Time for some crafting!

Evening all - this weather is soooo gorgeous isn't it? I hope you all had a lovely weekend - most of mine was spent outside in the sunshine...so tonight I was determined to come home and make at least one card! So here's my summery delight.......

This card fits in with no less than four different challenges! Yes, I'm impressed with myself!! Ha, ha!

Allsorts - Embossing
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Strawberries & Cream
Magical Crafts - Flower power
Cupcakes Craft Challenge - the gorgeous sketch

This was a fun sketch to use, I love how the circle pokes out from all the rectangular shapes. I used strawberry pink and cream colourings to give a summery feel to the card. I've never embossed before, I used a stencil to create the butterful and I really like how it looks - I'll have to start embossing more! Finally I have my three cute little flowers and flowers on one of my backing papers....I hope that's enough flowers for the ladies at Magical!

Right, its still nice and early so I'm off to make some more cards while I'm in the mood!

Thanks for popping by today,

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Evening All - it's Friday and that can only mean one thing....it's Christmas challenge time! Although with all this glorious sunshine its kinda hard to get in a Christmassey mood!

So, can you guess one of the Christmas themes this week by my title?? That's right...the lovely ladies over at Bah Humbug have asked for projects that feature Father Christmas! Take a peek here to see the gorgeous DT cards. Here is my cheeky santa....

I made my santa using paper from my stash and I have used 3D sticky pads to make him stand out a little. I have to confess I am missing a little ho, ho, ho sentiment...it was going to sit over the ribbon....but I've lost it! I can't find it on my craft desk anywhere!! Oh well!

I am also entering this in the Winter Wonderland challenge this week....can you guess their theme?? At first thought this isn't a very Christmassey theme...but it does fit in with another spoting event this week...it's strawberries and cream! Take a look at the lovely DT cards here. As you can see I've gone with the colour option!

Right, I'd better get going.....I'm actually in the middle of cooking dinner for Becca and Lorna and they are looking a bit hungry now!! Hee, hee!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a lovely weekend.

Green crafting!

Evening All! Hope you've all had a lovely day!

Another late one for me...I've been down a local pub this evening for a farewell drink with one of our colleagues. The lovely Laura is off travelling around Europe in a transit van called Jemima for the next three months. I hope she has a wonderful time!

After I said goodbye I popped home and decided to make a card in my favourite colours.....

The fab layout for this card has come from a sketch challenge over at Papertake Weekly, take a peek here to see how the DT have used the sketch. Isn't it a lovely sketch?

Although this is clearly a pink and purple card, it's also a green card to fit in with the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday....their theme this week is reuse, renew, recycle! I've reused two different ribbons that were tied around some of my Birthday pressies earlier this year, I've also used old buttons from my stash. Take a peek here to see what the DT recycled on their cards!

Thank goodness it's nearly Friday...it's been a long week, but the weekend is just around the corner now!

Thanks for popping by today.

Challenge time!

Evening Everyone! What a lovely day it's been today! Plus England won their "do or die" match! I'm not a footy fan - never have been and I don't watch the England matches either....but I'm always amazed at the comments that I get from other people when I say that. Apparently it's awful that I don't want to support my country.....even though I don't enjoy the sport! All I can say is that I'd prefer to be crafting!

Anyway, thats my little grip over with...on to today's challenges...I've been slack again this week...and as usual I'm blaming my computer! I haven't been able to download the photos onto my computer, which is obviously a bit of a problem!

I'm kinda sorted now, so here is my first card.....

This card has been designed for two challenges - Winter Wonderland who gave me the theme of festive trees and Allsorts who provided me with the fab layout. You should pop over to both blogs - the DT have created some wonderful cards.

I've used a cute little tree topper for the festive tree theme, and I've also used a tree patterened backing paper. I love this sketch, I think it looks wonderful and I will be using it again!

My second card is for the Creative Cottage Challenge blog this week, which has the theme of pearls and swirls......

I was sooooo excited when I popped over to their blog this morning to see the challenge and the gorgeous DT cards...guess what...I was the random person picked for last week's prize! I'm so lucky as I love the Creative Cottage products. I've already contacted the lovely Tracy and she has sent me my prize.....the Sending Love kit....and as you can see I've already put it to good use! Thank you ladies, I love my new kit! I love the pink colour used in this kit and I think it works really well with my blue swirls and pearls! I've given the little bear a lift by using 3D sticky pads behind the heart.

Right, I've just realised how late it is and my bed is calling me!

Thanks for popping by today,

Christmas Fun!

Afternoon all - don't you just love half days at work!

Today's challenge over at Bah! Humbug! is brilliant, it's called A Child's Christmas and they want projects for the little ones. It doesn't have to be a card, it could be a game or an advent calendar...but I decided to go with the card option. I started thinking about Christmas and children and what makes that time of year lots of fun, and one think sprung to mind straight away....snow and building snowmen! When I was little didn't really snow that often so when it did it was so exciting...I remember we made snowballs one year that we made mum put in the freezer so they would last! Ha, ha!

