A movie, some champagne and a wiggly worm!

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope you are keeping well and had a lovely week. Mine has been so busy with work that I haven't even had the opportunity to pop back and tell you about my girly Saturday last weekend!

I went to the fab Valentino exhibition at Somerset House with my sister Lorna, and our two best friends Becca and Sheree. The dresses were all so beautiful and we had a fab time guessing which era they were all from. Then we went onto our vintage themed afternoon tea at an establishment that will remain nameless for reasons you are about to hear!

Soooo....they gave us a glass of bubbles to start, which was probably their saving grace! Next came the sandwiches and the cake stand full of tiny traditional cakes. It all looked wonderful, and we tucked into our sandwiches. Then I noticed something move on one of my sandwiches...I wasn't 100% sure at first, but I thought I saw something tiny wiggle! After much deliberation I poked what I thought had wiggled with my knife and discovered that yes indeed I had a teeny, tiny wiggly thing on my sandwich!!!! This could only happen to me!

Luckily for the restuarant I had already consumed quite a bit of my champagne and therefore decided to see the funny side of the situation. No one else had a wiggly thing in their food and I didn't want to ruin the afternoon, so I pointed the wiggly thing out to a passing chef who was mortified and then accepted the apologies that followed! We got a substantial discount on our meal, I got fresh sandwiches (with a promise of no more wiggly things) and we got free cocktails!! My goodness we all giggled a lot!!

Anyway, I hope that little story made you giggle...

Today we have a fab challenge for you over at My Time to Craft....we want you to make a card inspired by a film or a song. I love challenges like this as there is so much to inspire you....you can also find out a lot about crafters by their choice of film or song!!

Maybe a little predictably I opted for a food related film....Julie & Julia. As well as the obvious food connection, I also love that blogging is a key theme in the film! I also love Meryl Streep's accent!

I've coloured my super cute image with my Promarkers, adding some faux stitching as a border. My sentiment was also inspired by the film and was made on my computer.

Pop by the My Time to Craft challenge blog to see what movie or song inspired the lovely DT ladies to make a card this week! Then get crafting....but don't forget to tell us which movie or song inspired you!

Men Only!

Hello there! This is my second post for today....if you are looking for my Sweet Stampin DT card please scroll down!

Oh no!! Did you see those dreaded words?? They always make me shudder when I see them in a card challenge....."men only" or "masculine"....yuck!

Not that I'm a man hater or anything....Joe wouldn't be particulary pleased with me for being anti-men...especially as he proved himself to be really romantic this week...for Valentine's day I was cooked a three course meal, with matching wine. He also remembered a card (which featured cupcakes) and even a box of chocolates!

Noooo...I'm just a girlie kinda crafter...anything pink, cute or sparkly and I'm there! I struggle more when I have to make a card fit for a man!!

So, when I saw the challenge this week at My Time to Craft was "men only" I decided I would use one of my favourite manly stamps....I think I probably always get this stamp out for these challenges!!

Pop by the My Time to Craft Challenge blog to see how all the other DT members used the theme.

I've coloured my stamped image with my Promarkers and then I opted for a manly blue and brown colour combo. I was quite pleased with myself for finding that paper that looks a little bit like wood!

To be honest I'm not sure why I struggle with manly cards and I am pleased with how this one has turned out....I suppose practice makes perfect!

I'd also like to enter this card over at Tuesday Throwdown where they have an anything goes challenge for us this week!

Stars and Stripes

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope you are well and have had a fab week!

Sooo....today we have a fab, fun challenge for you over at Sweet Stampin! This week's theme is stars and stripes...and its in honour of the lovely Abi who has this week flown out to Texas to see her friend who she hasn't seen in four years. We're all incredibly jealous and hope that Abi has lots of fun....its a shame there wasn't room for us all in her suitcase!!

This week we are joined by the fab Stamp Fairy as a sponsor....and we were lucky enough to be given cute images to play with.....

Isn't he fab??

As Abi is currently in America I decided to go with a red, white and blue colour combo for this card, using both plain and patterned papers. I've coloured the image with my Promarkers, making sure I added some more red, white and blue. Finally I added some extra stars and my computer generated sentiment. I love sentiments that reflect the image, they always make me smile!

The funny thing about this card is that I kinda got carried away with the colour combo and forgot that the actual theme was stars and stripes. I made sure that I added stars to my card....but kinda forgot about the stripes until I was finished!! Luckily there are some stripes on the firework and after discussion with the SS ladies it was decided this was ok!! Whoops!!

Right...I better get going....I'm spending a girly day in London today...I'm meeting Lorna, Becca and Sheree at Waterloo...we're going to the Valentino exhibiton at Somerset House followed by a vintage themed afternoon tea (which apparently also involves free flowing champagne!).

I hope you have a fab weekend whatever you're up to!

Sweet Valentine Wishes

Hello there! Happy Monday!

I hope you've had a good day!

I'm back today with another sweet Valentine's Day card.....

I love this cute Kenny K image....although I think I've printed it out a little small for this card! Its an image that I've used for lots of anniversary cards before...it always makes everyone smile!

The layout for this card is from this week's challenge at Cupcake Craft challenge as they have a fab sketch for us this week.

With such a sweet image and fab layout I decided I needed pretty papers in soft colours, a little lace and some punched hearts. My image is coloured with my Promarkers and I've added some white faux stitching.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant - Love is in the air
Love to Create - Feelin the love
Kenny K's Krafty Krew - to the one I love

Valentines with a little twist!

Well hello there!

A cheeky late Sunday evening post to finish off a fab weekend! This weekend I have entertained lots of friends...Jake and Kirsty came over for dinner on Friday evening, I cooked us up a Chinese feast! Then my sister and my best friend came to visit yesterday...we went to a local wine tasting which was so much fun, and then we had a good old fashioned girlie sleepover! Lots of food (yes more food!), drink and a chick movie!

I've also spent time in my craft room this afternoon and managed a quick visit to my favourite antiques shop....I am well and truely relaxed and content right now!

Soooo...its that lovey dovey week...Valentine's Day is just days away. I've created a Valentine's Day card with a slight difference...there is no red or pink on my card....

Hee, hee! I love a good sentiment on a card!

This cheeky chappie has been created out of various brown papers, with a googly eye and some details added in Promarkers and a white pen. My Squirrel's leg and arm is attached with 3D sticky pads to give him some dimension.

I have written my sentiment onto the card and added faux stitching around the edges.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts - Valentines
Crazy 4 Challenges - hearts with no red or pink
Challenges 4 Everybody - anything goes

Pop by both of these blogs to see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created this week!
