekend! Lorna and I adore the 50s and have started to perfect our look, and we're definitly not there yet....however spurred on by a weekend of people watching we're going back nect year and aim to have full outfits and hair dos!!

Here are a selection of photos from the weekend that I'd like to share with you all.....

This is the Sunday morning "car boot sale"...check out all those fab outfits!

Lorna and her new head scarf!

Me and a rather yummy mince pie...check out the HUGE blob of cream...yes I ate it all!! Naughty, naughty!!

As well as this fun, I've also had Thursday and today off to celebrate my boyfriend's Birthday.....Joe turned 31 yesterday and we spent the day lounging, going bowling and having a rather yummy dinner with his parents at Jamies in Guildford.

Happy Birthday Joe!

Yesterday was also a special day in America....I hope all my American blog friends have enjoyed the celebrations! Happy Thanks Giving!

With this in mind I also have a a little card for you today.....

Not a traditional thanks giving card...but a thank you card none the less!!

I'm not entirely sure about the colour combo, I wanted something pretty that would compliment the kraft paper...I think it kinda works, but I'm just not 100% sure!!

I've stamped my image on kraft paper and have coloured the cupcake with my Promarkers. The blue paper is pleated at one end...you can't really see it in this photo, but I promise its pleated!!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - paper pleating
The Pink Elephant - give thanks
Love to Create - give thanks
Crafty Sentiments - give thanks

Thanks....

Hello There....Happy Friday!

Yes, yes...I know I'm technically away for the weekend...but there is always time for a quick card isn't there??

So I've got a cute thank you card for you today.....I love this sentiment....

I also love pink and blue as a colour combo....I think they go so well together, especially when in these soft shades.

Soooo....isn't that a cute Bugaboo image?? When I saw it I knew I had to add it to my ever growing collection of images!! I've coloured the image with my Promarkers and attached it to the card using 3D sticky pads. The sentiment was created on my computer and also attached to the card with 3D sticky pads. The layout for this card comes from the fab sketch over at Cupcake Craft Challenges....I've just flipped it on its side to fit my image in!!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown - Thankful
Oldie but a Goodie - NOT Christmas! My old item is the polka dot paper...I love it and its been in my collection for as long as I can remember..I'm slowly using it up in strips!!
Aud Sentiments - Thanks
Simon Says Stamp - thank you

What a brilliant weekend!

Hello campers! I hope you are well and have had a lovely weekend!

My weekend has been every bit as good as I hoped it would be (I was a tad bit worried that I would be let down in all my excitment!!).

On Saturday, Lorna, Becca and myself got dressed up and went to the Berkley for a Pret a Portea. This is what we ate....

It looked amazing and tasted just as good! We treated ourselves to a glass of bubbles and enjoyed delicious sandwhiches and tasting spoons before starting on the sweet goodies! The service was amazing, everyone was so friendly and the food kept on coming! We had a wonderful afternoon!

Then today the three of us visited the Festival of Vintage at Epsom Downs race course....as some of you will know, I have a bit of a soft spot for anything vintage! We wandered around the fab stalls selling everything from clothes and hats to homewares and recordplayers. I bought myself a lovely full length winter coat and a cute knitted jumper, Lorna bought a brilliant evening dress for her Birthday in December and Becca added to her brooch collection....and bought her first item of vinatge clothing!

There was also fashions shows, live music and dancing....it was brilliant!

Here I am posing in my new living room! Hee, hee!

Soooo....after all this excitment I decided to make a simple card!

Told you it was simple!

I love this stamp, but its rather large and I rarely use it. However, I thought it would probably work for a clean and simple card where I wanted the image to be the main focus! I've stamped both the image and the sentiment and coloured the image with my Promarkers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - Clean and Simple
Allsorts - inspired by a song - "These Boots are Made for Walking"
Crazy 4 Challenges - thank you card or thanks giving card

Lots of thank yous....

Hello there...hope you're having a good day!

First off...I am so chuffed...remember those yummy strawberry cupcakes that I entered in the "its a gift" challenge over at Allsorts last week?? Welllll.....they got picked as one of the Top 5 for that challenge! I'm so pleased! Thank you Brenda and the lovely Allsorts ladies!!