However annoying snow can be to the delicate transport system in England, it's still great fun, especially for children! I missed out on the snowmen and snowballs this year thanks to my dodgy knee - in fact I got stranded at one end of a train station platform because there was so much ice and snow....Joe had to come and rescue me! So, I decided to dedicate my card to the art of building snowmen....

This was such a difficult card to photograph because of the ultra shiny mirror card! After several attempts I finally managed this shot! I've used a bright blue backing, topped with the shiny card and a light blue paper. I made my sentiment on the computer and added my snowman which is actually part of a decoupage kit. Finally I added a little more sparkle along the bottom of the card - you can beat a bit of sparkle!

The ladies at Bah! Humbug! Have created some gorgeous cards this week, take a peek here to see them!
Right, I'm off now...heading to Joe's to get ready for tomorrow's drifting competition. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'll see you all next week!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday!

Evening all, a bit of a late post today as I've been out this evening. Yes, I know it's a school night! I went with Anika, Lorna and Jim to a comedy night.....it's a monthly thing and I've wanted to go for ages but always seem to be busy. My original plans for this evening fell through, so I decided to gather my friends and head off for some giggles....except when we got there we found only two other people waiting! It seems that the world cup is the favoured viewing at the moment and since there were the same number of audience members as comedians they decided to cancel it!

Ok, I know I'm a day late, but here is my post for this week's challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday! After all the fun I had on their blog hop last week, I was eager to pop back this week for the new challenge. I was delighted when I popped by all the DT blogs yesterday to discover I'd won the prize draw on Melissa's blog - how exciting!

As well as the new sketch this week SSW are also looking for three new DT members, so I decided to give it a go! I've wanted to be part of a DT for a while now, I really want to be able to inspire fellow crafters and become more involved with this brilliant community.

So, here is my first take on their sketch. I thought I'd start with one of my favourite colours...pink!

I've used the fab freebie image provided by this week's sponsor Katy at KLM Digi Stamps - meet Weeder! I coloured Weeder in using my watercolour pencils.

I've used a combination of pinks and yellows in paper and ribbon, along with a punched flower.

This is the card that I will enter into the challenge at SSW this week.

I then decided to swap to my other favourite colour - purple! For this card I flipped the sketch around and used some new flower stamps that I have treated myself to. It's a brilliant pack full of different flowers and containers, you can combine them to make your own displays - fab!

For my last card I flipped the sketch again, and this time decided to try a male card - as you know cards for men are not my greatest love because I can't really use pink or purple! I've used different shades of blue, along with a stamped car image and a sentiment I created on my computer.

I had a lot of fun using the same sketch in different ways. All too often I'll use a sketch once and never think to try it out in a different way. I've got my fingers crossed that the ladies over at SSW like my work.

Thanks for stopping by today, I think I better head off to bed soon!

It Takes Two!

Hi there! We're half way through the week already! Woo hoo! Wednesday's may be a bit hectic, what with Brownies and Guides, but I'm nearly always happy on a Wednesday! The weekend is just around the corner now! I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but there just aren't enough hours during the day to work and craft!! Hee, hee!

Today's post is dedicated to one of my favourite weekly challenges - The Creative Cottage. This week's challenge is called "it takes two" and to enter we need to produce a card and a matching item.

You'll see that I went for the easy option...a card and matching gift tag! The DT ladies have been much more creative, take a peek here to set their gorgeous sets!

I've used Creative Cottage papers for both my card and the gift tag, in fact this was the freebie from May. I love this cute little bear, he's soooo sweet! I also love the green and yellow colour combo, it's fresh and zingy and looks fab with the grey bear.

I added the sentiments on my computer using text boxes before printing out the digi images. In hindsite I wish I'd printed the image for the card a little smaller because it didn't leave me much room to add any other embellishment to the card! Still, he's so cute he deserves to be centre of attention!

I made the gift tag out of yellow card and more of the Creative Cottage paper, this time I used a much smaller digi image and I changed the sentiment.

I punched a hole in the tag and added some lovely green ribbon from my stash.

I hope you're having a good week and hope you stop by again soon.

Gone fishing....

...Evening All! Hope you all had a brilliant weekend - mine was lovely and relaxing. I spent my afternoons on a new card project which I'll share with you a bit later! Joe is getting ready for the next round of the British Drifiting Championships which is this coming Saturday in Kent. He is currently ranked 18th which I'm really proud of! The prep means he spent quite a bit of time in the garage, leaving me with loads of time to craft!

First off here is a card I've created for three different challenges this week........

