Boys to Men

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! I hope you're well and had a great week!

This week over at Sweet Stampin we have a shiny new challenge for you.....and its one that shoves me firmly out of my comfort zone. Our theme is "boys to men" - yes, we want to see your masculine cards!

As Joe loves cars so much, I decided to feature a shiny sports car in this card.....

Yes, I know....there seems to be a bit of an 80s vibe with this card! Possibly the colours.....or maybe that car image! Either way I really enjoyed putting this card together!

For more challenge inspiration pop by the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog, while you're there you can read all about our fab sponsor this week...

Oh no...time for a masculine card!

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! I hope you are well and haven't caught any of these nasty cold bugs that are doing the rounds at the moment. I can report that I have finally manage to catch a head cold and I'm feeling rather sorry for myself....it's that or I am rather allergic to all this work lark!

So, you may have noticed in the blog post title that this week I have a masculine card for you today.....and some of you might know how this theme is not my favourite! I find it really hard to get excited about masculine cards. However, with this new challenge at Sweet Stampin I decided to put my best foot forward and try and enjoy the experience.

I actually surprised myself with this creation and enjoyed being challenged....

I went with a green and brown colour combo to go with my golf themed card....I even got a bit creative with a toothpick to make my sentiment! My image is coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a little faux stitching. I am really pleased with the end results and actually enjoyed making this masculine card! Maybe its all those polka dots (they look a bit like golf balls I think!)

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Papertake Weekly - It's All New - the sentiment is new to me

Just for Men...

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! It's the weekend at long last! It's been a really busy week this week, which found me in Nottingham, Swindon and also London. I am shattered and really glad that it's the weekend!

I'm back with another challenge for you from Sweet Stampin and this week Team Abi have a challenge for you that normally leaves me feeling really rather cold! Yes, its that "just for men" theme that I dislike as it tends to mean I have to steer clear of the pinks and purples in my paper stash. However, this time I have to say that I am actually quite pleased with my card and I might even go as far as saying I enjoyed making it!

Shock horror!! Here it is....

As you can see I have gone with a brown and blue colour combo for my masculine card and I have stamped a hand of cards. I must admit I added a little faux stitching which I suppose is a little girly, but overall I think it's a very masculine looking card!

For more masculine inspiration (cards not men!!) pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at Team Abi's DT cards. While you are there you can also take a peek at our fab sponsor this week.....

Dead Impressed!

Hello there,

Happy Saturday! I hope you've had a wonderful week.

So, I have to say I am a little impressed with myself....our theme for this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin is transport....and without even thinking I've managed to create myself a masculine transport themed card. Now I know for some of you wonderful crafters that's probably quite a normal thing....but for me....Queen of the girly cards...to not automatically reach for the pink and purple papers is quite an achievement! Hee, hee!

So, what does my transport themed card look like I hear you ask....well here you go....

Sweet Stampin DT card - Theme - Transport

I've gone with a brown colour pallet for this card, with a hint of green and red. My mini is coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a little faux stitching. This mini actually looks quite like my own first car, which was an old beat up brown mini!

For more transport inspiration, pop by the Sweet Stampin challenge blog and take a peek at Team Abi's fab DT cards this week! While you're there you can also read about our fab sponsor this week.....

I'd also like to enter this card at:

Hmmm....out of my comfort zone here!

Hello there - happy hump day!

I hope you are all keeping well and are having a fab week so far!

So, can you believe that we're already in October? I know I say it every month....but I'm really not sure where this year has flown by to! Its time for a new challenge over at Christmas at Sweet Stampin and this month's challenge really stumped me!

This month we want to see masculine Christmas cards. Now any regular visitor to my blog will know how much I struggle with masculine cards at the best of time! I tend to make very girly cards...a bit of pink, a bit of purple....and lots of sparkle and I'm happy! Add a cupcake or two and I'm beaming! As soon as anyone mentioned "masculine" however I shudder a little!!

So, I thought long and hard about this theme....and created the following.....