Right, on with today's cards....I've been a little busy crafting as I have a few thank you cards that I want to send out....I have had a very lucky August as some of you know and I wanted to say thanks!

Here is my first card....

I've used some plain blue paper and some really pretty floral paper to create this card. I have used some cute sewing stamped images, some punched lace paper and some cute pins. I've added a little faux stitching along the paper lace with a blue pen and added a computer generated sentiment.

I've coloured my images using my Promarkers:
Satin
China Blue
Rose Pink

Plus I have paper pieced some gorgeous old wrapping paper onto the dress image. Its wrapping paper that I've had since my Birthday last year....I love keeping pretty paper as you never know when you might get to use it!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - a stitch in time
Passion for Promarkers - needles and pins (use stitching and at least one pin)
Oldie but a Goodie - paper piecing (my old thing is that gorgeous wrapping paper!)

I have also created this card today....

I just love this cute LOTV image.....the mice are soooo cute!! I've shaped the top of the card and added some plain blue paper and some pretty pink patterned paper. I've stamped my image onto plain white card and coloured it with my Promarkers. Finally I added my computer generated sentiment.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts - anything but square
Lili's Little Fairies - anything but square

Pop by all the blogs mentioned to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week!

Thank you berry much!

Hello folks!

Me again! Well, you can't stop me today! Thank you for all your lovely comments about my new DT post....I am very excitited!

I was looking at my card stash today and I realised that I didn't have any Thank You cards left! Well that wouldn't do so I got crafting!!

I've gone with a red and white colour combo for this sweet thank you card! Using some plain red backing paper, topped with some gorgeous red gingham paper. I've stamped my strawberry images and coloured them with my Promarkers. Finally I embellished my card with a cute mini doilly and some red buttons.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - gingham/checks
DYSU - red
Papertake Weekly - Strawberries & cream

Black and White and not square!

Hello Folks, hope you're having a fab Saturday!

I have a quick card for you today as I am supposed to be getting ready for a night out (yes I realise its very early!!).

So this card is for the Black and White challenge over at Allsorts this week.....I've been a bit naughty adding a little brown to the image and I hope the Allsorts ladies let me off. The image looked a bit odd without the brown though!

I'd also like to enter this in the "shape it up" challenge over at CES Challenge this week, they want to see cards that are any shape except for square. I'm afraid that I've been a little boring here with my rectangle card - sorry!!

Pop by both blogs to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Animal Antics!

Evening All!

A late one from me this evening as I am just back from our annual Brownie trip to the panto! We saw Mother Goose this year and as usual the Brownies loved it! Before I went I needed to create a thank you card for my sister to give to one of her Guides and this is what I came up with....

Now there is a reason for there being an elephant on this card...and its not Lucy's favourite animal! No, my sister Lorna was given a "knit an elephant kit" for Christmas two years ago, on the box of the kit is a smug looking 8 year old with the finished item so we all thought it must be easy! Lorna started knitting the elephant, but struggled because she found she could knit, but couldn't purl (I sympathise with Lorna as this is my problem with knitting too!!). One week Lorna mentioned her knitting woes to her Guides, and Lucy offered to finish the elephant for her. This was before Christmas....but we now have the finished elephant!

This card is perfect for this week's challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge where they have an "animal antics" theme this week! Pop over to their blog to see all the fab DT cards!

Right, its late and I'm sleepy so I'll wish you all goodnight! Thanks for popping by today, hope to see you again soon!

Friday Challenge

Morning!

Before I head off to work I thought I'd share a quick card with you...this one is inspired by the "no designer paper" theme at Whoopsi Daisy and the monochrome challenge over at Cute Card Thursday.

I decided to go with shades of blue for my colour combo, using plain coloured paper to frame the stamped image and my sentiment.

I love this stamp and have already used it loads, in the set I've got this small tree and a much larger one. I stamp it in plain black in and then add stickles glitter glue for a little sparkle.

Instead of designer backing paper I decided to create my own background using two flower stamps and some blue ink.