This card has been created with the following challenges in mind:
Cupcake Craft Challenge - one for the boys
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - include a quote
Allsorts - Lace and or buttons - I went with buttons as they're a bit more manly than lace!

I really like these stamps, I think the images are sooo cute! I found the quote to match the image on a fishing website, which will hopefully appeal to all  fishers out there. For my manly theme I decided to go with a blue colour scheme! Although if you look closely you'll see a bit of bright pink on the worm...well, I couldn't miss out pink completley! Hee, hee!

I just love buttons, not sure why, but they always seem to look cute on a card.....my button collection is quite large now! Not sure why I'm boasting about my button collection - thats a tad bit sad!!

Now, for my latest card project....

I've created all these car cards from images I've found on the internet. I've used paper from my stash, and added simple detail lines to add definition. I'm really pleased with how they've turned out and have recieved got reactions from friends and family. I think they would make great cards for a car fanatics.

Right, I've just looked at the time...I can't believe it's gone 8pm all ready!! Where has my evening gone??

Thanks for stopping by today,

A little Christmas Cheer!

Me again! Don't ask...long story, but I'm back at home again!

As you know I've been getting a head start on my Christmas cards this year by doing the weekly challenge over at Bah! Humbug! Well, this week I've discovered another lovely Christmas Card blog, so I thought I'd make a card that fits in with both challenges!

Bah! Humbug! have an easy theme this week....anything goes! Yes, we're allowed to let our creative juices flow and our imaginations run wild! The DT have produced some lovely cards to inspire us all. Take a peek here! The second Christmas blog I've found is Winter Wonderland, which also has weekly challenges...their theme is this week traditional Christmas flowers. Again, their DT have come up with some wonderful creations, take a peek here.

So, my traditional flower of choice is the gorgeous poinsettia - I love the deep red colour of the petals. They are so difficult to keep alive though....or is that just me?? Ha, ha! I've used some papers from my stash for the backing, then I created the flowers using a stencil that I have. I've used 3D sticky pads to give the petals a lift and golden sticky dots for a little sparkle!

I hope you like my little bit of Christmas cheer this morning! Its funny to think that we'll probably all be busy thinking about Christmas in just 6 months time! Where has this year gone??

Thanks for stopping by!

Lilac and Lemon

On my goodness....it just taken my stupid computer over 30 minutes to turn on and get to stage where I can write this blog!! Why does it take so long?? Sorry Sheree...I know I said I wouldn't moan about the stupid computer anymore, but its sooooo annoying!!

Anyway, this will have to be really quick now because I've got to get to work! Over at Papertake Weekly they have a fab sketch for their challenge this week, with the optional colour combo of lilac and lemon. The DT have created some gorgeous designs to inspire us, take a peek here.

I thought the colour combo would be an easy one to use, but it took me a while to get it looking right! I've used a selection of papers from my stash....I've got lots of purple colours as thats also a favourite colour of mine. I thought the colours looked quite soft and romantic so I decided this should be a wedding card. I've used a Forever Friends topper for my inage, I'm not usually a Forever Friends fan to be honest, but I thought these wedding toppers looked so cute!

Anyway, I've really got to get going now, so thanks for stopping by today.

Anything but square!

Hello there - how are you today?

I've had an odd day at work - our email server has been down all day and so for once I've had very few emails sitting in my inbox! I regualrly liaise with the 30 hospitals in our group and its rare for me to have a quiet email day! A very odd experience indeed!

Anyway, I thought I'd get a quick made before I head off to canoeing with the Guides....and Cute Card Thursday has a brilliant challenge this week....anything but sqaure is the theme...so they want cards that are any shape apart from square! If you're stuck for ideas....and lets face it square is the shape we crafters always seem to lean towards for our creations...then check out the DT cards - they are all gorgeous.

As you probably know I have a bit of a sweet tooth....so its probably no surprise that I created a cupcake shaped card! Hee, hee!

Right, just a quick post this evening, I've got to get my skates on!
Thanks for stopping by today,

Going Pink!

Evening everyone! I hope you've had a lovely Wednesday!

I didn't have my usual Guides meeting this evening because we're going canoeing tomorrow evening instead......well I use the term "we" very loosely.......the Guides will be canoeing.......I'll be watching from the side! Hee, hee! So, after Brownies I decided to come home and take part in a bloghop...this is something I've never done before and I had so much fun! Its lovely to visit lots of different blogs and see how talented the crafters of the world are! This morning I stumbled upon the Sweet Sketch Wednesday blog which is fab! They are celebrating their first anniversary by having a bloghop. You should pop by and see all the gorgeous cards that the DT have created using this week's sketch.

Here is my take on their sketch.....

This was a fun sketch to use...I'll be heading back over the coming weeks to see all the other sketches they design for their challenges.

