A little bif of yellow...

Woo hoo....its the weekend!

I hope you've had a fab week....mine has flown by so quickly! In the UK it's Mother's Day on Sunday and as is our family tradition Lorna and I are taking Mum for afternoon tea in London on Sunday. We started this tradition as a one of treat about seven years ago....taking mum to The Savoy....unfortuantly for our pockets mum loves the whole experience and we've gone to a different posh London hotel every year since! This year we've going to The Corinthia which is a year old 5* hotel near Trafalgar Square. The hotel is always a surprise for mum and I really hope she likes our choice this year!

Sooo.....on with today's card....I've finally got around to making a card for the "yellow and pearls" challenge over at A Passion for Promarkers this week. I found this challenge very difficult as I'm not really a fan of yellow....looks fab on bananas and lemons, but not so good on my cards!

I've coloured my image with my Promarkers and I didn't have any normal coloured pearls...so I added green ones, which I'm hoping look ok. The layout is a bit experiemental....I didn't have many yellow papers in my stash and so I just kinda threw downs the ones I found and I think they look ok!

Nature, bugs and bees

Happy Saturday Crafters!

Sooooo....another Saturday means one thing....another fab challenge over at Sweet Stampin and this week we are joined by Crafty Emma's Store as our weekly sponsor. Our challenge this week is nature, bugs and bees....so get stamping and show us some nature!

I did think I was going to struggle a little with the nature and bugs theme, but then I remembered this cute little stamp! I've gone for a blue and brown colour theme again because I liked it sooo much when I used it earlier this week!

Hap-bee Birthday!

Hello folks, how are you this evening?

I'm in a surprisingly good mood for a Monday, not sure why! I've got lots of exciting things happening in the next couple of weeks, maybe thats a factor?? I've got a big meeting at work which I'm organising at The Langham hotel in London, as an organiser I attend the whole event including the dinner and I get to stay in the lovely hotel too. With nearly 70 guests its hard work, but good fun too! I've also got Joe's 30th Birthday and Joe's sister's wedding! So much going on!!

I've been asked to make a card for someone at work who has a Birthday this week, the gentleman in question keeps bees and loves the wildlife in his garden, so I've created this card for him....

I think its a tad bit girlie...what do you think? Hopefully he'll like it anyway! I've used a zingy yellow backing paper, along with some fab black and white polka dot paper for the background. I've also found a list of common garden flowers that I've added to the background too (this is from one of my gardening books so I hope he appreciates it!!). I've stamped a little bee and a happy birthday sentiment onto some plain white card, I've coloured the image with my Promarkers. Finally I added some little dots to frame my bee and some punched red flowers.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges this week:

Allsorts Challenge - anything but square - I'm afraid I haven't been very imaginative, but its not square!!
Cupcake Craft Challenge - textalicious - my list of garden flowers comes from a book!

Finally as promised yesterday, here are the yummy cupcakes that I made last night! They have an amaretto biscuit base, a baileys sponge and some vanilla frosting. I decorated the cupcakes with a little pink shimmer sugar! Joe has declared these as the best cakes he's ever tasted.....they also went down well at work, so I'm pleased!

Thanks for popping by today, I'm off to make some 2D Christmas tree ornaments from felt!

Catching Up on some challenges!

Morning All!

I'm lucky enough to have today off work as its my best friend Becca's Birthday tomorrow and I am meeting her later for a girlie afternoon.....a bit of lunch and some shopping are in order! So, this morning I decided to do some baking....no surpries there.....and make some cards. I haven't really had that much time to make cards recently, so I decided to get stuck in on some challenges.

First off I have a dinky little card for my two favourite weekend challenges.....Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and Allsorts....

I love making little cards, this one measures 4inches by 4 inches - so cute! The challenge over at SCSC is "clean and simple".....I think this fits the bill perfectly....a cute little image, a sentiment and a little colour. The Allsorts challenge is "Things with Wings", I hope they like my bee! Pop over to both blogs and check out all the gorgeous DT cards, be quick though because there will be new challenges tomorrow!