Now, I'm not entirely happy with this creation....its definitely masculine...but is it a Christmas card? I'm not so sure! I've stamped my tree image and decorated it with my Stickles. I have then selected several different masculine backing papers to make up the background. My sentiment was created on my computer.

Pop by the Christmas at Sweet Stampin challenge blog to see some great inspiration from the DT....they've created some real masculine Christmas cards for you!!

While you're there you can also find out about our fab sponsor this month and the prize we have on offer for you....

Its all about the Doggies!

Evening Folks!

How are you today, happy hump day! I thought I'd share a quick Birthday card with you that I made for my brother-in-law Jim. As you may know Jim and my sister Lorna are the proud owners of two rather lovely Boston Terriers called Barry and Gerty.

Inspired by these two fab doggies I made Jim this card for his Birthday....

I've gone with a masculine brown and blue colour combo, colouring my image with my Promarkers. I've also added a little paw print embellishment from brown paper.

I'm really pleased with how this card turned out.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Top Tip Tuesday - Masculine
Tuesday Throwdown - You're the man
Papertake Weekly - Hello boys
Crafty Sentiments - Card for a man
Glitter n Sparkle - male card

I thought I'd leave you with one last photo....here is Gerty taking a nap.....

Something for the boys!

Hello there! Its hump day - woo hoo!

I hope you're enjoying your week so far...I can't believe that May is nearly over already! What is happening to this year??

Anyway, last weekend I had an action packed time - on Saturday I went to the Burlesque Afternoon tea with Lorna, it was officially my last Birthday treat of this year! We had a fabulous time...the tea was yummy and the entertainment was good fun! Lorna and I both dressed for the occasion....Lorna in full on 1920s flapper style and me in my 1950s dress and petticoat. Here is a dodgy photo that someone took of us

Doesn't Lorna look fab?

So a very girlie day on Saturday....followed by a more manly day on Sunday as Joe and I took part in a charity car rally. It started with a procession in Petersfield that made us feel like celebrities...this was the view from inside Joe's car....

All those people lining the streets were fantastic...taking photos and waving at all the participants! It was such good fun. We then drove off in convoy, travelling to several different check points...to be honest the traffic jams were quite cool....

Finally we ended up in Farnham, our final destination. The sun shone all day and the cars all looked fantastic!

So, I do have a card for you today...and it fits in with my car day....

I've gone with a blue and brown colour theme for my masculine car, along with a fab Mini stamped image. I have coloured my image with my Promarkers and have added my sentiment and some faux stitching.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - show us your stitching
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes

Sketch Time!

Hello there! Me again!

This time I am back with a fab sketch challenge from My Time to Craft...if you're looking for my Sweet Stampin challenge post you need to scroll down!

Soooo....what does the sketch look like I hear you ask....here you go....

Very cute! Those little stars can be stars....or flowers...or gems....just as long as they sit in the correct place on the card!

Here is how I used the sketch....

Hee, hee! I love this image! He's just so cute!
I've coloured my image with my Promarkers and created my sentiment on my computer. I've gone with a bright colour combo for this card, and added gold stars....perfect for a rocking Birthday!

For more inspiration on how to use this sketch, pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Passion for Promarkers - Special Anniversary anything goes challenge
I Heart Promarkers - anything goes

Pop by all these fab blogs if you've got the change...there are some fab DT cards to be seen!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.....Joe is driving a car in a classic car show in Farnham. Its quite a big show with over 100 cars taking place. I've decided to go along as a passenger....and that means I get to raid my vintage clothes collection and dress up! Its a shame that Joe's car is a 1979 Toyato Celica....I wish he had a 1950s car....I have many more dresses to match that era!

Play your cards right

Hello there! Happy Thursday!

Hope you're having a fab week so far.....I'm a lucky girl this week. I am off to a local theatre tonight to see "That'll Be the Day" with my sister and then I'm heading into London on Saturday to see "Singing in the Rain" with mum! Work is still very manic at the moment, and so I am really looking forward to relaxing in good company and seeing these fab musicals.

I have a slightly different card for you today.....