Right, I'd better get my skates on...work is calling!

Thanks for popping by today, hope to see you again soon.

I've been baking...again!

Hello there! I hope you're keeping well!

I've had such a lovely evening, my mum cooked dinner for me...I made some cards...and I tried my hand at baking some biscuits. I'm usually more of a cupcake kinda girl, but my friend Anika bought my mum a fab baking book for Christmas and I was inspired to try some of the recipes! On behalf of mum I'd like to thank Anika....I love the book!! This evening I made some butterscotch cookies and some iced ring biscuits....I remember the iced rings from when I was a child and couldn't wait to try them out! They might not look as good as the pictures in the book, but I can confirm that they taste fab!!

Now onto the card I made! I've used a sketch from this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge and used the theme from this week's Stamp Fairy Challenge (layers & buttons!).

The sketch was fun to use and allowed me to use lots of layers for the Stamp Fairy Challenge. I love this cute stamp and the sentiment is one that I use a lot as it always makes people smile!

Thanks for popping by my blog today,

A little bit of support!

Ohhh...another late post from me! I didn't realise what the time was! I'm a little bit sad this evening because there is only one more day of the Christmas madness before the real world becons and I have to go back to work...boo hoo!!

I had a lovely surprise when I looked on the Secret Crafter Saturday challenge blog yesterday....I'd only gone and won the December prize! How cool! I get to choose 5 digis from Stitchy Bear Stamps...how lucky am I?!? Thanks everyone!

The challenge this week over at SCSC is buttons and bows, the DT have created some gorgeous projects for inspiration....and here is my card:

I'm at Joe's at the moment, and crafting here is always a little bit basic because I really don't have that much stash here (even if Joe thinks its too much!!). I didn't have any buttons at my disposal so I made some! I've used pink backing paper, topped with some gorgeous grey patterned paper...I also added a little ribbon and a bow to the corner. I then made my card bra from more pink card, adding a little ribbon bow and my handmade buttons...and a cute little pearl.

I'm not sure where the inspiration for making a bra thank you card came from, but I think its cute and perfect to give to any of my friends after they've listened to my latest moaning! Hee, hee!

I'd also like to enter this card in this week's challenge over at Allsorts where their theme is "Thank you"....I wonder how many bra cards they'll get?!?

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you pop by again soon!

An awesome way to end the year!

Just when you thought I'd posted for the last time in 2010 here I am again! I got some wonderful news this morning from the lovely Sharon who I've "met" this year through the SSW blog. Sharon has passed on this fab award to me and I'm dead chuffed:

I can't tell you how much awards like this mean to me, however silly it may seem. I love crafting and enjoy what I do, but to have a peer (an uber talented one!) pass on an award is the cherry on top of the cake! Sharon's cards are just gorgeous and I love stopping by her blog each week to see what she's been up to. Thank you Sharon for sharing this with me....a great way to finish my crafting year!

Now the rules in accepting this blog award are to tell 8 things about me that you probably don't know and then pass along the award to 8 other bloggers that I think are fantastic! That'll be tough because there are so many out there!
  1. My nickname "Wedgie" came from my brother-in-law Jim...he's been calling me it for years!
  2. My real name is Rachel, but I answer to either name!
  3. I've been making cards now for 6 or 7 years now, but I never thought I was creative when I was younger!
  4. Although pink and purple are my favourite colours now I was a real tom boy when I was younger!
  5. I'm a finger nail nibbler...I can't help it!!
  6. My sister is called Lorna and I'm so pleased that she is dabbling in the crafting world...although papercrafting isn't her thing!
  7. I love coffee...you can't beat a good cup of coffee.I also drink a lot of green tea!
  8. I love hosting tea parties with Lorna, we invite our friends Becca, Sheree & Anika over and feed them cake!

Now for the difficult bit....here are the 8 fab bloggers I'm passing this lovely award onto:

The rules for receiving this award are:
  • Thank and link back to the person who sent this to you.
  • Share 8 things about yourself
  • Pass this award on to 8 bloggers
  • Contact those bloggers and tell them you sent them this award.

Thank you again Sharon for this fab award, you really made me smile!
