Cause for Celebration!

Helloeee! Happy Saturday!

Well I'm back from the 1950s....and what a fab weekend we had! Rhythm Riot was brilliant this year...I shopped, danced, listened to lots of live music and watched a brilliant car rally...we even had harmonica lessons! In fact we had so much fun we're already planning next year! As you will see from these photos...Lorna and I really got into the swing of things this year.....

1950s day wear...

And 1950s evening wear.....

Anyway, this week at Sweet Stampin we are all a bit excited as its Sweet Stampin's 4th Birthday....a real cause to celebrate! I really love working with the Sweet Stampin DT - everyone is so friendly and supportive.....and very talented! So its great to be able to celebrate another Birthday with the ladies!

So, lets see your celebration cards....

A celebration really needs a cake I think, so that's what I decided to feature on my card! My huge Birthday cake has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added some sparkle with my Stickles.

Something a little bit cute....

Hello there...yes its me...back again!

Instead of going to bed like a good girl last night, I decided to make another card! Hee, hee!! I do love it when the crafting bug bites!

I have a confession to make...I'm a tad bit silly and I read the Cupcake Craft Challenge this week as a grey and lilac colour combo challenge....probably because I love lilac and purple so much! So off I went and made the cup of tea card yesterday in perfect lilac and yellow...then I went to link it up at Cupcake and guess what....I'd got the colours wrong...well at least one of them! The challenge is in fact yellow and grey!! I still don't know how I confused grey and purple!!

Anway, here sporting the correct colours is my card for today.....

Now I'm not sure what it is about this card, but I am really pleased with it. I'm not sure if its that super cute birdie image....or the gorgeous papers or the fab colour combo (why have I never used yellow and grey together before??). But I really love this card!

I've coloured my image with my Promarkers and I've been trying to experiement more with shading and using the pens properly. I'm quite pleased with how Mr Birdie has turned out. I've used a plain yellow and plain grey paper, as well as two gorgeous patterened papers for my background. My sentiment is stamped.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenges - yellow and grey
Allsorts Challenge blog - lets get cute
Love to Create - the lovely Love to Create ladies are celebrating their first year as a challenge blog with a let's celebrate theme!
I Love Promakers - Happy Birthday
Stampin Sensation - Fur and Feather (I went with feather!)

Spotlighting!

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

Hope you've had a fab week!

Sooooo...its 10am on Saturday morning....that means one thing...its time for a fab new challenge from My Time to Craft! This week we have a technique challenge for you....and I have to confess that this is a new technique for me, so already in 2013 I have learnt something new!!

The technique is called spotlighting....and it gives a rather fab effect.....

Isn't that a fab finish....I think the spotlight really highlights the pretty image.

To create this finish yourself you simply need to pick an image and stamp it twice....the main image you leave black and white. The second image you need to punch out a circle which you'd like to highlight and colour that part of the image. You then frame your coloured image circle and stick it onto of your black and white image in the correct place. Ta-dah!

I'm not sure whether that explanation makes any sense or not! It does in my head.....but my head can be a very crazy place!!

This is a from Kanban, and I have coloured my highlighted part with a selction of pastel coloured Promarkers. I have also added a little bit of sparkle to this part of the image. I then went mad with my pastel papers to create the background, adding the doily and my Happy Birthday sentiment.

To see more examples of the spotlighting technique pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog and see all the gorgeous cards that my fellow teamies have made....then why not give it a try yourself!

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