Yes....I've created a masculine card!

I'm really pleased with how this card looks. I have started with plain green paper, and layered this with some plain red and some red and white gingham paper. I have stamped my playing cards, and created my sentiment on the computer. Finally I have added some faux white stitches (possibly a bit girlie, but I couldn't help myself!).

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - lots of layers
The Pink Elephant - masculine birthday card

If you get the chance pop by these fab blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created!

Men Only!

Hello there! This is my second post for today....if you are looking for my Sweet Stampin DT card please scroll down!

Oh no!! Did you see those dreaded words?? They always make me shudder when I see them in a card challenge....."men only" or "masculine"....yuck!

Not that I'm a man hater or anything....Joe wouldn't be particulary pleased with me for being anti-men...especially as he proved himself to be really romantic this week...for Valentine's day I was cooked a three course meal, with matching wine. He also remembered a card (which featured cupcakes) and even a box of chocolates!

Noooo...I'm just a girlie kinda crafter...anything pink, cute or sparkly and I'm there! I struggle more when I have to make a card fit for a man!!

So, when I saw the challenge this week at My Time to Craft was "men only" I decided I would use one of my favourite manly stamps....I think I probably always get this stamp out for these challenges!!

Pop by the My Time to Craft Challenge blog to see how all the other DT members used the theme.

I've coloured my stamped image with my Promarkers and then I opted for a manly blue and brown colour combo. I was quite pleased with myself for finding that paper that looks a little bit like wood!

To be honest I'm not sure why I struggle with manly cards and I am pleased with how this one has turned out....I suppose practice makes perfect!

I'd also like to enter this card over at Tuesday Throwdown where they have an anything goes challenge for us this week!

For him....

Hello there, hope you're having a fab weekend!

Do you ever wonder why the weekends fly by so much quicker than the week days?? I do!! I'm sure that as soon as 6pm Friday comes around we switch to a different...faster time...and as soon as we wake up on Monday morning the time switches back again!!

I've had a lovely weekend....yesterday was spent in Guildford at a vintage fair with my sister. I bought two new dresses from a bargain rail...I was very pleased with myself! I also went to a fireworks display last night, I haven't been to an organised event in years and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Today has been spent in the kitchen.....my perfect Sunday! I've made a new batch of soups to freeze for my work day lunches and I've made a  batch of peanut butter cupcakes.....

I can confirm that they are indeed very yummy!

I've also made time for a little crafting today.....and after all the girlie creating in the kitchen I decided to go with something a little more masculine for my craft......

I created my bookmark using plain brown and blue card, a cute little image that has been coloured with my Promarkers and some shiny gold stars. I've finished the bookmark off with some faux stitching and some bronze ribbon.

I'd like to enter this project in the following projects:

Allsorts - men only
Crazy 4 Challenge - anything but a card
Tuesday Throwdown - team spirit
Crafty Sentiments - seeing stars

I have a new toy.....

.....its not for card making, but since I get a lot of lovely positive comments about my baking I thought you might like to see it anyway! I have got my sticky mitts on a Lakeland 12 cup mini sandwich tin....which means I should be able to make perfect mini victoria sponges, mini cheesecakes and other cute delights! I say should because my first attempt has been a little dodgy.....

Here I have a mini victoria sponge cake and come cute little coffee cakes!

The wonky tops are due to me rushing (to use the tin!) and not letting my butter come to room tempreture before baking - silly me! However, the tin itself is fab...its got these little removable bottoms to help get the cakes out of the pan and its lovely and heavy (not sure why that makes it good, but it does!!). I'd highly recommend getting on if you are into your baking!

Anyway, enough about my baking....I have also made a card for you today!!

This little cutie is a Bugaboo image which I have had for ages, but I love...he also makes me smile! I've coloured him with my Promarkers and added a little sparkle with my Stickles. As this is a masculine card I have gone with blue plain and patterned papers. I've added a Birthday sentiment created on my computer.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Passion for Promarkers - for a man/youth
Papertake Weekly - Happy 5th Birthday Papertake! - anything goes challenge with an optional celebration theme
Oldie but a Goodie - inspired by a song - my image is over 6 months old and I was inspired by David Bowie's Space Oddity
Crafty Sentiments - Happy Birthday

What a lovely weekend!