My second card is a masculine card to fit in with the challenge over at Simon Says Samp...which this week is either Father's Day or Masculine. After loosing my dad so recently I don't think I'll be making any father's day cards this year, so I opted for "masculine". I've also decided to enter this card in the challenge over at Passion for Promarkers which has a sports theme this week. This is the first time I've entered a challenge there, but I've practised with my promarkers for a couple of months now and decided to give it a go.....after all nothing ventured, nothing gained! The only thing I haven't used Promarkes to colour is my golfers face....I haven't got my skin tone pens yet and had to use a trusty pencil....I hope thats ok with the Promarker DT! Don't forget to pop over to both of these blogs, there are some gorgeous cards to be seen!

The white blob in the corner of the card is supposed to be a golf ball.....looking at it now I'm not so sure! And I hope you like the sentiment - I love play on words on cards, anything to make people smile!

One last thing I wanted to share with you today is a photo of my latest buy for the kitchen....I'm very sad, but these beautiful glass jars for my flour and sugar make me happy when I look in my baking cupboard! They are actually preserving jars, but hey I think they look fab anyway...they even have "home made" etched on them!
Thanks for popping by today, don't forget to pop back tomorrow when I'll tell you all about this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin!

Sweet Treats

Happy Monday! Hope you're well and had a lovely weekend!

I had such a lovely time at the Squires Kitchen Cake Decoration Exhibition on Saturday, I spent all day there with Rafina...we saw amazing cakes, watched some fab demos, bought some new baking goodies and were generally really inspired. It was awesome!

Tonight I have a fab, bright card to share with you....it just makes me smile when I look at it!

I made this card for two challenges...firstly Cupcake Craft Challenge's challenge is "Up in the Air" with optional green. I'm quite into bees on cards at the moment, and I couldn't resist using Lenny dressed as a bee for this challenge...he's so cute! The second challenge I'm entering this card in is the "show us your green" challenge over at Stamp Fairy....I hope I've used enough green! I've used a plain yellow backing paper, along with some pretty green flowery paper. I've highlighted the flower centres with a little glitter glue. I've coloured Lenny and added him to the card with 3D sticky pads, I've also used some glitter glue on his wings! Pop by both blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards.

Cupcake Craft Challenge also has a DT call this week, stop by their blog for more details!

Do you remember I shared those fab chocolate cake bites with you last week? Well, I've been in the kitchen again and I've been a little bit more brave this time...instead of balls I made mini cupcakes!

I've also developed the recipe a little, making them slightly less sweet and the cake is less squishy! I made vanilla and strawberry ones....and so far the feedback has been really positive. I've ordered some lollypop sticks, so next time I make them, they will be proper cake pops!

Thanks for stopping by today and thank you to everyone for their lovely comments, you always make me smile when I see them.

Old Macdonald Had a Farm!

Morning Peeps! Hope you're all well on this chilly morning!

I had a lovely evening last night...I went to a Pampered Chef party! If you haven't been to one before its a bit like a stylish tuppa-wear party! They have all kinds of wonderful kitchen products and gadgets...someone hosts the party and led by the host you all help to cook things! Its products are great and its just a lovely evening!

Today I have a card for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge and to be honest I think I might be stretching their theme a little bit...but I'll let the lovely cupcake ladies be the judge of that! Their theme is Old Macdonald Had a Farm and here is my card:

Ok, so its not the fist thing you first think of when someone mentions a farm and it doesn't appear in the song...but you find bees on farms so I'm hoping the Cupcake Ladies agree with me! This cheeky little Bee wishing everyone a lovely Birthday is a fab digi image from Bugaboo Stamps, and I just love him!
As you know I can't get enough of polka dot papers and I think the black looks just fab with the yellow and lilac!

I'm off to work now, so I hope you have a lovely Tuesday...see you soon! Thanks for stopping by today.

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 79 Buzz Off!

So, I've just spent a challenging couple of hours at my first ever dress making / sewing class...the tutor is lovely, the ladies are all very friendly and encouraging....I just found the actual sewing rather difficult. In fact it took me the best part of the two hours to sew a zip into a piece of fabric...plus the finished result has rather a lot of wonky stitches on it!! Oh well, what better way to relax then to find myself a card challenge to take part in........

The Cute Card Thursday Challenge this week is entitled "Buzz Off!"....    http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/2009/09/challenge-79-buzz-off.html ......but the lovely ladies are not being rude...no they simply want projects that use a black / yellow combo....which reminded me of one of my favourite Valentine Cards from this year..... Bee Mine!
A really simple card design, made cute with the wobbly eyes on the bee...it proved very popular with my friends and work colleagues! I hope you all enjoy!