I'm also entering this card in the gorgeous challenge set by Rebekah at the Creative Cottage this week....can you guess the theme?? Yes, Rebekah has asked for pink cards this week as she is running in a Race for Life this weekend - good luck Rebekah I hope you have loads of fun! As you know my favourite colour for cards is PINK so I couldn't resist this challenge! Take a look at the gorgeous cards created by the DT for more pink inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by today.

A little sparkle and some strawberries and cream!

Evening! Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Friday was a lovely day...I hope Becca enjoyed herself....we started the day with a fab brunch in an American diner in London. This is Becca tucking into her pankcakes and bacon....

Now here is a valuable lesson that I learnt...if you go to an American diner...either in America or here....always have the pancakes! They were absolutely amazing! You'll regret it all day if you don't have them...especially if your fellow diner lets you try some!! As you've probably guessed I made the wrong choice...no pancakes for me!! And yes, I sulked all day long!! After brunch we ventured to Vinopolis - the amazing wine tasting experience which is located just off the river Thames, near Tower Bridge. If you have an interest in wine...even if its just the fact that you like a glass with your dinner...then this is a great place to visit. Your experience begins with a lesson in wine tasting, then you're set free to sample the delights from the wine tables! The staff are friendly and knowledgable and its great fun!

Anyway, enough of that....onto the challenges! My first card is a pretty Birthday card that I want to enter into several challenges this week...

I based the design of this card on a sketch from this week's Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, and the colour scheme of pinks, cream and brown came from this week's Allsorts Challenge. Brenda has given two scrummy pictures as inspiration for this challenge - one is a gorgeous looking chocolate cake with strawberries and the other is a bowl of strawberries and cream! Yummy!

After cutting, punching, sticking and colouring my card I decided a little sparkle was in order....which is good because the Cupcake Craft Challange this week is "Dazzle us!"....they want to see our cards sparkle! I added a little pink glitter to my large flowers and tiny dots of yellow glitter to the smaller flowers. I also seemed to add some of the pink glitter to my forehead...I have no idea how!!

As well as this card I also have a card for this week's challenge over at Bah! Humbug! The challenge this week is to use acetate in our cards somewhere...so I'd like to enter this cute Christmas pressie shaker card. Now I have to admit that I actually made this card for their ribbon challenge which was a couple of weeks ago.....but I never got around to putting the card on my blog!! Therefore I'm really pleased I can enter the card this week!

You really should pop by all the blogs I've mentioned above, all the DT have been working hard and everyone has come up with gorgeous designs to inspire us all.

Right, sorry for the long post...I just had so much to share today!

Thanks for stopping by,

A Creative Cottage Challenge!

Hello everyone...wow it's late...or really early depending on which way you look at it!

I decided that I probably wouldn't get a chance on Friday to get my Creative Cottage Challenge entry posted....so I thought I'd do it now! Yes, I know I should be in bed....but hey I get a little lie-in in the morning so its ok!

This week's challenge over at the Creative Cottage is Father's Day - as you know I'm not keen on male cards....there is no glitter and men don't tend to like pink very much! The fab DT ladies have created some lovely cards as inspiration though, so pop over and take a peek!

I decided to keep my card nice and simple....that way I wouldn't be tempted to stray toward the glitter! I've used a fab digi image from the Creative Cottage - its part of their June freebie.....take a look on their blog for more details!

Right, I'm off to bed now as I am getting a bit sleepy and I have a fab day ahead of me...that reminds me......

....HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECCA!

I'm hoping to post again on Saturday so I can tell you all about my fun day planned in London for Becca!

Thanks for popping by today,

Summer Fun!

Evening All - I hope you're all well and enjoying this lovely sunshine!

Well, its been a while....I know this because I was told by my two friends Becca and Sheree when I saw them for dinner last night! I'm not sure where the time has gone to be honest, or what I've been doing! Sometimes life just gets in the way! I remember when I was a child and the summer holidays seemed like an eternity....6 weeks flashes by in the wink of an eye these days!!

So, Becca and Sheree told me I had to get a new card on my blog....so here it is!

The sun seems to be here to stay for a few days so I thought I'd have a little bit of summer fun.....cocktails and bikins! Hee, hee! This would actually make a perfect Birthday card for Becca....she loves cows! It's her Birthday on Friday and I have a day in London planned.....are you excited Becca??!

It's also my Brother-in-law's Birthday today....HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!!

So, public annoucments over and back to the card...I've missed out on loads of challenges recently, so I've decided to enter this card into the following challenges:

Cupcake Craft Challenges - Summer Delights
Papertake Weekly - Fun, Fun, Fun!
Sir Stampalot - Punch it!

You should pop over to all the challenge blogs and see the fab designs that the DT have come up with - brilliant inspiration if you're stuck on a challenge!

Right, I'm off to make some more cards! Thanks for stopping by today!