Hello there! Happy Sunday!

The weather has been suberb this weekend in Aldershot and I've had such a lovely time. My sister Lorna, her hubby Jim and their puppy Barry visited me yesterday and stayed overnight. We had a picnic and played with Barry in the sunshine. Then we had friends over for dinner...then we banished the boys and had a really girlie evening complete with bubbles and giggles! So much fun!

Today I've had a bit of a lazy day, which has been lovely. I spent this afternoon making up some card orders and making some DT....I suddenly feel a bit organised!

Anyway...my last card was a bit different....and so is this one.....

Wow...yes I made a masculine card! And double wow...I'm actually quite pleased with it! The fab layout is from the sketch over at Crazy 4 Challenges this week and I really enjoyed using it. My Pollycraft image has been coloured with my Promakers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Crafty Sentiments - male card
Allsorts - layers

Pop by all the blogs mentioned to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been made.

I got some more exciting news yesterday...I was featured as one of the spotlight cards of the week over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge....thank you so much ladies!!

Finally I thought I'd share with you the rather scrummy pudding I made for my friends last night....there is only one problem....I forgot to take a photo before we all got stuck in!!!

It has a wonderful biscuit base and the most decadent chocolate truffle topping. Soooo yummy.....but soooo bad for you!!

Happy Monday!

Hello folks - hope you're well today.

This morning I went for a little run (I've started training again since my knee seems to have settled at long last!!)....and boy was it an epic run! First off I managed to conquer a hill that normally finshes me off before I've begun....I was dead chuffed with myself! Then about 15 minutes later I managed to have a spectacular fall....and landed on my bum right in front of a poor lady (how she didn't tread on me was anyone's guess!!). It was a real slow motion fall....I must have looked really funny!! Oh well!

Anway, here is today's card....and I'm quite pleased with this one....

Isn't he a cheeky chappie? He looks so pleased to be out fishing!!

I've raied my paper stash for lots of different green coloured papers...both plain and patterened....for this card. The image is stamped and coloured with my Promarkers (so are the little fishes!). I created the sentiment tag on my computer. Finally I added some little faux stitches with a brown pen.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenge - the great outdoors
Alphabet Challenge - M is for men
Love to Create - add a tag

A wheely good start to the week!

Hello Crafters! Hope you're all well today.

Well, I honestly can't believe its Monday evening already....where did my day go?? I'm actually quite pleased because my Blooming Tea Party for Marie Curie is taking place this Saturday and I can't wait!

We've got lots of guests, a marquee (the rain won't stop us!!), a vintage theme complete with vintage hair stylist, a fab raffle with lots of prizes and of course lots of cakes!! Here are some little sugar paste roses that made last night for one batch of cakes.

Soooo...its Monday...that means its time for a fab new challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge and this week it's Le Tour de France...we can create anything as long as its something to do with the theme...I went with bikes....

I love this sentiment...its perfect for my Brother in Law Jim.....he's a cycle nut ! Although I'm not sure he'd approve of this bike with that cute basket!! He's just riden the London to Paris ride as a team captain for the second year. Mad man!! I also used the colours of the french flag - red, white and blue.

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges....

Always Crafting - for men
Love to Create - 3 of something (I went with colours - red, white and blue)
Desmet Designs - things with wheels

Bit of a Boring Card!

Hey there...hope you're having a good day!

Well I have to say I'm not particularly impressed with my card this evening....its ok...theres nothing wrong with it...its just a bit boring!!

The photo is also awful...not sure what has happened here, but I seem to have given the card a bit of a vintage feel!!

