There is a lot of rain out there!!

Well, its really raining cats and dogs in little old New Malden this evening! Not great for an invalid with a crutch...everything is so slippery!! So, I had a wonderful Valentine's weekend - Joe cooked me a lovely meal and I'm the proud owner of a cute little Bonsai tree - I'm very happy!

I spent today in hospital lucky me - i had my first ever CT Scan today...I'm experienced in the radiology department the radiographer told me...I've already had an MR and an ultrasound in the last three months! The CT scan was actually really quick - I had to fast for four hours beforehand and then they wanted me to drink a whole jug of water in one day - isn't medicine odd! After the scan I was whisked around to the ward and spent the afternoon on a drip having a steroid infusion...again a first for me. I didn't like the drip particularly, it made my arm feel odd, but hey ho its all over now. They also took some bloods to test.

As you can imagine I wasn't looking forward to this day, so I decided to take my mind off things first thing this morning and made this cute card

I'm pleased with how this one turned out as I wasn't convinced by the colour scheme to start with. This card fits in nicely with two card challenges this week.

Firstly, over at the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge they wanted to see projects that used a multi fold. At first I didn't think I'd enter this week as I've never tried a card with more than one fold...but then as I read again I realised the folds could be in the decoration. So inspired by an old PaperCraft Inspiration magazine I created this little dress with a folded skirt. The DT have come up with loads of gorgeous inspirational designs, take a peek here to see them. I really should get more adventurous with my folding!

The other challenge that this card fits into is this week's Allsorts Challenge, where they have given us a 3-2-1 recipe to follow. Take a look at all the different DT cards here, its amazing to see all the different cards people create when given the same challenge! Brilliant! My 3-2-1 is as follows - 3 buttons, 2 ribbons and 1 piece of backing paper. I was going to layer the ribbon on top of each other, but I think the angle of the top ribbon looks brilliant (even if I do say so myself!) and echos the angle of the dress.

So, thanks to card making I went into hospital a little calmer than I might have done otherwise. I'll be getting all the results next week - lets hope I get some answers and can finally get fixed! While I'm here I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to my sister Lorna for sitting with me today - she must have been soooo bored, but I really appreciated her company!

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon.

  4. Hi Lisa - thanks for your lovely comments.

The folded dress was actually really easy to make - you cut the skirt out with two straight side edges and two arced long edges. Then you make 7 folds in the skirt - folding one way and then back for the next fold. Simple but looks fab!