I do love this stamp....it reminds me of my first car which was a little mini just like this one! Even the colour I've picked is the same!! I've coloured the mini using my Promarkers and used three different backing papers to create this card.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion - Father's Day
Crafty Sentiments - Father's Day
The Pink Elephant - Masculine
Passion for Promarkers - Lots of layers (I've used three)

Not the best colouring!

Helloooeeee!

Thank you to everyone for their lovely Birthday messages, I had such a lovely time this year and its so nice to read everyone's comments too.

I'm back! I've had a fab 24 hours....Joe whisked me off to Bournemouth yesterday afternoon as a Birthday surprise! We paddled in the sea, walked along the beach and stayed in a fab hotel. Then today.....we went to Monkey World! Such a fab place! Yes, I'm a big kid at heart and I don't care!! Joe loves the chimps and made a friend who he wanted to bring home!

As well as the two cards that I posted yesterday, I also started another one which I've had the opportunity to finish off this evening.....I'm not as happy with this one as my colouring is rubbish! However, I love the layout and so decided to share it with you anyway....

See what I mean.....rubbish colouring!

I want to enter this card in the following challenges:

Digi Doodle - paper lace
Papertake Weekly Challenge - a stitch in time (there is faux silver stitching on the grey paper lace!)

I hope this isn't too girlie for a man's card.....I always seem to make things a bit girlie!!

Boys and Their Toys!

Happy Monday!

I've hope you've had a fab day! Well, its another Monday evening and that only means one thing...another fab challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges....and this week the theme is "boys and their toys". Normally I shuddered at the thought of a masculine challenge....but this time I had just the stamp and just the sentiment for the job!

I really enjoyed making this card and didn't get stressed like I normally do making a masculine card....maybe its because I've used softer "boy" colours...or maybe its because I had a car just like this!! My first car was a little brown mini and I LOVED it!

Either way I'm really pleased with this card! Take a peek at the Cupcake blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards that have been created for us this week!

Right, I'm off for some dinner....and then I'm going to settle down with a movie and this little combo.... thanks for popping by this evening, Wedgie xxx
PS - we have a masculine card challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week too!!

Catching Up on some challenges!

Morning All!

I'm lucky enough to have today off work as its my best friend Becca's Birthday tomorrow and I am meeting her later for a girlie afternoon.....a bit of lunch and some shopping are in order! So, this morning I decided to do some baking....no surpries there.....and make some cards. I haven't really had that much time to make cards recently, so I decided to get stuck in on some challenges.

First off I have a dinky little card for my two favourite weekend challenges.....Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and Allsorts....

I love making little cards, this one measures 4inches by 4 inches - so cute! The challenge over at SCSC is "clean and simple".....I think this fits the bill perfectly....a cute little image, a sentiment and a little colour. The Allsorts challenge is "Things with Wings", I hope they like my bee! Pop over to both blogs and check out all the gorgeous DT cards, be quick though because there will be new challenges tomorrow!

My second card is a masculine card to fit in with the challenge over at Simon Says Samp...which this week is either Father's Day or Masculine. After loosing my dad so recently I don't think I'll be making any father's day cards this year, so I opted for "masculine". I've also decided to enter this card in the challenge over at Passion for Promarkers which has a sports theme this week. This is the first time I've entered a challenge there, but I've practised with my promarkers for a couple of months now and decided to give it a go.....after all nothing ventured, nothing gained! The only thing I haven't used Promarkes to colour is my golfers face....I haven't got my skin tone pens yet and had to use a trusty pencil....I hope thats ok with the Promarker DT! Don't forget to pop over to both of these blogs, there are some gorgeous cards to be seen!

The white blob in the corner of the card is supposed to be a golf ball.....looking at it now I'm not so sure! And I hope you like the sentiment - I love play on words on cards, anything to make people smile!

One last thing I wanted to share with you today is a photo of my latest buy for the kitchen....I'm very sad, but these beautiful glass jars for my flour and sugar make me happy when I look in my baking cupboard! They are actually preserving jars, but hey I think they look fab anyway...they even have "home made" etched on them!
Thanks for popping by today, don't forget to pop back tomorrow when I'll tell you all about this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin!
